S54 Czechia IIHF Roster Announcement

Hello all, Aron Hernadivic of the Buffalo Stampede and the great nation of Czechia here, it is my pleasure to announce Czechia's roster for the upcoming S54 IIHF Tournament. A strong tournament run in S53 revealed the depth and bright future Czechia has as they surged to a second place finish after finishing last in the tournament prior. Czechia will be looking to cement themselves as a contender for years to come by making the jump from a good IIHF nation to an elite IIHF nation as they look to build off their strong performance from last tournament with a gold medal. The makeup of the roster is almost identical to last season's silver medal squad, with one slight change; new addition Connor Tanner makes his debut for the red, white and blue, coming via transfer from a the Canadian squad Czechia eliminated with ease in S52. Tanner will likely slot in as the 3C for this great nation, allowing Aron Hernadivic to play in his natural position on the wing. Tanner will be replacing former 1OA draft pick Simothy Drunkebird, who has seemingly lost his passion for the game only a few seasons after being selected with the top pick. Without further adieu, here is S54's Czechia Roster;

First, our management team:
General Managers: Blastmeaway + Caltroit_Red_Flames
Assistant General Managers: 39alaska39 + LukeTD
Coach: inf1d3l
Second, our team leaders:
Captain: Alex Winters
First Alternate: Luke Thomason
Second Alternate: David Vent

Finally, our roster:
Forwards
Czerkawski, Piotr - C - San Francisco Pride - #7
Czerkawski, the winger from S41, had an excellent season for the San Francisco Pride, putting up 19 goals and 31 assists for 50 points.  Not just putting up empty stats for the lottery winning Pride, Piotr was a gem in the eyes of advanced metrics, having a dominant CF and CF%. This comes off an IIHF tournament where Czerkawski tied for the team lead in points with 9 points in 12 games. With a TPE still close to 1700, this aging winger continues to show he's got lots left in the tank, and will likely be relied on again in a major top-6 forward role with an emphasis on offensive production.
@majesiu

Dangelchek, Sasha - W - St. Louis Scarecrows - #21
This young S50 power forward is back for another IIHF tournament, and will likely be taking on a role accustomed to Sasha. Sasha will be expected to play a depth role, where he can take advantage of his young energetic spirit to be an aggressive forechecker and notable passer. Sasha is coming off his rookie campaign for the Wolfpack, where he put up 4 goals and 8 assists, good for 12 points in 50 games as he helped anchor the Wolfpack's third line. With no playoff hockey to play for, Dangelchek should be well-rested for the IIHF, and will provide a physical presence on the Czechia's fourth line.
@acdangel

Hernadivic, Aron - W - Buffalo Stampede - #10
Who cares? On a more serious note, Hernadivic had an excellent second season for the Buffalo Stampede, where he provided excellent depth scoring for the Stampede with 13 goals and 14 assists, good for 27 points. Hernadivic was also an excellent defensive player, as he played on the Stampede's PK, and finished a +16 on the season. That's enough.

Kastrba, David - W - Manhattan Rage - #88
Kastrba is another one of the old-souls on the team, as this S42 winger sort of serves as a bridge between the truly ancients on the team like Czerkawski, McIntyre, and Smyth, to the new bloods like Hernadivic, Zaporozhets, and Dangelchek. After a season in which he was playing down the line-up in Manhattan and only managed 17 points, Kastrba responded to put up 25 goals and 21 assists, as he almost broke a point per game. His advanced stats last season showed he was very unlucky, and so Czechia will hope Kastrba can continue his form from this season.
@hewasajazzman

Mikulak, Petr - W - Baltimore Platoon - #92
The big E, Efuig and his player have consistently been one of West Kendall's major offensive threats up until this season, where WKP playing a more sheltered brand of hockey perhaps hurt his offensive output. Mikulak's offensive production has seen a decline as BAP has moved further and further away from playoff hockey, with his career high of 40 points coming a long time ago. Back to back seasons of about 30 points has shown Mikulak still has some offensive flair, and Czechia hopes he can take advantage of some of the other nation's lack of depth.
@efiug

Scarn, Michael - C - Buffalo Stampede - #17
Scarn, a victim of playing behind one of the league's best players in Luke Thomason, should be Czechia's 1B center for the tournament behind Luke's 1A. Scarn is quickly becoming one of the dominant two-way players in the league, and being in a 1A/1B partnership is something that Scarn should be familiar with, as he comes from a similar partnership with the Buffalo Stampede and Bobby Sharp. Although he played some of the season on the wing, he will be Czechia's 2C, and will be expected to put up huge numbers. Scarn had 20 goals and 38 assists, as he played excellent hockey with Luffy and Kholin for the President's Trophy winning Buffalo Stampede.
@Trautner

Schieck, Charlie - W - San Francisco Pride - #65
Schieck, a defenceman turned winger for his international team, again comes from the Pride of San Francisco. Schieck will likely slot in the top 6 on Czechia, but might even be considered top 9, depending on where Czechia looks to play a more defensive-minded line. Schieck struggled offensively for the lottery-winning Pride, and will likely be part of a shutdown line for the Czechians.
@Grapehead

Smyth, DeMaricus - W - New Orleans Specters - #24
Another defender turned winger, DeMaricus is filling the needs for his country, and has the offensive capabilities to be more than successful in his switch to forward. This is likely because DeMaricus has spent the majority of his career at forward, only switching to defense over a season ago as NOLA looks to ease DeMaricus into a less stressful role as he enters the twilight of his career. The Challenge Cup winning Smyth had good offensive numbers, scoring 8 goals and 23 points for the Specters. Smyth, as in past years, will need to be a major offensive sparkplug for Czechia to reach their goals.
@Blastmeaway

Tanner, Connor - C - Edmonton Blizzard - #13
Connor Tanner comes to Czechia by way of Canada, having struggled to crack what is typically a loaded, but underachieving roster. Tanner should slot into Canada's 3C role, and as a playmaker, should have good chemistry with a third line that is likely to be himself, another playmaker in Hernadivic, and a scorer in Petr Mikulak. In this past SHL season, the Canadian turned Czechian had 9 goals and 14 assists, good for 23 points in a depth role for the Blizzard. Tanner should be a good depth piece for the Czechians, making a potent lineup even scarier as he replaces a former young player in Simothy Drunkebird.
@Keygan

Thomason, Luke - C - Manhattan Rage - #43
Mr. Thomason, the first alternate captain we've come across, is widely considered one of the top players in the league in terms of sheer skill level. Thomason was a major factor in Manhattan holding off the late charging Wolfpack, as his 61 points was an excellent number for someone who has begun the downside of his career. Luke should be the first line center on Czechia, likely playing with one of his Manhattan teammates in Alex Winters, and the Czechia GMs sure hope their chemistry continues.
@luketd

Winters, Alex - W - Manhattan Rage - #90
Another Rage player, shocker, almost like the Rage co-GM is also of Czechian descent. Alaska is another one of the core Czechian forwards, being teammates with Thomason in IIHF and SHL for almost their entire careers. These two are inseperable even in the LR, and with Winters being one of the top wingers on the team, the chemistry these two show will be huge in determining how far Czechia is able to advance in this year's IIHF. Winters will likely be relied on again as a first line forward to pace the Czechs offence. Winters had 18 goals and 13 assists, but should put up better numbers as he is a known international performer. Expect Winters to be an elite offensive presence.
@39alaska39

Zaporozhets, Ruslan - W - St. Louis Scarecrows - #89
Zapo, coming off an excellent rookie campaign in Toronto, where he will likely finish second in ROTY voting to Elizabeth Doyle, had 16 goals, 22 assists, 38 points for the North Stars. Perhaps this tournament will continue to serve as Zapo's coming out party, as this young Czechian looks to build off a strong rookie season. Zapo will be playing beside a former Crow teammate in Dangelchek, and an unknown at center, which should help this fourth line's chemistry.
@CptSquall

Defencemen
Doskocil, Andrej - D - Manhattan Rage - #8
Doskocil, the Slovakian born, Czechian-turned defender, again comes by way of the Manhattan Rage, showing the Czechia -> Manhattan pipeline is as strong as ever. Doskocil will be a solid top-4 defender for the Czechians in this tournament, likely slotting in with Rage teammate David Vent with the hopes their strong showing in the regular season and playoffs continues into the international scene. Doskocil was a traditional stay at home defender for the Rage, unafraid to lay the body, and unafraid to stick up for his teammates. 15 points shows he isn't helpless offensively, but its the physical tone Doskocil sets that really shows his true colours, as he had over 300 hits this past season. Doskocil will continue playing a strong game, hoping to intimidate the other team into playing a little scared.
@Citizen of Adraa

McCarthy, Barrett - D - Manhattan Rage - #45
McCarthy, our fifth member of the Rage, would've also been a contender to make the switch to forward for the tournament, as his offensive capabilities are exceptional for a defenceman. McCarthy had 29 points, 7 goals and 22 assists, truly showing off that McCarthy is able to control a game from the blue line with his high hockey IQ and passing ability. Barrett will serve as Czechia's top defenceman in this tournament, likely forming an offensive-focused defensive pairing that aims to dominate and control the game from the point
@Inf1d3l

McIntyre, Brady - D - Edmonton Blizzard - #27
McIntyre has developed into more of a two-way defenceman as he begins to show signs of aging, sacrificing a little of his offensive game for a more defensively-sound approach. McIntyre hasn't sacrificed too much offence however, as he still managed to score 34 points. McIntyre likely should've had more, but a shooting percentage of 7.43% put a halt to any more offensive output McIntyre wished to provide. With a rebound to his career percentages this tournament, and playing with similar-minded defenceman in McCarthy, expect McIntyre to put up gaudier stats in this IIHF tournament.
@caltroit_red_flames

McClure III, Troy - D - Hamilton Steelhawks - #3
Fresh off almost winning back to back Challenge Cups, playing a respectable defensive role, the third McClure, and third 'Mc' of the team should likely expect to play a similar role for his home country.  McClure should be in contention for a top 4 role, but may have to settle for a third pairing if the GMs wish to carry on the chemistry of the Manhattan pairing. However, this should allow McClure to shine, as this level of defender on the third pair is an absolute luxury, and McClure should be able to help eliminate any threats from the depth of other teams.
@Troy_McClure03

Vent, David - D - Manhattan Rage - #75
Our sixth and final member of the Manhattan Rage, Vent had a breakout offensive season for the second best team in the state of New York (Shameless Stampede Plug). Vent had a great offensive season for the Rage, putting up 9 goals and 23 assists for 32 points, while still being rock solid defensively as shown by his +24 rating. Should he get reunited with his partner Doskocil, Czechia should expect similar results as Doskocil provides the meat and potatoes, and Vent provides the offensive flair.
@ImShiny

Vrzala, Bernik - D - Calgary Dragons - #15
Our final defender, Vrzala comes from a legendary franchise out of Calgary, and is another member of the huge Czechia S46 class. Vrzala took a slight step back this season, as the Dragons nearly missed the playoffs. Vrzala was a -13 with 7 points as all of Calgary struggled all season longVrzala should be a third pairing for Czechia, showing again the great depth this nation has. Expect Vrzala to dominate the depth of the other teams on his way to another great showing.
@Off

Goaltenders
Booth, Knox - G - Los Angeles Panthers - #60
Booth, the former Canadian back-up turned Czechia starter, has become the clear cut #1 goalie for Czechia, with no competition for this role in the near future. Expect Booth to start nearly every game as Czechia is hugely reliant on Booth having a great tournament to accomplish their goals. Booth had a 2.45 GAA and an 0.916 save percentage, and should expect to see even more improved numbers as Czechia's defensive depth is absurd. Booth will be one of the X-Factors for Czechia, and if they're able to give him the support he needs, Czechia should be in serious contention for a medal
@Tate

Man, Blunt - G - Carolina - #1
Backing up one of the best SMJHL goalies in the league in Frans Eller, Blunt Man saw limited game action, only appearing in 8 games for the Kraken. In his 8 regular season appearances, Blunt Man put up a respectable 4-3 record, although struggled with a 3.19 GAA and a 0.871 save percentage as he took the season to get acclimated to the different world that is the SMJHL. Expect to see limited game time for Blunt Man in this IIHF tournament.
