Good day SHL,

During their regular grading schedule, the PT team encountered some irregularities regarding @JustAnotherHockeyFan's PT’s, namely the claiming of a PT Pass for PT #0 and PT #1 of this current season while they are not allowed to do so. The team subsequently audited the previous seasons up until the last season in which they were employed as a simmer. Upon investigating the matter further, it was determined that while this was the case, there was plausible confusion on the user’s end due to their status as a current sim team member and internal guidelines for claiming a PT Pass. Despite the fact that the threshold was not met for legitimate use of a PT pass, we understand the user’s standing position on the team to have resulted in honest confusion. Nevertheless, the work required to claim the TPE from a PT pass was not completed.

This resulted in a total of 105 TPE that were illegally obtained from falsely claiming a PT Pass, contravening Section 1, subsection K, rule 2:  

Quote:Any Site Member who attempts to cheat by stealing money or TPE will be punished with a $5,000,000 fine, as well as a removal of the money stolen in money-related cases, or a removal of the TPE in TPE-related cases.
a. The SHL Head Office reserves the right to levy a harsher punishment based on the severity of the case.

With the most recent precedent being the NJBadApple punishment, Head Office voted to issue the following punishment:
- $5,000,000 fine
- 105 TPE reduction (1x the illegally obtained TPE).

We recognize that this was not a deliberate attempt to cheat, but rather confusion over the work required to earn the PT pass, and the user displayed willingness to immediately rectify the situation. Thus, we do not feel the need to levy a harsher punishment as we have in cases where the cheating was deliberate and/or malicious, so the punishment issued is the rulebook-prescribed punishment for illegally obtained TPE.

As always, JAHF has 48 hours to send an appeal request to any head of the appeals committee, currently consisting of @DrunkenTeddy and @Leafs4ever.

Please clarify on the TPE situation. 54 illegal, but punished 1x for 105 TPE?

Good timeframe of it all. Fair punishment with the precedent given. Can see an appeal down by a lot

Thanks for bringing that up, that's a bit of confusion from the other thread, rectified!

I think the 54 was a typo due to copy/pasting from the other similar punishment that just went up and it's just supposed to say 105 all the way down, but I'm double-checking.
