Philip Demitra was drafted by the Timbers 28th overall with a pick traded to them by Carolina. Maine entered the season with low expectations with a young and rebuilding roster' however they have exceeded Demitra's expectations in his rookie season through a dedicated management team and solid players.

Maine was impressive during the pre-season with a 5-2 record, and Demitra put up two goals and three assists. The Timbers were super excited at this point, however after a blistering 7-4 started to the season; Maine would end the season 9th with a record of 27-36-3 also being third last in team plus minus at -62.  They would just catch Vancouver in the final stages of the season after being 10th for most of the 2nd half.

Demitra ended the regular season with a full season played (66) and four goals, 14 assists, and 18 points total. He went -42 which was team leading by 10, and would have a low PDO of 96.8. This was due to Demitra playing on several pairings with a few different d-men. This would lead to a low CF% of 37.6, however this was partially due to being on the ice in bad matchups. He goes into the playoffs with old school d-man Randy Marsh at his left side, who is a new rookie to the league. He would average 18:35 a night with about 45 seconds of both pp and pk time respectively.

The Timbers would go on to dominate the Outlaws on all ends of the ice in the opening rounds of the playoffs with a clean sweep.

Demitra now leads the d-men on his team with 5 points in 4 playoff games. This puts Demitra on a five game point streak including his assist in the last game of the season. The goal for the future for Demitra is to become a threat playmaking wise and defensively, and the series against the Outlaws is starting to show the potential.

Demitra and the Timbers now face Newfoundland who Maine did quite well against during the regular season. Demitra and the Timbers hope to provide a huge upset for the Berserkers who where far stronger during the regular season with far more offensive and defensive threats.

Demitra throughout the season has been building as well rounded as possible and will focus on improving his shooting stats throughout the rest of the playoffs. Demitra has already been chatting with an SHL GM or two and is excited at the possibility of being drafted. While picked by an SHL team, that should give Demitra extra chances to improve rapidly over the coming seasons in order to help Maine dominate.

Next year he hopes on getting his reading abilities on both ends high, while focusing on speed, balance, and stamina on the physical end. To top it off he hopes to get better hands by improving in passing, puck handling, and stickchecking. Maine is only losing one player to the SHL and therefore should be a huge threat for the cup next year. Another side goal if possible will be getting better at shot blocking.
