Le Montreal Militia Rule - proudly hosted on photobucket
1st overall in the standings after 21 games, tied in points with the Anchorage Armada. Montreal is having a great start to the year but the standings are so very tight and changing daily. With only 2 points separating the  top 4 teams and 3 points between the top 5. Why mention the standings though? They don't really matter anymore. Fun exciting playoff races are gone so we can all get playoff participation ribbons. Even still we would love to win the regular season and are still going to do our best to finish 1st.

But GM @BarnabasCollins and ex-co @Jearim built a great team here and I think we have a real chance at winning it all this year. Thanks to both of you, I don't know anything about GM'ing and both of you have helped open my eyes to that side of things a bit and been patient listening to my dumb ideas.

Let's take a closer look at this team of beautiful winners shall we?

Now let's talk a bit about what makes them so great. Starting with Line 1!

Centering this line we have Keegan Angelo picked up in a trade that saw our stud center iceman Derek Bohne sent to Anaheim after he demanded out. It was a tough loss for us but getting Angello back has been a really great pickup for us. He is a maxed out pass play maker with a great overall game. Since joining us he has 9 points and is +9 in 14 games. Next up is winger Mason Hudson who is a capped stud from S43 that has always been great for us and he is a Sniper who is great at offense. Hudson has 14 points in 21 games this year and is +8 with 58 total shots on goal already. Finally we have Griffith Cadwalader who is a playmaker who is great on defense as well. He skates really well and it will be interesting to see how his build finishes up as he caps it out this season! This line does great against top competition wearing them down for other lines.

Line 2:

This is the line I play on and it has a new look this season with center Pavel Pivonka. Last year he was on the 3rd line for most of the year. He is a great defense heavy play maker. He can skate really well and is second on our team in hits made. He is also 2nd overall in points with 18 in 21 games and +13. He has 1 fight as well and plays over 19 minutes a game. Next up is myself Willy Mack. I am capped in TPE and currently 1st in goals and points with 11 goals and 20 points. +11 and 58 shots on goal. Averaging 16.68 a game. Next up is a legend on the site that I am very happy to play wing with in Adreas Kvalheim. He is now 350 capped and he is a high scoring and high checking type player with strong defense. He leads our team with almost 2 hits a game sitting at 40 hits so far and only 8 PIMS so he is smart out there. He is +10 and has 14 points good for 4th on the team and 3rd among forwards.

Line 3:

Line 3 is our all rookie line and it's really working they are progressing really nicely for us and have come up with some big goals. They have had a few tough nights as rookies always do but they are all growing nicely and we know they are going to be dominating in no time. Center Kristoffer Svensson has come up with 5 goals already and those are really hard to come by as a rookie in this league. Hans Zucker and Commander Shepard both can skate well and have only taken 2 minors each which is great because sometimes rookies can really hurt you if they are taking tons of penalties. This line will be great to check back in on at the end of the year and see how it has progressed.

Line 4:

Line 4 is centered by an inactive Ryan Peters who has done a solid job so far with his 9 mins a game. Siobhan Ryleigh has been roughly the same and has slowed down training so hopefully they get back to it soon and they can really flourish soon. Rookie newcomer from the draft James Truong is doing amazing and working really hard to move up the depth chart. He has 3 goals and 5 points so far. Doing a lot with little ice time and he is always hitting the gym so his TPE will just keep going up. Love to see that and we need as deep of a lineup as we can to win this Four Star Cup!

Defense Line 1:

The best pairing in the league we have Willie Fisterbottom and Chuck Crutchfield. These two do it all back there and our team is really thriving because of them. Fisterbottom has been an offensive weapon this year with 17 points already and lead the team for a long time. He is +14 and has 29 hits and 1 fight. He is also by far leads the team in PIMs with 41 total. Crutchfield is a player we traded to bring in from Detroit and he really could be the piece that helps us get that cup this season. He is currently on a 4 game point streak and has 11 points and +12 this year with 5 goals. His 5 goals are the most out of all our defensemen and he is already at 24 shots blocked. He plays over 19 mins a night and in all situations.

Defense Line 2:

Rookie first overall star in the making Nikolai Evans and capped out old timer Marco Raanteli make up this line. Raanteli has 10 points and is a -3 but he also has 26 hits and is doing well with the rookie as Evans trains his ass off to get up to the 350 cap. Evans has 3 goals already and 7 points. he leads the team with 29 shots blocked and has been great in his zone. Evans is playing in all situations and already over 19 mins a game so the coaching staff are putting a lot on his shoulders and he can handle it.

Defense Line 3:

Rookie Olin O'Dowd and new signing and just newly created Oliver Klozoff. Klozoff literally just joined the league (from a great long time recreate) so they have no stats to talk about yet. They are a two-way defenseman out of russia that is pass first and defense heavy. Olin O'Dowd was a great pickup in the draft for Montreal and he has 5 points with 2 goals so far. He is playing over 14 minutes and there is so many capped players in this league so of course some nights he will be in tough on the 3rd pair but we know he can handle it. He is training a lot and I know by next year he will be one of the top defenseman in the league.

Goalies:

So Vrana went up for the first 6 games of the season and we played our new rookie backup Aleksi O'Koivu-Volkova. Both goalies have been really solid for us so far. Vrana has a Save Percentage of .890 and GAA of 2.44 while the rookie has a percentage of .906 and GAA of 2.33. We have played pretty bad infront of Vrana a few times and he got pulled but he has saved out butt many times and has already been 1st star of the game 3 times in his 15 games played. Dude can steal us wins and that's huge for us going into the playoffs. With how our rookie O'Koivu-Volkova has played we feel great that they can come in on a tough night if needed. Montreal is doing great this year for goaltending.

There is a chance this will be my last year in juniors (until I recreate right?) and I really want to win it all with this team. This should be a very interesting  season with all teams making the playoffs for the first time ever anyways. We will see what happens but I love these guys and want to see lots of them in the SHL one day. Updates are also about to happen this weekend so for some of these people the numbers will be going up! The standings look like they will fluctuate a bunch this year with so many close teams so it will be fun to watch. Go Montreal!

Looks like that trade really worked for both sides. Bohne is scoring goals, Angello is leading a team!
