How to read the charts: pretty easy, Y is corsi, X is games played. The chart shows how team's corsi changed after each game.
Northwest Division 1. Edmonton Blizzard (67 points) Record: 33-16-1 Corsi: 49.56 (league rank - 10th) PDO: 1027 (1st) Blizzard got off to a scorching hot start but was it a fluke? Possibly... Their corsi stayed negative all season and if you look at PDO, which is calculated as 5v5sh% + 5v5sv%, they were the luckiest team in the regular season. However, they were great on PP (25.64%, 1st) and PK (82.12%, 4th). 2. Calgary Dragons (62 points) Record: 28-16-6 Corsi: 50.34 (6th) PDO: 1018 (4th) Not really sure what to say. Not bad, not great. 3. Winnipeg Jets (47 points) Record: 22-25-3 Corsi: 45.16 (15th) PDO: 1020 (3rd) This is a team that is clearly in a rebuild mode. Jets kind of overperformed, and still finished with only 47 points 4. Minnesota Chiefs (44 points) Record: 19-25-6 Corsi: 50.00 (9th) PDO: 973 (16) Kind of the opposite of Blizzard. Minnesota was over 50% corsi for most of the season, and finished at exactly 50% but they must've angered simon t. Southwest Division 1. New Orleans Specters (69 points) Record: 33 - 14 - 3 Corsi: 58.27 (1st) PDO: 991 (12th) Holy crap. This is like an MLB player batting over .400 all season. Absolutely incredible. So this is a team that absolutely steamrolled everyone all year possession-wise, received below average goaltending and was pretty unlucky at 5v5, and they still finished with 69 points (nice!). I feel like goaltending is pretty random in STHS, and if Specters' PDO regresses positively, look out. Definitely one of the favorites to win the Challenge Cup. 2. Texas Renegades (53 points) Record: 26 - 23 - 1 Corsi: 51.24 (5th) PDO: 1002 (8th) With a little more luck they would've gotten closer to 60 points 3. San Francisco Pride (52 points) Record: 24 - 22 - 4 Corsi: 50.19 (7th) PDO: 995 (9th) Seems like they improved in the 2nd half 4. Los Angeles Panthers (45 points) Record: 20 - 25 - 5 Corsi: 46.58 (14th) PDO: 994 (11th) I guess game 28 is when they started trading their players Great Lakes Division 1. Buffalo Stampede (59 points) Record: 29 - 20 - 1 Corsi: 54.82 (2nd) PDO: 995 (10th) The reigning champs are still a force to be reckoned with. Got off to a slow start in the win column but it was only a matter of time before they would turn it around, their underlying numbers were great all season. 2. Toronto North Stars (58 points) Record: 28 - 20 - 2 Corsi: 51.45 (4th) PDO: 990 (13th) This division doesn't have a 60 point team but both Stars and Stampede were close, despite some bad puck luck. 3. Chicago Syndicate (51 points) Record: 24 - 23 - 3 Corsi: 46.83 (13th) PDO: 1006 (5th) Syndicate made the playoffs but probably shouldn't have 4. Hamilton Steelhawks (43 points) Record: 18 - 25 - 7 Corsi: 50.17 (8th) PDO: 1005 (6th) Steelhawks slumped hard midseason, made a late push after acquiring some players but that wasn't enough. At 5v5 this team was almost exactly average, and their PDO is neither very high or low. Special teams sank Hamilton as they finished with a 2nd worst PP + PK. :( Atlantic Division 1. West Kendall Platoon (74 points) Record: 36 - 12 - 2 Corsi: 53.94 (3rd) PDO: 1026 (2nd) Trade deadline acquisitions clearly helped but WKP was pretty good before that. In this case, PDO is the difference between 74 points (lucky) / 68 points (expected) / 60 points (unlucky). 2. Manhattan Rage (52 points) Record: 25 - 23 - 2 Corsi: 47.77 (12th) PDO: 983 (14th) I'm surprised Rage made the playoffs but when even-strength numbers don't make sense, look at the special teams. Indeed, Rage ranked 2nd in PP + PK. 3. New England Wolfpack (49 points) Record: 19 - 20 - 11 Corsi: 48.02 (11th) PDO: 1003 (7th) 49 points is pretty much what I would expect with these numbers 4. Tampa Bay Barracuda (37 points) Record: 16 - 29 - 5 Corsi: 44.85 (16th) PDO: 977 (15th) Oof. Last season TB was carried to the playoffs by Benjamin Blue but it was probably unreasonable to expect that to happen again. _________________________________________ Advanced stats rankings: Quote:Corsi for % Quote:5v5sh% Quote:5v5sv% Quote:PDO
