Game 47

Knights @ Scarecrows

Sean Leonidas scoring his 14th of the season

4-Star Cup Finals rematches are usually tighter than this affair. St. Louis started out nice with Caesar Ali Rockefeller’s 1st goal of the season at the end of the 1st and Pavel Bursyuk delivering another quick goal at the start of the 2nd, but it went straight downhill for the home team from there. Sean Leonidas started the scoring for the Knights a minute after the Bursyuk marker and helped Karol Kuzmin get his 5th at the end of the 2nd to tie the game. Kelowna brought the wood and laid on 3 big goals in the 3rd. Tanner Carter and Etienne Modano scored within seconds of each other around 7 minutes in and Merit Csonka stretched the lead out to a ridiculous 3-goal gap 6 minutes later. Alas, the Scarecrows couldn’t recover and Kelowna carried the victory away from the defending 4-Star Champs.

RESULT:
:knightss: - 5
Scarecrows - 2

1st Star – Sean Leonidas, Knights (1G, 2A, 3P)
2nd Star – Armands Jaks, Knights (0G, 1A, 1P)
3rd Star – Keith Trubachev, Knights (0G, 2A, 2P)

Henrik Englund scores his 8th of the season in the home loss

Montreal was looking for the home ice to help around some against a tough younger Regina Force team, and it seemed that Henrik Englund would take the team to victory. His first goal in the 1st off the James Marushin hooking minor gave Montreal the lead through the 1st, and things looked good. But Marushin responded to the goal he gave up in the middle of the 2nd off some great passing from Jigsaw McGraw and Edge Ochocinco. Henrik responded with his 2nd of the night just 5 minutes later on yet another powerplay chance and Montreal again had the lead. He wouldn’t get lucky for the hat trick, instead letting McGraw score the tying goal on the powerplay from Jorma Ruutu’s early hooking penalty and Pomery hitting the double digit mark in goals with the game winner in the last 6 minutes of the game, again on the powerplay.

RESULT:
:force: - 3
:impact: - 2

1st Star – Henrik Englund, :impact: (2G, 0A, 2P)
2nd Star –Jigsaw McGraw, :force: (1G, 1A, 2P)
3rd Star – Anton Riga Jr., :force: (93.5% SV, 2.00 GAA)

Game 49

Scarecrows @ Whalers

Patrik Å atan with his 5th goal of the season

2 very defensive squads went at it here in Vancouver, with the Whalers and the Scarecrows having some recent 4-Star Cup history, St. Louis looked to win one on the road. Patrik Å atan started off the scoring in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd period! Yes, the 1st period was summed up with 2 quick Vancouver hooking minors and tons of defense to end scoreless. Pierre-Luc Laflamme the rookie tallied his 4th goal off the penalty-riddled Cole Hogan to tie things up late in the 2nd, hoping that would last. Sadly for the home crowd, that would not be, as Niklas Svensson, the surprise defensive scorer, scored his 6th goal of the season on the Sterling Knight game misconduct penalty (a real nasty unsportsmanlike play) to push St. Louis over the Whalers.

RESULT:
Scarecrows - 2
Whalers - 1

1st Star – Patrik Šatan, Scarecrows (1G, 0A, 1P)
2nd Star –Hunter Wong, Whalers (94.4% SV, 2.00 GAA)
3rd Star – Niklas Svensson, Scarecrows (1G, 0A, 1P)
