When I recreated this time I was coming off an inactive bust player, plus I had infamously abandoned my post as GM with no explanation prior to said bust, so I knew my reputation wasn’t sparkling and didn’t expect to get much attention with Jimmy. I had considered writing something to try and explain what happened to me, but in the end I just wanted to play this game of ours and so I opted to focus on making JLC a fun player for me. Getting bounced around to a couple of teams in Baltimore and Winnipeg before ending up with Toronto gave me a greater appreciation for being able to play with one team for so many seasons. During Jimmy’s rookie and sophomore seasons I never would have imagined he would climb so high on the North Stars’ franchise leaderboards, or be among the most productive players in his draft class. Seeing what JLC has accomplished, I’m especially grateful for the effort from the North Stars management to help develop Jimmy as a young player.
Heading to Seattle for S76 brought with it a lot of excitement, for me and presumably for Jimmy. Personally I’ve always been a fan of the branding, and admired the team’s overall success as an expansion franchise in the SHL. So naturally, getting the chance to bring one of my players to the organization was a no-brainer to me, even if expectations for the team were quite low, because there’s some prestige that goes with wearing the Argonauts jersey. I’m grateful for the opportunity the organization gave me to extend Jimmy’s career a little further, and for the welcoming attitude I was met with. I'm not sure if they'll have room for JLC next season, but there's no rush to figure that out just yet.
Jimmy has been chasing down 1,000 games and 1,000 points, but with regression eroding his body more aggressively with each passing season, it’s felt more like a pipe dream these last few seasons. Now 1,000 games is easy, as long as there’s a team willing to sign Jimmy, but 49 points seems far out of reach for a player who hasn’t reached the 50 point mark since S74, and I’m not sure I can keep myself invested to drag him there. So one more season is all Jimmy’s going to get, and that’s not even a sure thing at this point with him being a free agent.
In the end, even if Jimmy has already played his last game, I’m already looking forward to what my next player might be able to accomplish. The recreate will be coming soon after the playoffs conclude, but for now I’ll just wait and see if Jimmy can lock down one last contract.
