TORONTO, ON, CANADA -- Earlier today, the Head Office of the Simulation Hockey League announced that they would be implementing a policy that would force goons such as S54 Turd Ferguson winner Jake Primo, Andrej Doskocil, Kalevi Karhunen, and Mathias Seger into actually playing normal hockey. The move comes as the league attempts to shift the goons into actual offensive players, while requiring their current superstars to become goons. This stunning turn of events will no doubt spice up a league which many have called "too predictable" in the aftermath of nearly every casino bet being parlayed successfully in the last 2 seasons. Several teams supported the move, while others have felt that their player development and coaching strategies are now going by the wayside.

"I love it!" said New Orleans Spectres winger Jimmy Slothface. "Instead of being forced to actually play my role as a top 6, point producing player, I get to headhunt the other team into submission! Who cares that my actual hitting and aggression are mediocre at best, I'm trying to injure people here!" Teammate Olivier Cloutier agreed, saying, "Look, I might be a point per game player, and a sniper, but I'm sick of being forced to score goals and try to win the game the old fashioned way! That's why I've started wearing brass knuckles under my gloves."

Even New Orleans rivals in Edmonton had to agree with their counterparts. "It's simple," said winger Julio Tokolosh,"I scored 32 goals last season. 32! You know how many times I scored goals and would rather have just been running guys from behind? 32 times. I'm sick of having to play a clean game. Andrew Shaw was my idol, and it's time to live up to his legacy."

Criticism has been sharp from those who think the move will hurt their ability to play the game. "Hey, I like to score goals, that's the point of the game," said Buffalo Stampede captain Monkey D. Luffy. "Forcing me to two-hand people in the chops and sucker punch goalies is just asinine. How are we supposed to play if we just injure everybody?" Manhattan Rage winger Luke Thomason concurred. "Why cant we just play the game and have fun?" he asked, bringing back shades of Ilya Bryzghalov. "Headhunting is not fun. It is not the sport we play. It's only game, why we have to kill each other?"

Goons slated to be forced to forego their dirty ways have been largely unable to be reached for comment regarding the matter. When asked about the change, Tampa Bay defenseman Jakob Hamr commented,"Wait, I will be forced to play defense now? I uh...I don't know how to do that. If we're being honest I'm only in the league because I won a bar fight and a scout happened to be plastered in the bar that night. I can barely hold a stick and skate around man uh...shit, this isn't good."
