Ah, the Halifax raiders. A roster so young it’s probably not allowed to drink in other countries than USA. And that means it’s a ripe opportunity for a plenty of SHL teams to grab some great, some good and some not so good prospects. So, I welcome you to „Predicting the unpredictable“ with your host, Citizen of Adraa!

But, to be more serious, Halifax is a team with plenty of rookies that are really active, consistently update, like to talk and right now there are 3 WJC GMs, a co-GM of Halifax itself, and other people actively looking to participate in the jobs that the SHL offers. It will be interesting to see where all of us go, and this article will try to predict that. Maybe not exactly their position and team, but let’s look at the whereabouts we could see them dissapear of the draft table. These picks are also going to be ranked, so there is going to be a 1st OA of Halifax Raiders, just because I can.

PS: this is only ranking active players in the roster, as in those who write into the LR, I see them everyday, and I know they will be a good pick. Unfortunately, there are some inactives, but predicting their position, I could as well just go and try to look for mines with a hammer and be more likely to keep my limbs than to hit their position in draft.

#1 @"Flareon4043" – Perry Morgan, D
In my opinion, the first Raider to enter the big boy’s league is going to be Morgan. Rumours have it that a lot of teams are looking for defenseman, and Morgan is one of the top blue line prospects coming out of the entire draft, already playing first pairing in Halifax, althought that doesn’t mean much with basically just rookies in the roster, it’s still an indicator of him being the best of the bunch.

Prediction – 1st half of 1st round

#2 @slothfacekilla – Jimmy Slothface, F
Oh Jimmy. If not for the rumours, you would almost surely go as the first Raider. Already a co-GM, showing incredible involment, a unexpected maturity and a bit more expected activity, with a great player to boast aswell and with no unexpected issues, Slothface will be fiercely fighting for that #1 spot, but as I see it, Morgan is just simply playing the more sought after role at the moment. It’s just that Jimmy’s qualities are so massive, that you probably don’t want to leave him up for too long, or someone snatches him.

Prediction – around the half of the 1st round

#3 @Kalakar – Matt Kholin, F
I do believe that as sharp as the fight for the #1 is, there might be a nice fight for the #3. Or maybe I am completely biased. Nevermind, Matt is a rookie scoring leader of S45 while on the Halifax Raiders, one of the worst offensive teams in the SMJHL. That’s a remarkable achievment, although Matt will probably drop as he doesn’t stand out as sharply as Morgan or Slothface do, but if his form keeps continuing as it did start, even in his fairly early draft position he just might be a straight up steal.

Prediction – lateish 1st round

#4 @Citizen of Adraa – Andrej Doskočil, D
Yes, that’s me. Don’t expect me to be completely unbiased, althought as I know myself, I am probably a bit too critical rather than to be overrate myself. But really, I think that as the blue line in the draft is absurdly stacked, while it might be a bit of a surprise, Andrej is probably destined to not make it into the first round at all. Maybe, just maybe, is this article going to give me the last bit of a bonus point to push me into the first round, but more likely than not, people will have different plans in mind for their early picks, and then realize that I exist. Which is completely fair, as the draft we are seeing is just simply incredible.

Prediction – early 2nd round, possibly first if someone gets their pick stolen

#5 @sharksisback – Troy Reynolds, F
Well, if it isn’t our resident alcoholic, the one and only, Troy Reynolds. Troy has shown himself plenty alongside the league with some incredible articles, and around Halifax with some crazy parties. One thing or another, putting him this low is for me, a bit of a safe net. Troy is a bit unpredictable, as his activity is a bit polarizing, it might be a big success with some teams, and hurt his chances with some others. He is the last Raider to be active from the very beggining outside of our fellow german goalie, but I don’t think that Troy being #5 is set in stone and we might just see a massive jump up in case someone enjoys some of that trash talk.

Prediction – early-ish second round, maybe more towards picks 20-24

#6 @JR95 – Ethan Ross
The first recreate of the list, JR is a known fellow, and acted as the J’s simmer this season. However, why I put him so low is really the fact that his player is a bit behind the rest on TPE, and I really don’t know any better to be fair. When it comes to recreates, a lot is tied to how GMs of SHL teams see the investment of someone who they know can bring them a good player, against a chance of getting a fantastic one in the hands of a rookie. Not saying JR can’t get his player to be fantastic, he is still a bit later created then the rest of the class, and with the same activity will simply be a bit worse than others.

Prediction – 2nd round

#7 @Flames1848 – Mike McKorsy, G
This is getting really blurry to be honest. Mike doesn’t necessarily deserve to be this low, but as a goalie, we tend to see them float lower than the same calibre skater would. And let me tell you, McKorsy is the A tier of a goalie prospect right here, a tier that isn’t the broadest, and very likely once someone from those guys gets drafted, everyone else follows. That’s where it’s really hard to properly put a finger on when does that happen, but the safe bet is the one I went with.

Prediction – 3rd round, but really can go anywhere

#8 @Im_A_Boonana – Gaspard Boone, F
Last, but not least, here comes a late recruit in Boonana. As she lags behind the rest of the early created players, while not having JR’s option of being a proven manager, Boonana has a bit of a drop ahead of her. Still, I believe that she is going to be a interesting prospect for some in later rounds, as everything, from activity to even some artistic talent is here in a very decent package. However, with so many players that are simply more interesting than her, she might not get her time in the spotlight and will have to prove herself in later seasons, and make the team that drafts her proud of their abilities to find such a steal.

Prediction – 3th – 4th round

So, the exhausting picture is out. These 8 players are actually all mostly active daily, which is really a incredible thing and has to be a great outlook for the team they are on right now. But, for any SHL teams, I think they are going to be a wonderful addition. This article, however, is aimed more at people that haven’t had to do scouting, rather than being an actual scouting report, as it definitely isn’t in depth at all and more or less just quickly summarizes the respective players. How did you guys get such a stacked draft class btw? Did some guys come as a bonus of the expansion draft? Like we have just me, Arg, a couple others as our main rookies yet you somehow got the most active people in the whole class on one team

Halifax LR is pretty fucking lit tbh

Actually I'd predict JR being the first to go. With GMs being auto drafted to their team. He's a good pick for WKP with the 0th overall pick
