The most beautiful thing about the logos is that some of them grow on you with time. Some of them works the opposite though. I love time to time check on SHL or SMJHL logos and make a tier list of them, describing why I like them or why I don't. This will be once again that time. Let's take a look at SMJHL logos.
I will start with saying that I love seeing SMJHL getting bigger. I remember when it had only few teams. Now it has 16 clubs already and it seems like there might be another expansion after some time. So many junior teams means competition not only on the ice, but on the forum as well, so logos have a pretty big role here too.
And before we start, I remind y'all that I couldn't draw a fucking straight line with ruler. I know that I couldn't make something even close to these logos too. It's just what I like and what I don't. The point is to get SHL balance for personal coaching anyways, lol.
1. Thunder Bay ''Walleye'' -
I think that this team had an amazing re-branding. Regina ''Elk'' wasn't a bad project, but it needed some changes, something fresh. I found about these changes just in the pre-season. Tried to find re-branding topic on the forum, went through it and understood the reason of them changing things up. They still stayed with the same color scheme, moved to a different city, changed branding and improved logo. I think it's a cool logo with a fish. Something not so original, because we have Vancouver ''Whalers'', Carolina ''Kraken'', Tampa Bay ''Barracuda'' and other water animals (past and present), but at the same time unique and modern, because of how it looks. That's why new generation logos might be at the top of this tier list. I just like how cool they are looking and they doesn't remind of some very old project. I know that some of those logos are historic and should stay forever, but some of them should change.
2. San Diego ''Tidal'' -
Previous time this team was in the first place in my tier list and nothing has pretty much changed. I still think that this branding is one of the most unique in SHL and SMJHL history combined. Original color scheme and team name. Something unusual, plus it has a great city where they are based at. Logo has many small features which you can see only if you take a deeper look. Nothing to add, nothing to take off. It's modern and definitely one of my favourites.
3. Quebec City ''Citadelles'' -
This is one of the new generation SMJHL logos as well. I think that it's very simple, but has a great and a professional look. Some professional sports team in the world could use something similar. I like the small feature of QCC in the middle of that bird too. Everything about it is pretty simple, but exactly that makes it perfect.
4. Carolina ''Kraken'' -
I think that I am not the right person to judge the logo of a team which I have been a part of. However, I always liked how ''Kraken'' are looking brand wise. It wasn't the best team in the standings, but the logo... Always loved it! It's not a square, triangle, circle or anything like that. Unique shape, interesting team name with good colors and great font. I have always loved it and it hasn't changed.
5. Ottawa ''Highlanders'' -
This logo is something modern and new, but has that authentic and old look. Sort of a mix of both. I think it's a solid logo which deserves this spot. However, I think that it's missing the name of the city in it. Of course, it might look worse with a name on it. There is probably a reason why this logo looks how it looks, but I think that it's still a good logo which is better than a majority of what we have in the SMJHL.
6. Detroit ''Falcons'' -
Detroit has so long history that this team is like a face of the SMJHL. I love that they have always kept their name and colors. They only improved logo and it was a good choice. Modern and simple logo which looks like some sort of origami. Most definitely better than average. Obviously, history helps. They remind me Chicago ''Bulls'' from NBA. Long history, small logo changes, sometimes playing good, sometimes bad, but it's pretty much the first time which you associate with SMJHL.
7. Vancouver ''Whalers'' -
This logo looks like it actually could be for some sort of professional sports team as well. I never liked their previous one. Don't know why, but it always game me a weird feeling. It was too simple and had nothing special. However, this one is a solid improvement and looks good between all teams.
8. Nevada ''Battleborn'' -
Solid logo which usually was much higher in my lists. It's again a mix between something old and new. Team name on the logo gives me a vibe of some old fantasy movie. However, this idea turned out pretty great and I think that it's a very interesting logo which is hard to hate. Everything about it is original.
9. St. Louis ''Scarecrows'' -
This logo is the one who has grew on me with time. I had always put this logo at the bottom of my lists. Of course, it's still pretty low in my list now, but I think that the idea itself is pretty cool, because there isn't many original ideas like this with team names, logos and everything else. Of course, I still think that this logo could be improved a bit. It could be more modern, maybe with a team name on it. Long history, authentic logo. Logo improvement would be interesting to see.
10. Colorado ''Raptors'' -
Since my previous player played for this team, this one has the similar issue as ''Kraken''. Hard to rate it, because my player has played there. I think that playing for a team make you love more their logo. However, I think that the old logo was one of the worst that league had. It was weird, had a vibe of a comics book. This one is more modern. I would love to see a team name on it, but it's still alright. I think that this spot resembles this team in general. About average.
11. Kelowna ''Knights'' -
I think that ''Knights'' has a similar history to ''Falcons''. It's an iconic franchise, but doesn't look so good as ''Falcons'' (if we talk about logo). I would love to see them make a solid branding improvement just like Detroit did. Logo is still pretty solid, but making it more modern might switch things up, give some fresh feeling for this squad. However, it's still okay.
12. Yukon ''Malamutes'' -
''Malamutes'' always gives me mixed feelings. One part of me says that it's an okay logo, but other gives me an NBA 2K ''create a team'' type auto generated logo. Color scheme with red, blue and white is an interesting mix, but it gives me even more confidence to say that it's some auto generated logo. However, it's still interesting - from the city to the name. It's just how you look at this.
13. Anchorage ''Armada'' -
I have never really liked these ship or boat type logos. And I have always received hate from this team when I say that I don't really like it. I assume that there are some users who actually enjoy it, but I am not one of them. I respect the work and effort, but it's not my type and I just don't understand it. And I'm sure that my opinion anyways isn't the most highest rated, so it's okay.
14. Newfoundland ''Berserkers'' -
It brings me a feeling of Chicago ''Blackhawks'' logo, but with more dark color scheme. Grey, black, white, red. I have never really liked this logo, but to be fair - I liked how it looked on championship banner when they won one. I think that the name of this team is original and cool, but logo just doesn't fit. If it would look more modern, I am pretty sure that I would love it, because the team name itself is pretty cool.
15. Maine ''Timber'' -
''Timber'' has an interesting logo, but I really can't view it as a logo for a hockey team. It's not my favorite, and as I said before - it's very cartoon-ish and a bit weird. It's a tree which has letter ''M'' on it and two axes crossing it. I understand the idea, but it just doesn't bring the joy. I'm sure that someone here likes it, but it's not my favorite.
16. Great Falls ''Grizzlies'' -
This logo would be at the top of this list if they would somehow find a way to put team name on it or made it more interesting with some details. Now it looks a bit empty. Looks like the logo was already found done on the internet and just downloaded. The thing is that I know that it probably wasn't just found somewhere. Someone put a lot of effort in it, but I just know that it could have been more interesting. One of those bear teams which doesn't turn me up.
However, I remind y'all that I am not the expert. I am just talking from a perspective of neutral user. If I would be a new user who knows nothing and sees just logos, this would be my destination tier list. Most cool stuff about it is that it's subjective and other people might have it completely opposite. So don't start panicking and enjoy the weekend. Best of the luck in S78 everyone!

Since I don't know history of this place, it's cool to hear it now. Great use of it!
