Looking at each WJC team
#1
(This post was last modified: 08-23-2018, 09:31 PM by luke.)

So, first, lets look at the depth charts from every country that submitted their roster. Now I am pulling the rookie tpe and people not reaching their cap, from 8/12, as that is where the last update for the WJC is. Now this could change if the commissioner has the update time more recent, but I will be going with what the official tpe is for right now.

Czechoslovakia

Center:
Grayson St. Raegan  - 350
Soren Kierkegaard - 305
Kristof Kovacs -264
Marc Palicka -263
Pavel Pivonka -240

The Czechs Center depth looks alright, if it was a SMJHL center depth, it would be pretty good. For the WJC, this looks a lot better than other teams. Having 2 people over 300 tpe in Center, will be a huge help in the first 2 lines as thats where people will be starting more. People like Kovac and Palicka will be great 3rd and 4th center lines, as looking at the other countries bottom 6 tpe, they will do quite well for themselves. This also goes for Pivonka, but we don’t know where he will go yet.

Left Wingers:
Cash Savage - 350
Piotr Czerkawski - 350
David Kastrba -350
Mason Hudson -241

The Czechs has one of the deepest left wingers this WJC, having 3 left wingers, that can easily fill 3 rows with very deep depth. I am sure the whatever they are in the lineup, they will be able to provide with great production. But, dont count out Mason hudson too. Looking at the other potential 4ht line LW’s, mason is one of the best if not the best. Having someone in the WJC of that caliber that could be in the 4th line is very dangerous lineup, if the czechs are looking to roll with that.

Right Wingers:
Matěj Elias - 350
Rádovän Hudec - 350
Oliver Kovacs -268
David Garland - 232

Again, just like the left wingers, the depth with right wingers is no different. Having 2 capped wingers, makes for 2 lines of a very deep lineup. As well as having a rookie like Oliver kovacs also on the wing, makes it a very dangerous team to deal with.

Defensemen
Kevin Maddox - 350
Troy McClure III  - 350
Tokek Takshak - 350
Luke Thomason -275
Alex Winters -250

If you are looking for a weakness against the Czechs, this could be a minor one. Of course, it is great when 3 of your defenseman are capped, but 2 of their defenseman aren’t actually D-men, but left wingers! This puts the czech in a difficult spot, as left wingers arent really suitable for defensive roles.

Goalies:
Petr Vrana - 257

If you are also looking at a weakness Vrana is also a low light for the czechs, as they only have 1 goalie this tourney. Other than that, looking at other goalies, Vrana is the middle of the pack compared to other teams.

Average TPE: 304.8

With the highest average TPE in the tourney, you can see why. With great depth comes a really good tpe standings. It also helps that their recent rookies that have been drafted into the SMJHL, have been killing it this season. As both kovacs were racking up points in Halifax, Vrana, Hudson, and Pivonka leading Montreal to the playoffs, Thomason rounding out the bottom 6 at the Whalers, Palicka doing well in Detroit, and Winters doing well in Colorado. You can’t find a team, other than St. Louis, that doesn’t have a dominant Czech helping them out. With multiple czechs being named Captain or Assistant Captain, the SMJHL has become the czechs hope for the future, as their IIHF teams aren’t doing so hot right now.

TEAM USA

Center
Kevin Kazarian - 255

Not a lot to go on for the centers for team USA. That being said, Kazarian is not a terrible center, he does have enough skill to hold his own in maybe the 2nd or 3rd line, but the US has to find their golden boy to take the 1st C if they want a shot to win.

Left Wingers
Lightning Jones - 350
Muhammad McLovin - 350
Max Mauldin - 262
Nicholas Williams - 259
Nicky Pedersen Jr.  - 254
Bust - 249
Baron O'Beefdip - 247

Looking the left wingers right now, this is depth heaven. 2 players over 350, with many more in the upper 260’s will be making the wingers very valuable to the US. With this many wingers, it is safe to assume that some will become Centers, and with that will come weak faceoffs for a lot. I think it is safe to assume that their FO% will not be the best in the WJC. But none of the matters if the US can put the pucks in net, and looking at this, I am sure that they can.

Right Wingers
James Dekens - 350
Lil' Manius - 268
Adam Taylor - 258
Doug Dimmadome - 249

This is kinda like their left wingers, but a lot less of them. Their 1st line pairing will be capped, but after it will be a struggle against some of the better forward lines to keep up. But overall, against the average the right wingers here should be enough to get multiple points over the WJC.

Defenseman:
Geoff Moore - 350
Daniel Karlsson - 350
Buck Maverick -334
Rowdy Smithers - 278
Craig Finley - 236
Sean Stevenson Jr. - 213

Looking at this  Defensive line, their opponents will have a hard time around them. Boasting 2 capped D-man, and one close to being capped, their first 2 lines will be one of the best around.

Goalie
Geezus Kryyst - 350
Cedric Robinson - 268

These goalies, in my opinion are the 2nd best goalies in the WJC, next to scandinavia. What the US lacks in offensive talent makes up for it in defense and goalies. Having some of the best goalies in the WJC, will let the offensive pressure loosen, as they wont have to retaliate as many goals as czech would.

Average TPE: 286.5

There is a reason why USA is one of the best places for hockey, the only real area of weakness for them would be their center depth, but everything else is covered. They have very good wingers, as well as very good defenseman that will help balance the lack of centers. It is also impressive that the USA has 2 elite goalies in net for them.

CANADA

Centers:
Fenton Uriel -350
Cody Johansen - 293
Mr. Faceoffs - 257
Justin Siddals -234

Canada’s center strength is a lot better than the USA’s and is on par with the Czechs. Looking down the line, you see a very active rookie in Mr. Faceoffs gaining ground, and he should be a good 3rd line center. Other than that, this lineup looks good for Canada.

Left Wing:
Ryan Gardiner - 350
Jeff Brogen -252
Jack Kennedy - 238
Jackson Conklin -227
Jacob Dorito -155

If you can see a weakness in Canda, their left wingers could be it. Of course it is great when they have an elite player like Gardiner, but after that there is a pretty good rookie, and a couple lower tpe left wingers. Now that certainly doesn’t mean that they have bad left wingers, but compare them to other teams, they aren’t the best depth wise.

Right Wing:
Herb Robert -350
Xavier Paquette - 350
DabCity Savage - 285
Tony Snow - 245

The right wingers certainly makes up for the left wingers here. Having 2 capped players will make it easier for Canada to mess with lines.Herb Robert and Xavier Paquette will be major players for Canada, and DabCity and tony snow will be a good bottom 6 for them too. Should be a good setup.

Defense:
Charlie Schieck - 350
Deku Izuku - 307
Pierre Laroche-Durocher - 260
Grease La Roache - 250
Kyle Corbett - 206 tpe

I would say their defense is the middle of the road defense for most WJC teams. They have 1 capped player and multiple people who are at a decent tpe level. Shouldnt be a huge problem, but it may be problem when facing a really good team.

Goalies:
Reece Artois - 212

This goalie is more of a bottom tier goalie for this WJC. If anything is a big worry for Canada this is it.

Average TPE: 274.7

Being the 3rd highest TPE is great for Canada in the tournament. They have great set of lines, but the only thing that Canada lacks is a really good goalie.

TEAM SCANDINAVIA

Center:
Jax Aittokallio - 270
Goku Muerto - 256
Eero Mäkinen - 200
Dank Boija - 192

Looking at their center group, it is a alright group to have for the scandinavians. They have a pretty good 1st center in Jax Aittokallio, and Goku Muerto as 2nd center. Then the 3rd and 4th centers arent that great, and that will be a crutch to them.

Left Wing:
Rafe Ulrich - 350
Gustav Helzberg - 296
Hippo Passmus - 272
Tobias Viklund- 243

Left wingers fare a much better than their centers. They have a great capped player in Ulrich, and they also have pretty good left wingers such as Passmus and Helzberg. They should have a pretty good left wing lines in the WJC.

Right Wing:
Nicholas Falk- 350
Eero Niemi  - 253
Pingy Pingu - 237
Kjetil Veblen-212

Their right wingers are quite similar to their left wingers, but a little weaker. Of course, they have a capped winger in Falk, but they have overall lower tpe right wingers, like Niemi and Pingu, which will make their lines struggle a little bit more.

Defense:
Gilmore Tuttle -341
Jussi Hammanen - 236
Veikka Toivanen - 223
Elias Svensson -220
Rasmus Rasmus - 182
Willie Fisterbottom - 155

Goalie:
Scottey Crawfling - 350
Kata Vilde - 350

They are the best goalie pair hands down. Nothing else to say

Average TPE: 259.4

Even though Scandinavia has a lower tpe than USA, Canada, and Czechs, they might come up on top because of their goalie combination. Even though they don't have the best lines, they will have the best goalies in the WJC.

Latvia:

Centers:
Alex Andani - 338
Benis Smol - 306
Nikolaj Boyle - 228
Gylfi Kristofersson - 160
Gints Krumins - 155

Like most teams, they have an alright center lineup. They have a good 1st center and a 2nd center. Their 3rd and 4th line however dont  have the amount of tpe that is required to be good in the wjc.

Right Wingers:
Kristaps Ball - 350
Ēriks Skalbergs - 350
Edgars Skalde - 214
Marius Danke - 155

Latvia has a pretty good first 2 lines of right wingers, as 2 of them are capped.

Left Wingers:
Ignatius Blunt - 279
Gvidas Kazlauskas - 277
Krists Zommers - 159
6.5/10

Defense:
Jean-Luc Picard - 350
Sachimo Zoidberg Jr. - 350
Maui - 350
Marco Raanteli - 237
Papa Huligans - 240
Helmuts Akmenlauks - 194

One of the best defensive lines in the WJC. 8/10

Goalies:
Brando Sando - 155

Nico Wallner - 223

6/10

Goalies:

Goalies:

Pretty good goalie 6/10

Average TPE: 241.7
If I could predict a dark horse in the medal round, this team would be it

TEAM WORLD

Centers:
Pavel Volkov - 155

0/10. Would not reccomend

Left Wingers:
Jack Daniels - 350
Daniel Daniil - 350
Zakhar Turakov - 206

7/10. Good 350 tpe people on here

Right Wingers:
Rahotep Tutankhamun - 350
Boris Denisovich - 307
Vladimir Vaskov - 304
Crush Cile - 266
Vladislav Konstantin - 236
Konstantin Kostoyevskiy - 231
Nate Forsberg - 203
Mikhail Petrov - 155

Really good right wingers.8/10

Defenseman:
Viktor Kolesnikovs - 298
Badum Tuch - 201
aleksandria aleksandrovia - 189
Tauras Karazija - 170
Katsuo Yamaguchi - 160
Adidon Zuckerberg - 155

The only good defenseman on this team was Kolesnikovs. They will have big struggle in the WJC.

Goalies:
Vasil Cosmescu - 155
Larry Atta - 155

One word: oof

Average TPE: 229.8
Summary: They probably won't go far, or get to the medal round

Sorry I ran out of steam at the end. If I have more time then I will add more stuff. If you really want me to add more for the last 4 teams than yell at me
