3….2…..1…. The buzzer sounds…. Toronto loses 3-2 in game 7 of the Challenge Cup Finals against the Winnipeg Jets. Toronto had one crazy run here but in the end, the Jets were able to beat out the North Stars in a comeback series going down 3-1 and coming up 4-3.
Cynthia Taylor on the ice following the loss. And as one legacy begins for the Winnipeg Jets. One is finally over. A bittersweet end to Cynthia’s career but one without regrets. She was briefly an alternate captain for Toronto, a backbone defensively, and the GM known as the cursebreaker. 13 seasons playing for the Toronto North Stars and 5 seasons in a management position. While never a stevens candidate nor one to bring much attention on the ice, the fans and the players will miss her on and off the ice. Now is not the time to reflect on her career and the game 7 loss however. The North Stars are still on the ice and we should honor the Challenge Cup Champions. Captain Kristian Eriksson leads the line as normal as Cynthia Taylor is right behind. The two teams begin to shake hands and offer congratulations to each other for their efforts. Taylor receives plenty of “great career†“you were always tough to play against†from the Winnipeg Jets players. At the end of the line is Luke Fleming and Scott Robertson, teammates all the way back from the SMJHL in Prince George. Nereus Atlas Cynthia hugs Fleming and afterwards hugs Robertson. “Out of all the people I would have to lose to in the finals, I’m glad it was you two, best of luck in the future boysâ€. Taylor skates over to the entrance of the bench, knowing this will be the last time she skates on the ice playing for the Toronto North Stars. She lingers there for a moment before turning around as her teammates congratulate her career. ThePandava You’re gonna be one hell of a defenseman in the future bud. You’ve been one of the best draft picks Toronto has ever had and I’ll miss playing with you on the ice. Symmetrik I can’t believe that in your first season, you managed to get this close, I know the result wasn’t what we were looking for in the end, but keep your head up, you can succeed. Plus you should start getting better on the ice soon so that’ll be a bonus. damienj10 You were one of the best trades this franchise has seen in a long time, you’ve been so clutch your whole career here and you were instrumental to our cup win 2 seasons ago. We went full West Kendall today didn’t we? Sorry about that. I’ll see you around bud. Mark H You old fuck. You did good though, we came up short as per usual but I suppose you’re already used to that aren’t you? ) Best of luck to whatever happens in life and hopefully you get to break a few more records before you ride off into the sunset raymond3000 The motherfucking captain. You’ve been captain for my whole career I think. You’ve stuck around our lows and were around when we had our highs. I don’t know how much longer you can keep this up, god doesn’t even know how you're still playing at an elite level you old fart. I’ll miss being captained by you bud. And with that. All the Toronto players have gone into the Locker Room as Cynthia takes one last look. She sees Luke Fleming raising the cup in the air as she smiles and heads down the hall one last time. Thank you to all of my teammates and friends over my 13 season career with Cynthia Taylor.
