DENVER, CO -- Colton Hagan was coming off the ice after a preseason scrimmage when he was asked about the hottest topic in the SMJHL - the Deplorables, 5 players who decided to bypass the SMJHL Entry Draft and sign in Detroit. Hagan gave a sort of odd look to the reporter asking the question, and then went over to talk to them.

"That's the best question you've got?" The annoyance on his face was rather visible, as he stared at the beat reporter who had asked the question. He shrugged and continued. "Look, I know that their blatant collusion should be against the league rules, or at least punished, but you don't have anything else to ask about? No? Well, alright. Basically, I think they're a bunch of pigeon shits. People like to joke about New England as the Softpack, but whatever they might've done to get that reputation isn't as blatant or bad as this. That's all I've got on that, so if you don't mind..."

Hagan began to walk back to the locker room when he was asked about Jeff Kirkstone's decision to no longer play for the Detroit Falcons. He stopped and came back over to the reporters.

"Well, I'll be damned...anyway, if that's his decision, more power to him. I support him in his decision. Simple as that. The man wants to stand for his principles, he's damn well doing it, and I don't blame him. I wouldn't want to share the same locker room with those guys, and thank God I don't. Anything else, or can I get back there so I can change out?"

Another reporter asked if he planned to take the route Ryan Vas took and not play. Hagan scowled. "Vas isn't playing against Detroit? Look, that's dumb. If you really want to know what I will be doing, I'll tell you. I see these little entitled shits on the ice, I'll blow right the hell through them. They think they don't have to work like everyone else because of their connections, they're in for a rough surprise. I'm hitting them at every opportunity. If they want to stand up to that, they can drop them and receive an ass beating. That's how I'll deal with the bunch of pigeon shits, if I even see their 4th line asses on the ice for more than 5 minutes a game."

Hagan turned and walked off to the dressing room, refusing to answer any further questions. His message, however, was clear.

I'll play if my team wants me to play but the biggest reason why I don't want to play against those 4th lines is because it would just be too much fun to go headhunting against them. Ballerstorm will most likely put me in and so be it. I'll grind that axe.

Imagine how boring the off season would be right now without the Deplorables.
