Dale Murphy Report- S79 IIHF USA
#1

Hey everyone it's Dale Murphy! I'm here for the Dale Murphy report today from Philly!

Isn't it so nice that the USA got to host an international tournament? Usually feels like I have to fly halfway across the world whenever I have to report on one of these.

But being at home had no bearing on the abilities of the USA players. It has been another embarrassing efforts as once again the States failed to make it out of the round robin play. This is supposed to be a real hockey nation.

However some players still should be talked about in my report, so here they are.
Thomas Liebold had a very nice 5-6-11 line in the 12 games. But while 5 goals is nice over 11 games, you'd like to see a little more scoring from you top scorer. Thomas had a nice effort, but somebody needs to score more than that.
I'm very disappointed with Johnny Shuffleboard. He penned a little letter for the Atlantic about his lack of a breakout moment here in the bigs as opposed to the Js, and I really thought he'd breakout now. Alas, 5 assists and that's all she wrote. Not ideal.
The goaltending leaves some to be desired. Justin Time was the primary goalie, went 5-3-1, but the .858 is not too good. Scary Jerry went 1-2 and his .883 might be a touch better but still not enough.

All in all, the States should get their act together as one of the primer hockey nations. They haven't medaled in forever. The should do something different.

That's all folks!
