Welcome to the second (and third) annual ceremony for the San Diego Tidal's awards! Sorry for the huge delay of last season. I've got a full-time job for the whole summer, so I wasn't able to do the S77 in time. Don't worry, I will do the winners on this post. At each end of the season, the staff team of the San Diego Tidal will give awards for their players to indicate their best performance through the season. The awards very with certains categories with every classes that are in the Junior League right now (s76 to s79). Let's get started! Shall we?

Before we start with the awards, the team wants to congratulate Sam Volta and Gina Pinard, who during S77, helped the team producing a lot of points to help the team getting some points. However, they were traded in a blockbuster trade in Nevada to help the two teams in short and long term. The staff team wants to thank these players for the wonderful two and a half season with the team!

Tide Pods Award

At each end of the season, the staff team will awarded their best rookie with the Tide Pods Award. You are wondering why it's called like that? Well, depending on the activity of the player and his stats, the San Diego staff team will choose one of his ‘’Tide Pods’’ to earn that wonderful award. Fun fact, Takk named the Tidal the ‘’Tide Pods’’, but he doesn’t want to name all the team that name, so Fish and Corey named that nickname for the rookies. It gives a funny look for the team aswell. Really looks like the real pods from Tide when you do your laundry lol!

For the season 77, the Tide Pods award goes to the goalie Walter Scheibli. Even if the Tidal haven't the best season, he helped to make the team gathering a couple wins to keep fighting the team in the race for a better spot in the playoffs, even if he struggles during his rookie season. We also want to shout out Felix Carlsson, who helped a lot the second trio, feeding a lot Gina Pinard with some beauty assists. They chose a goalie because, he was the most active in the locker room between these two and the goalie was very more important because no goalies = a lot of goals allowed. We also want to shout out Anthony Simmons III, who is a player who came from the wire line during the s77's season and helped a lot in the defence for the team.

For the season 78, the Tide Pods award goes to the right winger: Bernard Kochese. In fact, he was the #1 Left winger for the team. On the first trio, he helped a lot of his teammates to gain some goals and assists. Even if they got a big change during the mid-season, he still manage to keep the same rythm as the first 2 weeks of his campaign. We want also to shout out every rookies during the 78 season (waivers or not): Josie Cass (RW), TBFAW (RW), Roisin Armagh (LD), Gage Bishop (RW) and Jeremy Snugglemuffin III (RD).

Beaufort Award

At each end of the season, the staff team rewards their best defenceman with the Beaufort Award. Well why Beaufort is the name of that award? To re-explain the context, the word ‘’Beaufort’’ means the scale of waves intensity in the ocean, from 0 to 12 (12 is the highest and dangerous one). Which means that a defenceman is well deserved to get it if he helps the team defensively because nothing can pass through a high wave intensity.

For the season 77, the Beaufort Awards goes to Marko Kivimaki. In fact, Marko helped to produce some points offensively with 27 points. But that's not the whole reason why he surpass the other defencemen from the San Diego Tidal! Marko leads the team in blocked shots (158 blocked shots) and the second defencemen in hits (with 82 hits). Marko really sacrificed himself to block a lot of shots from the opposing team in each game.

For the season 78, the Beaufort Award goes to Max Hammer. In fact, Max haven't really made a lot of offensive points. The real thing is, he made over 225 blocked shots during the whole season. That's at least 3 blocked shots, in average, per game! Marko Kivimaki has almost got that award a second time in a row. Sadly, he only blocked over 170 shots, which is less than Max, but still impressive!

Coral Award

At each end of the season, the staff team gave to their best goalie the Coral Award. To re-explain the true meaning of the award, in context, in the oceans, the corals are a real barrier to any natural disaster caused by Mother Nature (Hurricanes, Cyclones and Tsunamis). The corals reduce the intensity of hurricanes and tsunamis which helps a lot the ground to get more secure. Like in hockey, goalies help a lot a team because they save the shots from the opposing team, that leads to less goals.

For the season 77 AND season 78, the award goes to Walter Scheibli. In fact, the true reason behind this is, even if he struggles during his first two season in the Juniors, he is still the activest goalie between the two goalies in the team. No comment. Period!

Dolphin Award

The Dolphin award is granted to the player who got the less penalty minutes (PIM) during the full regular season. However, the player must play the full season if he wasn’t claimed by the waivers (except trades if there’s any during the season).

For season 77, the Dolphin Award goes to AEric Calland. He made only 14 penality minutes during the whole season.

For season 78, the Dolphin Award goes to Simon Hayes. He made 18 penalty minutes across the season. However, Klims Jevsejevs had almost won it, missing the last game because of his inactivity. He made 17 penalty mintues, which is 1 less than Simon. So, we will still give a ''little'' Dolphin Award because it will be unfair to miss only 1 game to miss the whole award! The San Diego isn't like Mike Babcock who didn't let played their star, Mike Modano, because he doesn't want Modano to get his 1500 games!

Gulls Eye Award

The Gulls Eye Award is granted to the best player of the team (aka. MVP or Most Valuable Player). For this award, the player will also get a huge 1-week contract with the San Diego Gulls, from the AHL, which is why this MVP award is sponsored by them.

After a lot of discussion, for the season 77, the staff gave this award to Gina Pinard. In fact, Gina made some remarkable efforts to lead the team in points, even if this player was a 2nd trio center. We will give an honourable mention to Sam Volta, who was the winner of last season, but also made a heating race during the whole season for the points.

For the season 78, this award goes to Felix Carlsson. In fact, even if he lead the team in points, he also helped the team to cover the loss of Sam Volta and Gina Pinard, who were traded during the mid-season in Nevada. He took the whole risk to be the #1 center of the team, and did surprisely well.

We also have a couple awards left that we didn’t have any name for now, but here are those awards:

For season 77,
Best Forward – Winner: Gina Pinard (with 71 points)
Cookie Award (Best goal scorer) (most goals in a season) – Winner:  Daquavion Davis II (with 30 goals)
Dynamite Award (Best Locker Room Activity) – Winner: Sam Volta

For season 78,
Best Forward – Winner: Felix Carlsson (with 51 points)
Cookie Award (Best goal scorer) (most goals in a season) – Winner:  Daquavion Davis II (with 30 goals)
Dynamite Award (Best Locker Room Activity) – Winner: TBFAW, Roisin Armagh and Josie Cass. They were pretty much equal in the activity inside San Diego's Locker room. So that's why there's 3 winners for this award this season.

I think that concludes the awards for season 77 and 78. Sorry again for the delay of season 77. Hopefully, I will be back on track and on time for season 79, and with more awards! We also thanks Corey and Fish who made the huge decisions to manage the Tidal.
