Hey everyone it's Dale Murphy reporting here from Hamilton
The Forge and the Steelhawks got two game in since my last report, and it does appear that we have avoided time travel issues this time. Good to hear, we won't see any crying. Either way, here's how game three and four went down. Game three began well for the Steelhawks. On their first six shots they had themselves four goals. Paul Koivu, Activity Check, Tommi Koivu and Activity Check's second of the period was enough to chase Forge starter BASE PACK to the bench at the close of the first. Ricky Koivu got one in the middle of all that for the Forge, but the first period ended with a 4-1 lead for Hamilton. But playing the league's best team, no lead is safe. So just 12 minutes into the second, Activity Check decided to complete the hat trick, with the crowd going totally wild as the hats covered the ice, the game had to be stopped for quite a while. Is a 5-1 lead safe? Well just two minutes later, right after completing a kill of a Leonard Wood penalty for tripping, Johnny Shuffleboard got one back for the Forge, making it 5-2. Shuffleboard has not played well so this goal may get him stated. Something must have been said in the Forge locker room, because this game became 5-5 before you could blink. Cale Salad, Nathaniel Barca and Gnabe Dobson all scored within the period's first 5 and a half minutes. Leading for some drama. But the tie lasted just over a minute, as Bnana Waffles made it 6-5. A flurry of chances at the end of the game led to nothing, and the Steelhawks had their first win of the series. Game four definitely saw the pressure shift over to Philly. They did not want to come home with a tied series and they needed a win. Still, Activity Check continued his monster series scoring his fifth goal, to give Hamilton the early lead. Under a minute later, Gnabe Dobson got his fourth to tie the game. Iliket Urtles gave Hamilton the lead halfway through the period. Midway through the second Jani Manty took an unsportsmanlike conduct call, letting the Forge PP get to work. Graj Virrok made Manty pay, getting himself on the scorecard for the first time in the series, knotting the game at two. Five minutes later, a 4v4 chance saw Iliket Urtles get his second of the night. Tony Sparano made it 3 all before the 4v4 completed. A wild period, and the game was tied heading into the third. Alas for the Steelhawks the third did not go they way they wanted. Cale Salad broke the tie on the PP, his fifth goal on the series second on the PP, Ubba Lodbrok made it 5-3, and an empty netter from Tony Sparano iced the game. So the series will now shift back to Philly, as the Forge will look to send the Steelhawks golfing without having to return to Canada. We will see what happens. That's all today folks, Dale Murphy signing off --- 521 Words, 2x team spotlight |
