The Raiders were starting their longest road trip after one of their worst match of the season. They received 10 penalty in the last game, which cost them the game. They would have to work hard during their trip to not create as many occasion for the other team to score. Penalty kill drills and rules reviews were in order for the team before going to Detroit.

The first period against the Detroit Falcons was a double edged sword for Halifax. The period started well for them. Around 6 minutes into the game, Dwayne Wyder managed to give his team an early lead when he received a pass from Yuri Boyka Jr. right in front of the net when Evgueni Marmeladov was out of position. However, following that play, the Raiders lost the momentum a few minutes later. Despite trying to get less penalties, Vinny Marino was punished for roughing, sending the Raiders penalty kill unit on the ice. Halifax kept their play simple and managed to stop the Falcons’ attack. The special units managed to demonstrate their ability twice in the rest of the period. Montek Ramrap was punished for cross-checking around 14 minutes into the first leg and Lukas Müller for slashing with only 2 minutes remaining.

The power play units of the Detroit Falcons managed to find a crack during the first minutes of the second period. Trucker Grogan received a bad penalty for holding around 4 minutes into the second twenty and was sent into the sin bin. This allowed Mathias Victorsson to beat Larry Enticer and even the score. However, Oliviz Klozoff worked really hard to gain back the lead and managed to do it around 2 minutes later. He found an opening right under Marmeladov’s glove and buried it as fast as he could into the net. Both team went back and forth the ice a few minutes without being a strong threat to the goaltenders. As the attack was moving once again into the Falcons zone, the officials saw Vijanupatan Singh put his stick right in the skates of one of the Raiders player and punished it with a 2 minutes into the penalty box.

The last leg of the game was really in favor of the Falcons. They managed to get an early momentum when Ramrap received his second penalty of the night for tripping. This allowed a few good shots on Enticer, but they didn’t managed to beat him. As the time remaining in the period decreased, the Falcons started to be more and more agitated, hoping to score a goal to even out the score. However, even with a few minutes remaining, they never managed to be in a position where they could put an extra attacker on the ice. Dawong Ho received a punition for tripping with only a little bit more than two minutes remaining. Despite outshooting the Raiders 10-2 in the last period, the Falcons didn’t manage to score, allowing Halifax to rejoice with the victory after a few hard defeats.

The unsung hero of the match for the Raiders was Lukas Müller. The defenseman was solid in front of his net, blocking 4 shots. He was also able to land an hard hit on the other team and tried to score twice. He managed to gain an assist during his 21 minutes on the ice.
