If the Leafs struggle early Babcock will definitely be the escape goat. It's a doggie dog world, can't take anything for granite.

If any retarded fans complain about Babcock not making the leafs get to the olayoffs in year 1, 2 and 3... Than LOL. It's a fuckjng rebuild. Hopefully these dumbass fans don't ruin a good thing.

The only people who are going to be retarded are the Toronto media and Leafs fans if they expect a cup in the first three years.

I can only imagine the headlines in year one if they suck again.

"Leafs remain mediocre: Babcock too harsh?"
"Babcock ruining the team? Find out on page 5!"

If I was a Detroit fan I'd actually be extremely excited. They are probably going to promote Blashill now and he looks like a stud in Grand Rapids

Didn't Dallas Eakins looking like a stud for the mini leafs?

Detroit needed a change and this was a time for change. Listened to Aaron Ward on Leafs Lunch and he said he did a a radio show in Detroit and the mood around there was it was time for change as Babs was getting hard on the veterans.

Toronto is getting interesting once again. Time to see what they'll do next as this changes who can become GM. What is Babs role in the Leafs? Will the Leafs finally get to attract FAs now that they have landed a coach that many players seem to respect? So many questions that only time will tell. The Leafs have been the butt of many jokes over the course of the league and besides getting essentially the "best coach on the market" they got to give a big FUCK YOU to the NHL by being able to throw their money around because they know small market teams can't necessarily throw this kind of coin at a coach.

Blashill's track record developing talent >>>> Eakins

In Eakins first two seasons in Toronto he actually missed the playoffs. He didn't really develop many players in his system other than Bozak, Kadri, and Stalberg, who were only all in there for half an AHL season. Holzer was really the only player he had a lot of time with. He made the playoffs those two years off the backs of some good veterans. He was a good coach at the AHL level, but was made a bigger deal than he was

There has been a reason so many teams have tried talking to Blashill and the Red Wings would not let them. They rejected so many attempts, because Blashill has an excellent track record. He won his first championship in his first season by relying heavily on developing Nyquist, Tatar, and Ferraro. He molded Jurco from a mediocre player in his first season, to a star in his next. He built his winning teams mostly by figuring out the strengths of his young guys and teaching them how to capitalize on those skills and earn more playing time. Riley Sheahan went from playing 4th line minutes, to being a key player in the playoffs for Grand Rapids because of how he was taught to earn his spot, and now he is a near 40 point player in the NHL. Maybe Blashill has been given a little more due to Detroit's ability to draft, but there is no doubting that he has done a great job teaching these prospects.

Now there is just the curious case of Anthony Mantha...

Apparently Buffalos offer was similar to Toronto. I wonder why Babcock picked the Leafs as we are about 2 years behind Buffalo in rebuilding

Yeah, it was kind of a shocker when you consider that, but he is Canadian and word is he has more front office control than he would get here.
