I watched the SMJHL Draft on Youtube while road tripping through Oregon, sure my data bill is uber high for the month, but the joy of having my team call my name on draft night was special. I appreciate the hard work from the hosts. Not to toss any more shade than I already did with the SHL draft, the SMJHL hosts took time to know the players, find out interesting facts about them, they took time to speak about their experiences with the user even if they were a week old on the site. It was a really well done draft in my opinion.
The SHL draft was a bit more chaotic and unprepared. They mentioned on occasion not knowing who the player was and did not make an attempt to speak to the draft pick. There were some players "salty" about their draft moment disregarded so poorly. I hope they take a note from the SMJHL and put in the work before hand to ensure they know EACH and EVERY player available, even if it is something small like a fun fact. /rant

Here we go, first game is STL vs KEL. The sim engine is horrible, but it doesn't matter because STL Scores in the first 5 minutes. Kelowna's rink is boring. 2nd period, and KEL scores! Tied 1-1. STL up by 1 going into the 3rd, they score another 2 times and win 4-1. 2nd game up is NFL and COL. Here's a better rink this time around. COL on the PP early, can't get it done. 0-0 after the first. COL takes the lead 2-1 after 2. NLB ties it and then scores the go ahead goal! 3rd game up is the match up between DET and ANC. :Gnomedab: Det comes out strong and scores in the first two minutes. ANC responds and it's tied, and then they score twice in the last 3 minutes of the 1st and it's 3-1. 2nd period is popping, it's 4-2 after 2. Can ANC hang on to the lead? They build on it! 5-2 ANC wins. GFG vs MET. MET takes the early lead, GFG is struggling to keep up in the 1st. I looked away for a second and it's 5-1 at the end of 2. What is happening to GFG? Too many kodiak cakes and taco bell. Gonna need some more charmin to help wipe their butts after they got kicked.  (220 words)

I watched the SMJHL Day 15 stream on 8/21/23. It kicked off with my team, the Carolina Kraken, facing off against the league leading Maine Timber. The game did not start well for us falling behind 1-3, but we roared back to tie it and then fell behind again. By the end of regulation, the game was tied at 7 heading to overtime. Unfortunately, we were felled by the Timber with an OT winner by league scoring leader William Tree.

The next game was another high scoring affair between Colorado and Anchorage with the game finishing 8-5 in favor of the underdog Raptors.

The last fully streamed game had Quebec City grabbing a thrilling 6-5 win with the winning goal scored with 29 seconds left.

I was a little annoyed with the streamer not showing which players had scored immediately following goals, but the overall experience was pretty good.

The rest of the stream was simmed with my squad losing 3-6 to Quebec City, but then coming up with a big win over the Regina Elk to salvage a 1-1-1 evening.

7) Stream Recap
August 22nd SMJHL Stream. A lot of games were simmed, so I'm going to focus my energy on Seppanen's career game so far - Yukon Malamutes vs. Newfoundland Berserkers.
Final Score: YUM 5 - NL 7
Newfoundland starts the game off strong, potting an early goal by Roman Roy. However, the Malamutes wait only 32 seconds to retaliate, typing it up - and Seppanen getting his first assist of the night. Just under 3 minutes later, Seppanen tallies another assist on a Doumakis goal to have the Malamutes take the lead. The team fends off a penalty kill, and coasts the rest of the period, leading 2-1 headed into the first intermission. However, the team is soon to realize that lead is unsafe - as the Berserkers take 2 minutes and 37 seconds to score, turning the momentum of the game. Less than a minute and a half later, the Berserkers tally another one, taking a 3-2 lead early in the 2nd. However, the Berserkers don't stop there, and Roman Roy pots his second of the night to take a 2 goal lead, and to sweeten the deal, the Berserkers get DJ Khaled on the PA system to announce "another one" as Chris Walsh scores the 4th and last goal of the period, taking the Berserkers into the 2nd intermission with a 5-2 lead. However, thanks to a great speech from the team captain, the Malamutes start the 3rd period with life. Seppanen assists on the Malamutes' 3rd goal of the night, giving Seppanen a total of 3 points (a career high), and bringing the Malamutes within 2. Doumakis pots a second to bring the Malamutes within 1, however Roman Roy deflates the remaining Malamute energy as he basks in the glory of his 3rd goal of the night, taking his time to celebrate the hat trick. The Berserkers pot another to put the game out of reach at 7-4, and although Tanner adds one for the Malamutes, it is too little, too late for the Malamutes, and the game ends 7-5. Despite Seppanen's 3 points, he ends the game as a -1, with a horrific 38 defensive game rating. However, Seppanen finishes with a career high in a second category - shots blocked; as Seppanen laid his body on the line for the team, blocking 8 shots. Seppanen has a rare feat, leading the team in points on the night. Roman Roy gets a well-deserved 1st star with 3 goals and 1 assist, Shevchenko receives second star for YUM with 2 assists, and Sanchez receives 3rd star for NL with 1 goal and two assists with an elite 90 game rating and 100 offensive game rating! Seppanen, although he did not receive a star, receives an honourable mention for his 3 points and game leading 8 blocked shots.

Carolina Kraken vs Anchorage Armada
Period One
The Krakens have control of the game. With two goals with a minute of each other by Alexandros Morgraine and Jason Bolden. That doesn’t stop the Armada because they even out the game with two goals by Kazuchika Okada and Barg Hazbite.
But by the end of the first period, Carolina’s Benji Hunter helps the Krakens take the lead
Carolina ends the first period with 3 penalties: Benji Hunter with 2 and Jason Bolden with 1
Period Two
The second period was fairly quiet. With no penalties and a single goal by the Krakens Curious Betsy. This goal helps push the Krakens further in the lead
Period Three
The Carolina Kraken come in hot for the final period. They end the third period with 3 goals by Chris Robertson and Alexandros Morgraine. But the Armada do not lose their confidence and get one final goal in by Ubba Lodbrok.
A  solid win for Carolina Krakens to end off regular season strong with a W 6-3.
