I ran a team naming competition in the community and the top choice was the Wood Buffalo Bears (we would have went with the second top choice, but that was the Wood Buffalo McWoodBuffaloFace, Wood Buffalo resident’s aren’t exactly creative). The Bears will play out of Fort McMurray’s Casman Center, and the mascot will be a grizzly named Bruno. He will be instructed to copy the antics of Benny the Bull from the Chicago Bulls as most Wood Buffalo natives do not use the internet so will not have heard of him before.
