So, during our first deep dive earlier this season. We looked at the first ever true dynasty on this site. The Kelowna Knights from S40-42. By now I am sure you are all wondering what it would take to craft a dynasty in Franchise Hockey Simulator? After all the early years saw certain teams become mainstays for almost a player's entire career.

That said, it may shock you to know then that it took until S62 for a dynasty to happen again. Now yes, the SHL still has not seen any of its now 20 teams win the cup 3 times in a row. But its happened thrice in the SMJHL. In S62 the J had 14 teams. But the team we are interested in is NOT the top rated team. No, we are here to look at the Newfoundland Berserkers. The 'Zerks in S62 finished 44-16-6 for 94 points. Good for 3rd in the league behind Vancouver and Anchorage. They were the 3rd highest scoring and best defensive team in the league as well. In truth, we should have all seen it coming.

S62: The 'Zerks in S62 finished 44-16-6 for 94 points. Good for 3rd in the league behind Vancouver and Anchorage. They were the 3rd highest scoring and best defensive team in the league as well. In truth, we should have all seen it coming. Emeril Lagasse lead them in scoring with 31 goals and 37 assists for 68 points. To be fair, 2nd was only 72 points. Fair to say scoring was a bit more spread out 10 seasons ago. 2 more players were a point away from 60 and in all 7 had 40+ points including Lagasse which is solid for the J. They won the Wollker Division by a good bit and that gave them the 1st round bye. So round 2 saw them take on a solid Maine Timber team that went 39-21-6 for 84 points during the season. The series however, was not close. Newfoundland swept the Timber aside. Games were 3-0, 7-3, 6-1, and 2-1 in a hard fought game 4. Next up was 41-20-5 Carolina. The Kraken should and did put up more of a fight, taking the 'Zerks to 5 games with a 4-0 win in game 2. Finally it was time for the cup finals. The Anchorage Armada sailed in with a 46-16-4 record and should have given the Newfies a run for their money. But Newfoundland was on another level, sweeping the Boats aside in 4 games that included a crushing 8-1 game 3 win. Jeff Larsson lead with 16 points but Jonas Johansson was a god, going 12-1 with 2 shutouts, a GAA of 1.61 and a .929 SV%.

S63: Newfoundland was absolutely dominant in their bid for a repeat. 58-6-2 for 118 points! they lost a grand total of twice at home, TWICE! Over 300 goals for and only 110 against as a team. No surprise that that is best for both categories. Alexander Mackenzie lead them with 89 points. Lagasse also had 80 points and 11 had over 40 points including the above. Not to be forgotten, Johansson posted a record of 42-6-1 and 14 shutouts. With a GAA of 1.77 and a save % of .906 this team didn't let you shoot much AND was in playoff form. Playoffs were the same sort of story. Won the division, gained the bye, beat Detroit in 5, Swept Maine again, and then Had Great Falls in 5. Lagasse had 21 points in the 14 games it took and Johansson 12-1-1 with 2 shutouts, a .906sv%, and a GAA of 2.16.

S64: Well destiny is on the horizon and just needs to be reached. Just as good as before, the 'Zerks went 57-8-1 for 115 points. Over 300 goals for again and the least allowed. Mackenzie lead with 76 points and 11 players had 40+ again. Jonas Johansson had 40+ wins again, a SV% under 2, and 6 shutouts. Here we go again. Best Carolina in 5, Colorado took them to 6 which is the best a team has done in these 3 seasons, but Quebec could not stop their neighbours from sailing up the St. Lawrence and making off with the pilfered cup in a sweep. Emeril Lagasse, Alexander Mackenzie, and the Legendary Mikko Rashford all had 17 points and Johansson was 12-3 with a 2.25GAA and a SV% of .903.

It had to have been a highlight for hockey fans and enjoyers to see. But I am sure the other 13 hope it never happens again.
