St. Louis Scarecrows vs Montreal Impact St. Louis - 1, Montreal - 4 Montreal opened up this game on a tear as Nate Mercer looked to be on top of his game. At just under five minutes into the game he scored his fourth goal of the season, coming on assists from Jonathan Biron and Jamal Starr. Then, just six seconds later Mercer scored his fifth goal of the year, again on an assist from Starr as well as George Constanza. Eric Scheib scored his first goal of the young season just seven minutes later. Tom Jervis and Billy Derlago assisted on Scheib's goal. The Scarecrows looked to make a run back at the Impact in the second period. Issac Severin got his first goal of the season, as Peter McBuff and Roland Wolf assisted twelve minutes into the period, but they would fail to get anything else going in the period. Montreal would also no score, only managing three shots in the period. The third period brought less shooting from St. Louis, and they were not able to score at all. Montreal would add to their lead, getting a goal from Noah Kerr, his first of the season. Billy Derlago and Tom Jervis combined for the assists yet again. Jackson Weekes started in net for St. Louis. He allowed 4 goals on 19 shots before getting pulled. Dymo Ranjan was in net for Montreal, and saved 24 of the 25 shots he faced. Nate Mercer got the first star of the game following his two goal performance. Ranjan's one goal allowed earned him the second star for Montreal. Derlago earned the third star with his two assists in the game. Ranjan had a good night in net Vancouver Whalers vs Kelowna Knights Vancouver - 5, Kelowna - 2 The Vancouver Whalers got on the board first in this one, as Jay Robinson netted a power play goal just three minutes into the game. Thomas King assisted on the goal. Robinson added his fourth goal of the season just twenty seconds later for a two goal game. Kelowna answered back a minute later, as Dean Youngblood scored his first goal of the season. It took ten minutes, but Vancouver got their third goal of the period, coming from Cole Hogan, his first of the year. Thomas King got his second assist on Hogan's goal. The second period went off without a hitch, neither team was able to score in the period. Sebastian Ryder got a tripping penalty for Vancouver, but otherwise the period was uneventful. Kelowna looked to mount a comeback going into the third period, as Jan Cross got his first goal of the season just a minute into the period. Dean Youngblood got an assist on the goal, to add to his point total with a goal already scored. Ten minutes later Vancouver answered back again, as Thomas King scored a power play goal for the Whalers. Nicholas Flamel scored his first goal of the year for Vancouver as the game neared a close, giving the Whalers a 5-2 victory. Mike Schmidt got the win in net for Vancouver, saving 19 of the 21 shots he faced. Mathis Lundgren had a much tougher time in net, facing 32 shots and allowing 5 of them past. Jay Robinson got the first star of the night with his two goal and an assist performance. Dean Youngblood got the second star in the losing effort with his goal and assist. Thomas King rounded out the three stars, as the Whaler got one goal and two assists in the game. Robinson with a solid performance Detroit Falcons vs Regina Force Detroit - 2, Regina - 1 (OT) Regina got the game rolling early on, scoring a goal at just under four minutes into the game. Olivier Cleghorn netted the goal, his first of the year. Niklas Svensson and Alexander Kovalchuk both assisted on the goal. Regina had 14 shots on goal in the first period, and Detroit only managed 4. The second period was completely uneventful, except for Regina putting up 12 shots on goal. Detroit only managed 3 shots. Neither team scored or even recorded a penalty. The third period was starting to look like Regina might escape with a close victory, but Riku Showron had other plans. He scored his first goal of the season with just five minutes left in regulation, tying up the Falcons with the Force. Zanis Zarins and Mikko Kalash assisted on the game tying goal. The goal came on one of Detroit's six shots. Regina managed another ten shots but didn't find the net again, and the game went to overtime. Overtime brought some fast paced scoring attempts. There was only two minutes needed to settle the score, but in two minutes Detroit had two shots and Regina had three. One of Detroit's two found the twine as Johan Swanstrom got his first goal of the year as the winner. Zaniz Zarins got his second assist and Valts Pavasars also got one. Detroit won the game with only 15 shots, as Regina fell in overtime with 39 shots on goal. Colin Schmidt put up a gutsy performance, facing 39 shots in the game and saving all but one of them. His opponent, Mitch Kostur gave up two goals on his 15 shots, earning himself an overtime loss. Colin Schmidt truly earned the first star, keeping his team in the game even as he was facing shot after shot, making 38 saves. Johan Swanstrom's game winning goal earned him the second star of the game, and Zanis Zarins got the third star for his two assist game. Colin Schmidt with an amazing performance Summary Montreal mostly continued dominating their series with St. Louis. Ranjan continued his solid play. Jay Robinson led a big scoring performance from Vancouver, putting down Kelowna 5-2.
