S77 IIHF Roster & Special Announcement
Greetings unto you all from the land of His Majesty King Carl Gustaf Folke Hubertus! Normally the privilege of posting this announcement belongs to my esteemed Co-Federation Head, but as he is away traveling to exciting distant places, the honor is mine this season! And what an honor it is! Over the past few seasons, we have seen a shift in the core of this team, with some Tre Kronor legends hanging up the skates and heading off into their well-deserved retirements. Before we commence with the roster announcement, I would like to recognize one of those legends. Tomas Lind (@Canadice) first appeared on the IIHF roster in S62. He played in a total of fourteen IIHF tournaments for Sweden, amassing a total of 133 points in the round robin, and an additional 23 points in the medal rounds. Lind was also a longstanding member of the Swedish leadership group, wearing a letter at least nine of his fourteen tournaments (it might be more but it seems access to any of the FHM6 IIHF files prior to S66 has been restricted and I can't pull those files to check). Playing for Sweden, Lind took home an impressive three gold, three silver, and one bronze medal, as well as two WJC silver medals. Beyond his contributions on the ice, though, it is impossible to overstate the positive impact he has had on the locker room and the team as a whole. For all of this, we have chosen to honor Tomas Lind by retiring his jersey number (18) and bestow upon him this token of our eternal gratitude for everything he has done for this team. Tomas, tack för dina många år av hårt arbete, och det djupa engagemang du har visat för detta lag och ditt land.

Now, with our special business concluded, we will move on to our roster announcement! As usual we will begin with our captaincy group! Our captains for this tournament, decided as always by team vote, will be:
( C ) - Willow Söderberg-Snooks ( A ) - Matsmith Söderberg-Tremblay ( A ) - Adelie de Pengu
----------
Moving on, we will first take a look at our forward lines. We are excited to welcome two rookie forwards to the IIHF roster for their first tournament, and look forward to seeing the many wonderful things they will accomplish for Sweden in their careers! This will also be the final IIHF tournament for Lias Ekholm-Gunnarsson, who has informed us of his intention to step back into a more defensive role to suit the needs of his SHL team next season.
Moving on to our defense! Our defensive core has a wide range of ages and experience, from grizzled veteran Adelie de Pengu to sophomore Niclas Sundqvist, who appeared on the roster for the first time last tournament after the conclusion of his third SMJHL season! A talented defense has always been a huge part of Sweden's success, and this season will be no exception, I am sure.
And finally, tending the goal for us this season, we see Denebor Milasch in his first season as primary starting goalie, as well as rookie Herman Ståhl taking on the backup role in his first IIHF tournament!
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read this, congratulations to our rookies and retirees, and good luck to the team as we begin the round robin, which we are totally pretending we aren't already two games into! Heja Sverige!
