Thoughts on the entire Texas situation through the offseason and what they need to do in your mind to diminish that image?

As a SHL GM, how do you view the IIHF? Do you consider it an asset that builds value to the site or something that could be lost with no repercussions?

I don't think you've GMed a SMJHL team, but weigh in on what the differences are. If you had to choose a long-term job, would it be SHL or SMJHL and why?

You've had some of the best players the site has ever known on your team. How do we get their payer pages back? How do we get their update threads back?

Why do we start @ 155 TPE? To combat TPE inflation/soft regression, do you see the league changing this?

I think the IIHF is an asset to the league. It adds another dimension that members can look forward too. The one issue it seems to have is people don't really know when its happening or the schedule it uses. It needs to be laid out and made clear when qualifications are happening, when it's the round robin, and so on.

I haven't GMed in the SMJHL. If I had to pick one, it's the SHL of course. There is quite a bit of difference. In the SMJHL you have to prioritize draft picks more and also rely on send downs. It's not easy to run a Junior team I would think. You don't get the privilege of watching the draftees for a season to see who's active, you have to do a lot of due diligence to find the right members so early in their careers. If you happen to draw the short end of the stick send down wise, your behind the eight ball to teams who got 2 lines of send downs. You're also the first line of communication for the new members. The Junior GMs need to make things as easy for them as possible so that they stay. It's a tough gig.

We start at 155 TPE because we're not a point task driven league and we wanted to give the members a starting off point to build a player the way they wanted them to play in the sim. You could start at 0 and there will still be members who work super hard to grab TPE at every turn. You can keep changing the system and those people will still exist.

Interview If Pivonka hadn't retired, would he be entering the Hall of Fame this season?

Acquiring McDavid, Vilmenietis, and signing Ravchitikov. In the whole league, Chiefs grabbing Byrde and Salmon, Rage signing Stinson, and us grabbing McDavid.

I was doing my predictions and looking at the rosters and here are my thoughts.

The East is all Chiefs and Rage. While the other 4 could be good eventually, they shouldn't be able to compete with those two teams right now.

The West is the complete opposite. I was trying to make my predictions and every team in the West could conceivably win. It's going to be a complete crapshoot this season trying to decide the West standings.

Because of this, my top 3 Challenge Cup contenders are Minnesota, Manhattan, and the West.

I kind of just ignored whatever happened with Texas in the off-season so no thoughts. If that's how you guys want to act in the public forum so be it. You just have to deal with whatever backlash that comes with. Whether that be in the form of players not wanting to play there or members making fun of the team in general.

Interview As you well know, this website takes time to build and manage, and the great people here to make it happen spend countless hours making it what it is on a daily basis, and speaking for somebody who couldn't handle the amount of time that I needed to contribute, how much time, in hours, do you typically spend doing regular duties as an SHL general manager a week?

Thanks for doing this! Cheers

The off-season is the busiest time for a GM. There's always something to do that takes up your time, but once the season starts it calms down. Your focus becomes line management and discussions with other GMs. I log in every day and stay on for a good amount of hours, but during the season it's more going around the league to see what's up, checking on stats, or reading the index.

Interview You mention line combinations. How much do you juggle your line ups? Do you find a winning setup and stick with it, or are you a guy who likes to switch it up on a daily basis to keep people guessing?

Interview As you also stated, you spend countless hours in the off-season along with the regular season keeping up on everything SHL, what exactly is your co-GM's duties? Somebody to bounce ideas off of or do they take a bigger role in the organization?

I very rarely juggle my lines. If I had to guess, I probably make 1 or 2 changes a season to my lines. There are some GMs who make changes after every sim, I'm not like that.

I do not have a co-GM. My players do help with scouting when the time comes though.
