(GRADED)Deep Dive #1 - S68 Grizzlies Stat Leaders
#1
(This post was last modified: 10-07-2022, 05:56 PM by CptSquall. Edited 1 time in total.)

Points
Loosh O'Sullivan, Taschen Messer & Manny Calavera - 23 (TIE)
A three way tie for total points on the team, with rookie Hai Nam Hoang close behind with 22 and sophomore Bobby McGinnis with 21 shows the parity on the current team.

Goals
Bobby McGinnis - 11
This is a tight category, with a single goal separating Bobby from the next best (including 2 way ties for 2nd, 3rd and 4th). It should come as no surprise that McGinnis, a former runner-up for rookie of the year, would be driving results in goals scored.

Even Strength Goals
Bobby McGinnis - 10
The majority of Bobby's 11 goals have come without the man advantage, which shows the success from his rookie year was no mistake and that he's come into this season with a score to settle.

Power Play Goals
Joshua Weber - 3
A bit of a surprising statistic, rookie Joshua Weber is leading the way in converting with the man advantage, with 3 power play goals. His role on the top power play line factors heavily in to that, but he's still the one firing one-timers past the other teams goalie.

Assists
Loosh O'Sullivan & Taschen Messer - 15 (TIE)
An SMJHL veteran and a rookie are tied for this stat amongst the other Grizzlies, with Manny Calavera close behind with 14.

PIM
John Manganelli - 27
With the team lead in Penalty Minutes, it should come as no surprise that bruiser John Manganelli is also the Grizzlies leader in fights won, having won the only scrap he's been a part of.

Shots
Manny Calavera - 96
With a COMMANDING lead over the next best on the team (Bobby McGinnis - 71 shots), Manny is taking every opportunity to get pucks on net.

Shooting %
John Manganelli - 23.7%
Whether or not Manganelli can sustain getting almost a quarter of his shots past the other teams netminder is a question that only time will tell. For now, he has a solid lead over his next closest teammate by almost a full 3 percentage points (Terry Leviathan - 20.8%).

TOI and ATIO
Joshua Weber - 740 / 22:26
With a full 17 minute lead over his next closest teammate (Chris Valentine - 723 / 21:55), it's hard to imagine Weber losing the lead in this statistic as the season goes on with his heavy presence on the Power Play.

PPTOI
Benjamin Devito - 3:22
With only 8 games played this season, Devito's lead in this stat could be a bit misleading. The next best is Joshua Weber with 2:50, but that's with 33 games played. Time will tell if Devito is able to add this stat to his resume for next season.

SHTOI
Chris Valentine - 1:48
Rookie Chris Valentine has gotten top minutes on the penalty kill and will likely maintain the lead in this stat as the season progresses.

Takeaways
Kalevi Pukkala - 28
With 28, Kaveli only leads 2nd place by 1 (Joshua Weber) and 3rd place by 2 (Chris Valentine). That said, the top 4 on the Grizzlies roster in takeaways are all Defensemen, which shows the commitment to defensive play on their blue line.

Faceoff % (min. 20 faceoffs)
Loosh O'Sullivan - 59.6%
With a 59.6% win percentage (267 W vs. 181 L), Loosh is just 0.2% ahead of Awcrap Ihavethepuck  (59.4%). Can they keep up that level of success throughout the season?

Blocks
Chris Valentine - 59
With his heavy presence on the top PK unit, Valentine has been willingly sacrificing his body to keep the heat off of his goalie.

Hits
Manny Calavera - 88
Speaking of sacrificing the body, Manny seems ready and willing to sacrifice his opponents body into the boards.

Will all of the current stat leaders retain their places by the end of the season? We'll check back in with our next deep dive!
