Prince George loses in 7; players looking towards Draft

The Prince George Firebirds fought back from being down in their series against the Seattle Stingrays, only to lose in game 7. Although they lost, defender Gene Parmesan said that it wasnt a lost season.

"I don't see it that way, i think that it was a good season for the Firebirds and every player on it. I think that the season was a sucess, not the fact that we lost but that we made it to the second round and worked as a team."

"The entire Firebirds organization was great to me and to pretty much every other player, with really only one bad spot on the team, but you probably already know who that person is."

When asked about the draft, he had this to say,

"In the draft, ive heard that i will probably be going somewhere in the third or fourth round, but as for my teamates, Julien Dupont, he was my defense partner for some of the season and later on in the playoffs, i have heard he will be going high up in the draft, top 2 rounds definitely. Tobias Funke is one of the best players i have ever seen, if not the best. He is pure talent, the way he can pass that puck is amazing, not to say he cant shoot it either, but its amazing the things he can do with the puck if given the chance. David Winter, is far and away the most underrated player in the NWJHL this year, he is just a great guy on and off the ice, and should be going in the first round of the SHL draft. Ill only get into one more of my teammates, although i could go on all day about how great they are, Frank Jiao, he came to the Firebirds late into the season and he immediately showed that he has talent, he was scoring at over a goal per game, and was our best scorer out there, so if he doesnt go somewhere in the top 15 or so, i think teams would be making a mistake."

Plenty of ups and downs in the Prince George Firebirds seasons, going to the 2nd round of the playoffs, to losing Chris R and being released from the team. But at the end of the day, the Firebirds made their fans proud.
