As a brand new user to the SMJHL, I love looking at how myself and my team's rookies compare to the rest of the draft class for the rookie year. I will be looking at the rookie class from the Carolina Kraken both in terms of TPE and performance. In the S60 class, the Kraken took rookies: Forward Bjorn Bjorn, Forward Lucas Raymond, Forward Roderic Banes, and Goalie Osada Tamura. In terms of TPE from the most recent processed update, the rookies rank 19th, 25th, 28th, and 55th respectively among rookies. Three of them were second round picks, and one later round so they are all earning at a solid pace to set the Kraken up well in the future as a corps to be excited about. Not only are the four players earning at a solid rate, they are also contributing on the ice for the Kraken.

Although he does not lead in TPE, Lucas Raymond is the leading point scorer among Carolina's rookie class. For the year, Raymond has 30 points which is composed of 12 goals and 18 assists. Not to mention, he also has 23 blocks and 50 hits as he is an active skater and is always around the puck making plays for his team.

Next up, the Carolina have rookie Bjorn Bjorn who has scored 23 points, 10 goals and 13 assists. Not known for his goal scoring and offensive ability, Bjorn has been a nice surprise on the offensive end for the Kraken and has contributed more in that aspect than many had anticipated. He has 32 blocks and 52 hits on the season so he is definitely living up to his physical role so far. He is also 1-3 in fights, so he definitely needs to work on that uppercut.

Roderic Banes also has 23 points but is much more focused on setting up goals with 5 goals and 18 assists. While Banes is near the bottom of the rookies in terms of goals scored, his passing ability is by far one of the best among the rookies. He is elite at setting up goals with both secondary and primary passes to the goal scorer. Also an opportunistic scorer, Banes has excited Carolina for the future with his brimming potential. Banes also has 44 blocks and 31 hits, so he is also a great contributer on the defensive end.

The last rookie in the class, Osada Tamura, is a great rookie because he had the drive to become a goalie. Tamura has been a fantastic backup goalie to Carolina's star goalie Ragnar-Alexandre Ragnarsson-Tremblay. Tamura has been insanely impressive with a 90.1% save percentage which for a rookie is great going up against a lot of experienced skaters. He has 9 wins on the year and also has a tie, so he is doing his part in keeping the other team from scoring goals. Being a goalie as a rookie is insanely challenging, and Tamura has handled that pressure impressively.

Compared to the other rookies in the class, Raymond is 8th in points, Bjorn and Banes are tied for 13th in points, and Tamura has been an insanely good goalie for a rookie. The Kraken definitely have a lot to be excited about, and I know the rookies are excited about the future as well.

Thanks for reading!

Approved, +5 TPE to @negs77
