NEW YORK CITY, NY -- With the SMJHL Draft lottery coming up within the next couple of days future SHL stars, and current SMJHL prospects, have began flocking to New York City, New York where the S14 SMJHL Draft will be taking place. This is where many young player's dreams will become a reality, and the path to legendary status begins. Among those prospects flocking to New York City are the King Brothers, Paul and Rob King.
The two brothers, who have played together going as far as back as their days in Timbits hockey, have been touted as some of the best two-way defensemen to come through the SHL pipeline in the last few years. Some scouts have gone as far as saying that in their prime they could very well be up there with SHL greats such as Aidan Richan and Erik Chisling. Rob King( L ) and Paul King( R ) when playing with their junior team the Ottawa Hurricanes. When asked how they felt about the scouting reports and how highly they have been touted both brothers said that they are beyond flattered with these predictions, but that is all they are. That they will create their own legacy in the SHL. When also asked about possibly playing on different teams for the first time in their lives they joked saying that they wouldn't know what to do with themselves on the ice with a new defensive partner, as they have been playing on the same pairing their entire lives leading up to this point, they make each other better and scouts seem to agree. Scouts have said that the King brothers need to play together, they make each other better and they have that chemistry that only brothers could have, they know where they are, and they have the same skill sets so neither brother puts the other out of their comfort zone too much so that they would make a careless mistake. This poses an interesting question, how will the brothers respond to potential of being split up on and off the ice for the first time in their lives. Unfortunately, the brothers refused to comment simply saying that they haven't even thought about that yet. Irregardless of if they play with each other or not, these two are going to be a force in the SHL for years to come. They seem to be the complete package, they can pass, they can score, they can defend, they can check, they can play dirty, they skate as if they were born skating not walking, their endurance is spectacular and they can do everything in between just as well. These are two prospects to keep your eyes on. Code: 451 Words |
