(679 words, ready for grading) The S60 IIHF has finished their third day of sims and oh boy are things looking interesting! Team Switzerland is still looking for their first win of the tournament, the leaders in Group A and B hold incredibly commanding leads over the rest of the groups (Finland is undefeated, Norway has five wins in six games), and the remaining teams in Group A are separated by 3 points. Here are the current standings after the second day of sims: Here is the second day of sims and the games so far: USA 6 - IRL 2 Team Ireland was undisciplined in the first period and Team USA made them pay for it, with Julio Tokolosh scoring two powerplay goals on the night. They were better the rest of the night, but the early lead proved to be too much as they fell 6-2 to the Americans. SWI 4 - JPN 5 Team Switzerland, still searching for their first win, had a track meet against Team Japan, who poured on the offense and beat them on an Akira Ren goal in the third. Team Japan also had nearly 50 shots on net, and was more dominant with the puck in the game. Akira Ren and Cormac Ponaire would also have a throwdown in the third, with Ren coming out on top. GER 1 - GBR 4 Team Great Britain was on fire as they scored four unanswered goals to browbeat Team Germany, including a first period short-handed tally by Edward Williams. Team Germany would not find the back of the net until the third, with a Noah Brusky power play goal. NOR 3 - AUT 0 Team Norway continued their winning streak in this game, with a quiet first and second period but an explosive third period, including two goals 28 seconds apart. Goaltender Cillian Kavanagh wasn’t tested very much, but he was perfect, turning away 23 shots from Austria. SWI 1 - FIN 4 With yet another loss, Team Switzerland needs to quickly figure out what is going wrong. Team Finland’s Harry Carpet would be amazing with a 39-save night, only missing one puck. With the Switzerland goaltender pulled, Michael Fitted would dash any hope with an empty net goal. RUS 2 - CAN 5 Team Canada had a good night, surpassing fifty shots on net and scoring five goals on Team Russia. Zakkira Diporov scored the only two goals for Team Russia, but the team was unable to muster more offense to mount a comeback attempt. IRL 1 - NOR 2 Team Norway nearly faced their first defeat at the hand of Team Ireland, but a late goal from Slava Petrov kept them ahead and ensured their streak’s continuation. Andreas Kvalheim and Keith Lee would get into it in the third period as heated words were exchanged. Kvalheim would win the fight, but the two were still jawing as they headed to the box to serve their minutes. USA 1 - GBR 6 Team Great Britain had a goal-filled game as they won 6-1 against Team USA, peppering Strom Chamberlain with 46 shots. Team Great Britain also had a penalty-filled one, as they were hooligans yet again, with Vorian Atreides having a slashing misconduct amongst other penalties awarded to British players. GER 5 - IRL 4 Team Germany staved off a comeback attempt from Team Ireland, and won a second game. Both teams had over forty shots on goal, but Team Ireland had 41 hits in the game as they asserted physical dominance over Team Germany. JPN 4 - SWI 1 Team Japan denied Team Switzerland yet again, as Olli Saarinen Jr had a great game and Monkey D. Luffy scored two goals on Team Switzerland late in the third to put a cap on a not-great game. FIN 6 - LTV 1 Team Finland completely overwhelmed Team Latvia in this match-up, with nearly fifty shots on net, and only allowing Team Latvia 18 shots in the game. Boris Poroshenko tried his best to hit Team Finland out of existence, with 8 hits in the game. Thanks for tuning in!

I'm enjoying the 'undefeated' part as long as I can. It doesn't happen that often.

IIHF Federation Head Trade Me
On a serious note, IIHF over the last few seasons has become more unpredictable in terms of where teams will finish in the groups. A few seasons back i was running some tests for predictions and found that many times teams would bounce from 6th in the group to 1st and vice versa which was interesting considering how predicatble the SHL was. Now with the update scale changes I think we are seeing the unpredictability in full force and it is really great to see. Would I be pissed about it if my team was doing poorly? Absolutly, but this kinda of parity is great for the IIHF imo.
