(Graded) Deep Dive #2: Breaking Down St. Louis's Roster
#1
(This post was last modified: 04-21-2021, 04:16 PM by Leppish.)

The St. Louis Scarecrows are looking to bounce back from last season where they only had 19 wins and accumulated only 45 points as they finished second to last in the league. The team has a bunch of holes that need to be filled and they tried to do that this season by picking up guys like Maverick Seabrook, Marcel Beck and Nikolai Ayerzov in the Season 60 draft. So far though, even with the addition of these three talented rookies, the team has not figured out a way to get consistent results through the first 8 games of this season. Currently the team sits at a record of 2 wins and 6 losses with only 4 points. The team has also only managed to find the back of the net 12 times, which is the lowest goals for total in the league. 2 of those goals have come from the 3 rookies that I mentioned earlier, with one from Maverick Seabrook and the other from Nikolair Ayerzov. The team is just failing to find results that their Roster indicates they are capable of.
If we breakdown the roster of the St. Louis Scarecrows we can see that they are very young. They have managed to add a ton season 59 and season 60 guys in the past 2 drafts. However, the team is missing the key leaders that would allow this group to find success now. Players like Ethan Bouchard and Zbynek Dobrovsky has started out strong this season with 5 pts through the 8 games that have been played so far this season.  However, their presence has not been enough to bring up all the players around them. This is a hungry group of young and talented hockey players. Seasoned veterans like Hunter Sharpe and Greg Davies need to make sure they are providing these young players with everything they need to succeed. However, right now Hunter Sharpe only sits at 2 pts on the season and Greg Davies is only sitting at 3. Although, Davies does lead the team with 3 goals and is putting forth an incredible 30% shot percentage. These players have a responsibility to mold the young rookies and sophomores into the superstars that are going to allow St. Louis to compete for years to come.
I am not sure what the team can do this year to turn things around. There have been moments of pure brilliance, such as the one where they defeated the Newfoundland Berserkers by a score of 2-0 or even their hard fought 3-2 win over Nevada early on in the season. These moments of brilliance are too few and far between. The St. Louis Scarecrows need to focus on consistency this season. They need to have their roster performing at a high level night in and night out. The talent is there but, it will be on the organization to bring the best out of each and every one of the those players. I personally believe that this year is going to be another learning opportunity for the team but, I would not be surprised if this team starts to turn things around. Especially, late into the season and during playoffs. Scarecrows Scarecrows Scarecrows
