S79 SFP Team Awards

Toast
SHL GM Hallsy's Idiot of the Year Happy holidays, SHL! I hope everyone is enjoying S80 so far. I’ve been on this league for 13 years now and it’s incredible that S100 is within sight. Still lots of time to go of course, but we’re nearly there. With how much this league has progressed with the portal/trading cards/FHM/everything, I have no doubt that we’re going to hit that mark and sail past it. I’m looking forward to being here for that milestone as well! We have a fantastic community and while things can get a bit… chaotic at times let’s say, it’s really the people here currently that make it clear that the SHL will continue on for years to come and continue to succeed.
Anyways, that’s not why I’m here of course. It’s time to present the San Francisco internal team awards for S79! The past season really could not have gone better for the Pride. Things were looking bleak when Caleb had to step aside. Thankfully, BadWolf had just stepped into the Co-GM role and was interested in taking over the team. Once she was named the successful applicant, I soon jumped back into management as her Co to help pick up what was going on for the Pride. Together with the help of a dedicated war room, we were able to make moves to help build the Pride into a continued force in the Pacific division and league overall. The pieces fell together and with some strong coaching from RAmen and the team, we were able to see some strong success. Let’s take a brief moment to go over the accolades… The most important accolade for the team is obviously winning our second Challenge Cup in franchise history! It’s incredible to see this core of San Francisco that was built up through the late S60s-early S70s entry drafts and strong trades by Caleb continue to perform and win together. It has been a long time coming for San Francisco and we look forward to continue to fight the regression monster and hopefully add a few more championships to the history of the team. The team also managed to win the President’s Trophy as the only team to finish with a 100 point season! The team really found its chemistry between the players but before we get to the player accolades I just want to shout out the coaching staff for winning the Joe McKeil Award and the general manager duo for winning the Lance Uppercut Award (yay self praise)! We wouldn’t be the Pride without the dedicated work of everyone so thank you very much! Now onto the player awards from the off-season: Toasty - @Toast - Scott Stevens Award winner, Bojo Biscuit Award nominees, Aidan Richan Award nominee Sydney Shaw - @BadWolf - Bojo Biscuit Award winner Viktor Hargreeves - @lore - Jeff Dar Award nominee Dominik Winters - @39alaska39 - Anton Razov Award nominee Luke Fromm - Mike Honcho Award winner Justin Time - @RAmenAmen - Mike Honcho Award winner, John McBride Award winner, Anton Razov Award winner Logan Webb - @spidey - Anton Razov Award nominee, Sarmad Khan Award nominee, RON MEXICO AWARD NOMINEE Lots of fantastic accolades for our roster to show just how much of a team effort it is for everything to come together. Everyone plays their part in making sure we were able to make a run to the championship and it’s part of why we do these internal awards. This gives us the opportunity to shout-out the effort and performance of our users and share some information that may have been overlooked in the overall performances in the league. So without further ado, let’s get to the awards! The first team award we are going to present is the Jack Tanner Trophy. The Tanner is presented to to the player who was most underrated. There are a lot of standouts on the Pride and it’s certain that some efforts are going to be overlooked. The Pride vote on the player who was overlooked by the league as a crucial part of making sure the team made it to the Challenge Cup. Let’s take a look at our S79 finalists. Nominees - Sydney Shaw, Justin Time, Dominik Winters, Edzus Ozolins, and Levin Schattenaxt Per usual, the nominees are kind of all over the place as the Priders want to make sure that everyone is acknowledged and that’s great! Forgive me though, but I don’t think Time winning three awards this season is underrated! Winters sailed past 100 points this season as well and was one of our most important players. Love Alaska and RAmen but you two are not underrated. ) Shaw received the Biscuit win for a fantastics GA/TA ratio and was just a defensive staple for the team through the season. Ozolins continued to be the most clutch player surprising teams expecting an easier match up against the Pride’s third line and then Schattenaxt was also extremely consistent in even strength hockey for the Pride while those above him in point totals seemed to benefit more from the team’s dangerous special teams. There can only be one at the end though. Our S79 Tanner winner is… Edzus Ozolins - @Seany148 Congratulations, Seany! Each season we are always talking in the locker room about just how important Ozolins is to the team. While 39 goals is extremely strong and probably isn’t underrated, I agree that Seany definitely deserves this accolade since it’s easy to get over-shadowed by the players at the top of the scoring board. I’m confident that we don’t see the success of the Pride without Ozolins being one of the core players of the team. On to the next award, we have the Alex Petrenko Award! The Petrenko is our locker room leader award. Someone who shines day in day out, being there for the live sims, making sure everyone is having a fun time and just overall being a great user to be around. There are plenty of users who fall into this category which makes it such a competitive vote when all is said and done. Let’s take a look at the board this time around. Nominees - Viktor Hargreeves, Logan Webb and Dominik Winters These three being the finalists for the Petrenko is no surprise to me or probably anyone in the locker room. Lore, Alaska and Spidey are all consistent voices in the room since they were drafted to the team and the Pride would not be the same without any of these individuals. They have all been crucial voices in the direction of the team and have all made significant contributions over this generation of the team and I’m happy to see that they’re all getting well deserved shout-outs here. There was one user who got more votes here though and that person is… @spidey ! Back to back Petrenko wins for Spidey and I’m sure there will be more to come. There is nobody in the locker room or the league overall in my opinion that can match the hilarity that spidey has added to the league overall in the past year. S79 was filled with some incredible laughs thanks to spidey and if you’re unfamiliar I strongly encourage you to go diving into the media section or any job posting that is graced with a response from the man himself. Thank you for everything you bring to the Pride, spidey! Our next award is the Kelly Rivet award that is presented to the season’s most valuable player as decided by their teammates. This one is pretty straight forward since we are looking strictly at the numbers that happened in the sim. There were a lot of stand outs on the Pride through the season but the team ultimately decided on two players who shined above the rest. Our finalists… Nominees - Logan Webb and Justin Time I think these two being the only two finalists for the Rivet makes a lot of sense. Despite Time fighting some deep regression, Time continues to be one of the best goalies the SHL has ever seen. A very strong 90.8 save percentage through the season with seven shutouts saw Time win a slew of league awards this season and it was well deserved. Time added on a whopping 45 wins to his career as he continues to climb the all-time leaderboards. In front of him, Logan Webb put on a clinic through the SHL that saw him in conversations for the MVP of the league. Webb’s 53 goals was a mark that was strong enough to not just lead the entire team but only the league’s MVP was able to top it by one goal. Webb’s offense was a huge part of the reason that the Pride were able cruise into the playoffs. This season’s winner is… Logan Webb - @spidey Spidey winning back to back awards this season is special and shows just how important he is to San Francisco. Being one of the core users for the team, I’m sure that I speak for all Priders that we are thrilled to see the sim awarding that dedication to the team with some fantastic games. We knew we were getting something special back at the S71 Entry Draft and somehow Webb is exceeding those expectations. Hopefully next go around we will be able to add a Ron Mexico winner to Webb’s resume as well! Finally, it is time to award the Henrik Lekberg Osterman Award for the season. The HLO Award is presented to the player who was considered to best represent the team in the past season. This could be through locker room or on-ice contributions or something entirely outside both those things. The purpose of the HLO is to acknowledge someone who exemplifies what we are looking for from the Pride roster members in terms of their attitude and their contributions towards the league. Think of it as our own Littleton award. We want to lift these people up to give them the biggest of thanks and show to the rest of the league the great users that make the Pride the Pride. Here are the five nominees for this season: Sydney Shaw - @BadWolf An Uppercut win is not enough to praise the effort that BW put into leading the Pride this season. She was thrown into the fire of having to figure out SHL GMing on the fly essentially with a rough hiring timeframe and was not only able to make it work, but win it all in the process. She has made improvements to the roster and improvements to the team discord server by giving it a much needed facelift and reorganization. She leads by example and is always available when someone has questions or just needs to chat. This team probably falls apart without her and this nomination is well deserved. One roster member offered this as a reason for their nomination: “Stepped in and led this team in a way we had never seen before. Always chatting in the entire locker room and creates a lot of conversations.” Dominik Winters - @39alaska39 Alaska continues to be a staple of the Pride locker room and gets more involved by the season somehow. Always chiming in throughout the week, Alaska has kept the cute animal picture quota for the season fulfilled. On top of that, his graphics skills continue to improve and his contributions to the team can be seen as part of Sulo’s Championship banner for us that is live on the forum now. In my opinion, Alaska’s contributions to the team and league overall can go under the radar and I’m happy to see this nomination. Justin Time - @RAmenAmen Without RAmen, we don’t win the Challenge Cup. This can be said because Time stood on his head on a regular basis but more importantly, RAmen is a leading force when it comes to the FHM knowledge the war room currently has. The CEO of the Big Mean Owl Corp, RAmen has been a leader from the get-go for San Francisco and is one of the most active users the team has. Always happy to chime in on build suggestions or just to contribute to the bully Toast movement, RAmen is one of the users I consider the backbone of the team and the Pride would not be who we are without RAmen’s efforts. “Just a lovely ray of sunshine in the LR,” said one LR member. Viktor Hargreeves - @lore Oh captain, our captain! Viktor Netflix is inevitable. Despite getting up there in age alongside myself, Hargreeves continues to be one of the most successful players the team has seen. Now our goal scoring and point scoring leader in all of franchise history, Viktor has been an incredible player up front leading this generation of the Pride. Off the ice, lore has become one of my closest friends and definitely deserves the C on the virtual jersey. He is one of our most active voices in the locker room and is someone who exemplifies what qualities I love from a teammate. I was never fond of scouting while GMing because DMing new people scary but getting to know lore and become friends over the years was well worth the anxiety! “There's nobody on the team or in the league who quietly does more than Lore does. His dedication to the Pride has been clear from day one, whether he was a prospect, young player, league MVP or aging vet bringing experience and support to all of our players.” Logan Webb - @spidey Our final nominee for the HLO Award is Spidey! I’ve said a lot for spidey already through his wins above for season MVP and locker room awards so it shouldn’t be any surprise to anyone that we see him nominated here again for the HLO. Through Christmas poetry or funny media, he continues to keep the forum for the league active and continues to bring positive energy to the team as well. Minus attacking me for taking too long to type up these awards that is… the Pride aren’t the Pride without spidey and I look forward to many more seasons together! “See locker room haha he’s always around, helping and contributing,” said a teammate. Spidey is part of our life blood for sure! The S78 HLO Award recipient is… DOMINIK ALASKA WINTER WINTERS/ @39Alaska39! As mentioned in the above nomination, Alaska really does give his all for team success and the league overall. Contributing through various league jobs and however he can through San Francisco, getting him in the 71 draft is another highlight for this generation of the franchise. From graphics to celebrate the team or emojis to make sure we can praise stitch enough, Alaska makes sure we are well supplied for anything the team needs. Thank you for everything Alaska and congratulations! Shout out to everyone who won, received a nomination and/or voted! My time in San Francisco has been the highlight of my SHL journey and it’s thanks to the effort that you all put in to make this place great. !rollpride
