"You know what I said at the draft? I said I'd grind the other teams into dust, I'd wear them down, I'd demolish them. You think that was just an empty promise? You think I was kidding? No way, I meant every single word of it. My goal when I hit the ice is to make people second guess themselves. Make them think if they can escape me. Make them question if they have enough space to escape a hit. Since the season started, I'd been going at maybe 90 percent. Now I have my feet under me and have a better understanding of the league, I'm going to go full throttle now. Tonight, I showed what I can do at full throttle. One gino, one apple, and four hits. It wasn't all me though, Flinger played a hell of a game in net. As soon as we took the lead, I started to play my game. I went out and started banging. By the end of the night, everyone on Montreal had their head on a swivel." - Sulak O'Hritea after a 4-1 win over the Montreal Militia
Sulak O'Hritea has truly been on a war path ever since he was drafted by Colorado. Already eleven games into the season, the young forward has already scored four goals and assisted on four more. His eight total points has him tied for second in scoring on Colorado, and third overall for rookie scoring. So far he's spend nineteen minutes in the box, with five of those nineteen minutes due to a fight. Sulak has also amassed 25 hits during that time, which places him second on Colorado for hits, and fourth overall in the league. Interestingly, O'Hritea is one of the few Colorado players with a positive plus/minus at the time of writing.
O'Hritea was drafted 61st overall in the SMJHL draft this season, which left a sour taste in his mouth. He would go on to make a bold statement about the upcoming season, stating that he would make other teams a "shell of what they are," in reference to his physical play style. He also made made claims that he would grind down the star players of other teams, and also make the GMs regret passing him up. Based on his play so far, Sulak has so far kept backed up his statements. Out of all the rookies, O'Hritea has by far been the most physical player, as his 25 hits leads all rookies in the hit department. If he can keep his pace up, he could easily put up close to 100 hits this season.
When asked about Colorado's recent play, O'Hritea said, "[the] teams really been firing lately and I think the coach is finely starting to figure out where the chemistry for the lines are. So far, I think the line of Kazlauskas, Forsberg, and myself, which we like to refer to ourselves as the FOHK line, are the only forward line that has any chemistry. Sometimes it's just the way things work out, hopefully the rest of the team can start getting good chemistry going." Chemistry indeed seems to be a problem area for Colorado, as only five players have a positive plus/minus. The FOHK line take up the first three spots, with the other two players with a positive plus/minus being the defensive pairing of Jake Reid and Maui. However, it isn't all bad for Colorado, as they were able to get their first consecutive wins this last week. "It's good. If we can start stringing together wins, we can really get some momentum going and put ourselves in a good position for when it comes time to think about playoffs. Obviously the whole season is about making playoffs, but you can't think that far out. You need to focus on the next few games. Prepare yourself for you current opponents, not your future opponents," responded O'Hritea after being asked about Colorado winning back to back games.
