Choose Your Own Adventure Write Up 1/4 (Mostly Block of Text for Money)
#1

So the story goes that there was an ambitious user named Z0rem who one day watched the netflix choose your own adventure show and thought he could make one for SHL. He started off strong, but eventually failed to complete it and then two years passed and he was sitting on a script of 20,000 words that never got graded. He went IA for about 6 months and the project was forgotten as he had no time to write. Well, now I am broke and need money so I am going to put my script here very disorganized. I had finished about 1/3 of the total write up and couldnt figure out how to shorten the length without ruining the whole flow I had built.

I unsuccessfully tried to pawn the rest of the work off to other users in NEW, but now I will open it up to anyone who wants to finish my work. It was a labor of love and all it needs is a creative writer who will probably need to churn out another 30-40k words to complete the adventure.

This was to be the launching thread: https://simulationhockey.com/showthread.php?tid=107213

And this was the host thread that was going to have all the posts: https://simulationhockey.com/showthread.php?tid=107215

Hit me up if you feel like finishing my great work because you like to write and need a pet project about hockey.

The writeup for money:
You step on to the ice for the seventh game of the Challenge Cup. After a rough season where your team has battled constantly against the rest of the division and almost missing out on the playoffs in general, you have battled your way here to Game 7. This is your first season in the SHL and you feel lucky and gracious enough to be on a team with skilled veteran core. You are looking to make an impact on this game and really want to find a way to do something meaningful so your team can take this cup home.

Will you risk yourself and win it all? Will you skate by and let others have grand moments? Or will you lose the cup and look back on this year with crushed dreams?

This will all be decided based on the actions you take.

Along the road you will gain keywords as abilities, it will be up to you to remember what you gain so I recommend writing them down (there arent so many). These will influence some decisions you can make and the endings you get.

WARNING: This will suck for mobile users as each link will open a new tab, I was hoping it
wouldn't but got no such luck.

Welcome to!!!

SHL: A Challenge Cup Odyssey

As you walk into the colosseum the roar of the crowd is almost too much to bear. Always the games before had a certain way about them that belayed a sense of life or death. Not true death mind you, but death by overwhelming pressure. You always wondered if you would come out of this a diamond in the rough or just a piece of charcoal.

This year has been your proving ground so far. You aren’t a star rookie by any means but you’ve thrown up 25 points in your first season. Your physical strength is pretty good and you can throw a punch or two if provoked. You have good defensive knowledge, but you aren’t very polished yet. You are a power forward by nature and you try to evaluate your ice time to strategize between that or an area sniper. Your skating skills are a little above average with your strength and youth usually being enough to push some of the older players out of your way. It would be good to remember to play to your strengths in the games to come.

As each player gets their named called and they race out from the dugout you cant help but feel an equal amount of excitement and dread. Finally you can see the people up ahead of you, and there are only two other players in the line. Soon there is just one. Soon you hear your name blaring over the loud speaker as they announce the rookie to a crowd that is just deafening.

A. Focus on the crowd and grandstand a little bit.
B. Put your head down and skate to your spot, you don’t want any spotlight.

Aa. You rush out from the hallway with your hands raised. You are showing off and the crowd is loving it… right until you miss a cord that was some how left out on the ice and you trip right on to your knees. You feel embarrassed but recover quickly hoping no one remembers this moment for years to come. You are just a rookie after all.

Ba. You skate to where the rest of the team is lined up. Just outside of the entrance you notice a cable on the ground and effortlessly step over it. You smirk to yourself a bit and know that you would have tripped over it if you hadn’t been paying attention.

As you join your team on the line for the national anthem. The whole crowd goes silent. As the crowd strikes up the anthem with the singer, you get chills down your spine. The lightshow might be over, but you feel like you are ready for anything.

The final buzzer sounds. After a long 60 minutes of struggle back and forth. The whistles is blown and now your team has one last shot at coming together to put up some kind of plan to defeat your opponents. You've played a hard-fought game and you're so tired that the lines and squiggles that the coach is throwing out on the white board make almost no sense. You knew that the SHL would take more stamina out of you than you expected, and you gave it your all for every goal. But your best resulted in this tie game with nothing left for you to give.

You are gassed and that's all there is to say about it. You tried your best. It was a commendable effort. For every goal that the opponents scored you were able to put on up in return.

The buzzer finally rings for the return to play. You watch as your veteran first line goes out to do battle again. The faceoff does not go in your teams favor. Before you know it, the other team is setting up in your zone. You dread and hope for the tap to get you on the ice. You don't want to lose this game without having a chance to get out there and do everything that you can.

As the opponents circle like sharks, taking shot after shot. Each post is like a gong.

After three bells, the opponents have broken through and one loud clarion buzzer heralds your defeat.

You didn't even get to go on the ice before the other team scored.

Maybe in another dimension things could have gone differently. If only you had made different decisions...

The final buzzer sounds. After a resounding victory where you personally dominated the playing field, you feel like a king on top of the world. You played through each period like an offensive machine making the play you thought was most correct call each time.

In period one you scored 2 goals through force. In period 2 you scored 2 goals through finesse. Hockey IQ and perseverance helped you in period 3.

Now the game is over. The challenge cup is right before you as the SHL Commissioner brings it out. The ice is being showered with hats and confetti and calls for another cup. The fans are ever thirsty. You scored 6 goals in what would go down in history as the most dominant force an SHL rookie has ever shown in the Challenge Cup Finals.

As the cup is wheeled out you know that you won't be the first in line to hoist the beauty. That would go to your captain and your goalie who should tremendous effort out on the ice. Feel proud of knowing that you carried the cup to your team, and you put down all your cards when they needed you.

Congratulations.

But maybe if you had taken that fight back in the 2nd period. Or maybe if you tried another move. Is there even more glory out there?

If I were you I would go try it all out again.

Have you found all the endings? There are more than this one, that is for sure. Even some hidden ones that require special paths. See if you can find it.

The final buzzer sounds. After an outstanding victory where you personally dominated the playing field, you feel like a king on top of the world. You were an offensive machine. You scored 5 goals out there tonight and at the end of the game the scoreboard shows a big 5-0. You made a few defensive plays and stuck to your skills and strengths.

Now exhausted, you take a moment to reflect about the game before the cheering gets so loud that you have no room in your thoughts for anything besides celebrations. As you replay your actions from the night you can't help but linger over those moments where you could have played ever slightly more perfectly. I mean, you scored 5 goals and that's pretty damn good so no one is complaining.

The final buzzer sounds. After an incredible victory where you personally dominated the playing field, you feel like a king on top of the world. You were an offensive machine. You scored 4 goals out there tonight and at the end of the game, the scoreboard shows a super 4-0. You made a few defensive plays and stuck to your skills and strengths, but at the same time, you overreached in a few places. Maybe you played more conservatively than you thought?

As you replay your actions from the night you can't help but linger over those moments where you could have played ever slightly more perfectly. I mean, you scored 4 goals and that's damn sight better than most rookies at their first game 7 cup appearance.

But maybe if you had just taken the initiative and trusted yourself more, or maybe a bit less. Or maybe if you tried another move. Is there even more glory out there?

The final buzzer sounds. After victory where you shined on the playing field, you feel like a king on top of the world. You were something of a sight to see. You scored 3 goals out there tonight and at the end of the game, the scoreboard shows 3-0. You a few errors in your plays and stuck to your skills and strengths, but at the same time, you definitely overreached in a few places. Maybe if you had just stuck to your guns you could have really dominated this game. It seemed well within your reach.

Now exhausted, you take a moment to reflect about the game before the cheering gets so loud that you have no room in your thoughts for anything besides celebrations. As you replay your actions from the night you can't help but linger over those moments where you could have played ever slightly more perfectly. I mean, you scored 3 goals and that's still better than most rookies at their first game 7 cup appearance.

Now the game is over. The challenge cup is right before you as the SHL Commissioner brings it out. The ice is being showered with hats and confetti and calls for another cup. The fans are ever thirsty.

As the cup is wheeled out you know that you won't be the first in line to hoist the beauty. That would go to your captain and your goalie who should tremendous effort out on the ice. Feel proud of knowing that you carried the cup to your team, and you put down all your cards when they needed you.

Congratulations. You won this game!

You made a lot of rash calls out there at the end. Maybe next time you will trust your abilities and not try and do something crazy and that 3-0 could have easily been a 4-0. You just know it...

The final buzzer sounds. After victory where put your stamp on the ice and wrote your name in the lines you skated. You scored 2 goals out there tonight and at the end of the game, the scoreboard shows 2-0. You definitely made your fair share of errors in your plays, but at the same time, you definitely made some surprisingly good plays. At the end of the game, a win is a win and you get to taste victory so early in your career. No one said wins had to be amazing.

You made a lot of rash calls out there at the end. If you had just played it a little different you could have extended the cushion you gave your team and let them play with more confidence. Maybe, just maybe... there is another reality where you had an even better performance.

The final buzzer sounds. This win was not pretty, but you scored the games only goal. You scored that 1 goal out there tonight and at the end of the game, the scoreboard shows 1-0. You definitely made your fair share of errors in your plays, but at the same time, you definitely made the best play of the game. At the end of the game, a win is a win and you get to taste victory so early in your career. No one said wins were freely given ever.

Now exhausted, you take a moment to reflect about the game before the cheering gets so loud that you have no room in your thoughts for anything besides celebrations. As you replay your actions from the night you can't help but linger over those moments where you could have played ever slightly more efficiently or skillfully. I mean, you scored 1 goal, and that by itself is something to remember.

You made a lot of terrible calls out there at the end. If you had just played it a little different you could have given a cushion to your team and let them play with more confidence. Maybe, just maybe... there is another reality where you were able to have an even larger impact.

The final buzzer sounds. After an outstanding victory where you personally dominated the ice, you feel like a king on top of the world. You were an offensive machine. You scored 5 goals out there tonight and at the end of the game the scoreboard shows a big 5-1. You made a few defensive plays and stuck to your skills and strengths.

As you replay your actions from the night you can't help but linger over those moments where you could have played ever slightly more perfectly. I mean, you scored 5 goals and that's pretty damn good so no one is complaining. Yet that one turnover that you caused is just a slight black mark on your otherwise steller game. What could you have done to make a better play?

Now the game is over. The challenge cup is right before you as the SHL Commissioner brings it out. The ice is being showered with hats and confetti and calls for another cup. The fans are ever thirsty. You scored 5 goals in what would go down in history as one of the strongest showings an SHL rookie has ever shown in the Challenge Cup Finals.

As the cup is wheeled out you know that you won't be the first in line to hoist the beauty. That would go to your captain and your goalie who should tremendous effort out on the ice. Feel proud of knowing that you carried the cup to your team, and you put down all your cards when they needed you.

But maybe if you had taken that fight back in the 2nd period. Or maybe if you tried another move in that defensive opportunity. Is there even more glory out there that you could have had? Maybe there is a hidden ending that you need to go back and find?

The final buzzer sounds. After an incredible victory where you personally dominated the playing field, you feel like a king on top of the world. You were an offensive machine. You scored 4 goals out there tonight and at the end of the game, the scoreboard shows a super 4-1. You made a few defensive plays and stuck to your skills and strengths, but at the same time, you overreached in a few places. Maybe you played more conservatively than you thought? You gave up in a situation as well, so that one is also on you. You remind yourself that you can't always hold back.

Now exhausted, you take a moment to reflect about the game before the cheering gets so loud that you have no room in your thoughts for anything besides celebrations. As you replay your actions from the night you can't help but linger over those moments where you could have played ever slightly more perfectly. You scored 3 goals out there tonight and at the end of the game, the scoreboard shows 3-1. You had a few errors in your plays but stuck to your skills and strengths. Somehow you definitely feel like you overreached in a few places and it cost you opportunities that were right in front of you. Maybe if you had just stuck to your guns you could have really dominated this game. It seemed well within your reach and a couple bad plays shouldn't really hold you back, right?

Now exhausted, you take a moment to reflect about the game before the cheering gets so loud that you have no room in your thoughts for anything besides celebrations. As you replay your actions from the night you can't help but linger over those moments where you could have played ever slightly more perfectly. I mean, you scored 3 goals and that's still better than most rookies at their first game 7 cup appearance. One of your errors caused a turnover that resulted in a goal against and that doesnt feel so great. You also made some decisions out there and missed out on some goal chances.

Now the game is over. The challenge cup is right before you as the SHL Commissioner brings it out. The ice is being showered with hats and confetti and calls for another cup. The fans are ever thirsty.

As you replay your actions from the night you can't help but linger over those moments where you could have played ever slightly more perfectly. I mean, you scored 2 goals and that's amazing. But one of your errors led to the other team scoring off your play, and you had so many opportunities that were just begging for a swish into an empty net. If you think about your play style you can probably target all of your mistakes. What if you could just go back and start again. A win is a win, but this was a tight race. They almost tied it and you could have lost.

Now the game is over. The challenge cup is right before you as the SHL Commissioner brings it out. The ice is being showered with hats and confetti and calls for another cup. The fans are ever thirsty.

Dont Give up!

The final buzzer sounds. Crestfallen, you drop to the ice as you realize that your best effort just wasn't enough. That goal, that single goal on the scoreboard, was given up because of your mistake. You made a lot of decisions tonight and not a one of them came through successfully. The scoreboard shows 0-1. You definitely made your fair share of errors in your plays, but at the same time, you definitely made calls that kept the game tied. At the end of the game, a loss this close can only make you more frustrated than anything else.

Now exhausted, you take a moment to reflect about the game before the cheering gets so loud that you have no room in your thoughts for anything besides getting out of there. As you replay your actions from the night you can't help but linger over those moments where you could have played ever slightly more efficiently or skillfully. It's a shame and it hurts at the moment. But scientists have been talking about if just the right circumstances line up you can try again.

Now the game is over. Your hard season has come to an end. As you straighten your shoulders to walk out with a little of pride left. You see the opponents goal light up in a golden light. A voice says in your head "REPLAAAAAAAAYYYYY?????"

You made a lot of terrible calls out there at the end. If you had just played it a little different you could have given a cushion to your team and let them play with more confidence. Maybe, just maybe... there is another reality where you were able to have an even larger impact.

You made a few defensive plays and stuck to your skills and strengths, but at the same time, you overreached in a few places. Maybe you played more conservatively than you thought? Twice tonight, you made a bad call and in those moments of weakness, you allowed the opponents to score on you. Why did you make those decisions? Did you forget about your player strengths in the heat of the moment?

Now the game is over. The challenge cup is right before you as the SHL Commissioner brings it out. The ice is being showered with hats and confetti and calls for another cup. The fans are ever thirsty.

As the cup is wheeled out you know that you won't be the first in line to hoist the beauty. That would go to your captain and your goalie who should tremendous effort out on the ice. Feel proud of knowing that you carried the cup to your team, and you put down all your cards when they needed you.

But maybe if you had just taken the initiative and trusted yourself more, or maybe a bit less. Or maybe if you tried another move. You can do better right? There are other ways this could have ended, are you brave enough to try it again?
