After fourteen seasons and nine hundred twenty-four games in the Simulation Hockey League, Ole Olson has decided to retire. Olson's career was unremarkable, having never won a championship nor an individual award despite his above average career length. Journeyman is a term that could easily be applied to the Norwegian's career, a solid player who rarely excelled, but also rarely disappointed. Ole Olson's last game was a gold medal match against Sweden in the International Ice Hockey Federation world championship games where they would lose bitterly after taking an early lead preventing Olson from obtaining his second IIHF gold medal.

Olson spent twelve seasons playing for the New Orleans Specters, starting out as a heavily defensive shot blocker and eventually transforming his game into more of a two-way defenseman. By the time he'd established himself in New Orleans, he was generally called upon to quarterback the rush and find key passes into the offensive zone as well as set up scoring chances from the blue line. Olson was not a gifted shooter, but took quite a few chances to the detriment of his shooting percentage. He finished his career with a 5.9% average on twenty-two hundred shots and only one hundred thirty-six goals. Nearly half of Olson's goals came on the power play, making him a special teams specialist. Luckily, Olson was a better playmaker than he was a shooter as he set up just shy of four hundred goals in his career, giving him a career points total of five hundred thirty-two. It wasn't until his final year in the league that his career plus/minus went positive and he finished at plus fourteen. He went negative his first five seasons, and then never went worse than zero the rest of his career with his best season coming just before retired. Olson finished Season 73 at plus thirty-four.

This personal best was not with the Specters, however, as a season prior to his retirement Olson was traded from New Orleans to the Atlanta Inferno. The Specters no longer needed the aging defenseman who appeared to have lost his fire. Olson went on to play two seasons in Atlanta before deciding to call it a career. The Atlanta fans welcomed the veteran with open arms, as did the locker room and coaching staff. Olson had nothing bad to say about his time in Atlanta, and appreciated the opportunity to keep playing the game he loved. In his two seasons with the Inferno, Olson tallied twelve goals and forty-three assists for a total of fifty-five points.

Olson's greatest success came on the international stage. He started out with Team World in the World Junior Championships and won Bronze in his last season with the team. Olson went on to play for Team Norway where he would accrue three Bronze, two Silver, and one Gold medal in his career. The final game of his career finished as a loss to Sweden in the gold medal match. It was a bittersweet ending, but one he was content with. He greatly enjoyed his time with every team he spent time on from Carolina and beyond. He intends to retire to Norway and develop a sanctuary for animals in need.
