The Wings won 3 in 6 in the late 90's/early 2000's

then throw them in there as well. What I say is still valid. The Hawks are THE cap era dynasty.

no doubt…but Kins did make a good point.

IF the Kings win next year, that will be 3 in 5.
can you really have 2 simultaneous dynasties?
kind of contradicts the meaning of the word

I mean, why not? If team A wins 5 cups in a row in a decade and team B wins 5 cups in a row in the 2nd half of a decade are you not going to allow them to be called a dynasty?

I see no problem with two dynasties. There virtually no way for more than 2 at a time and physically no way for 3 or more at a time.

I think you can. I mean if two teams combine for 6 cups in 11 years then I feel like they can both be constituted as dynasties.

I mean the Wings and Habs of the 50s were both considered dynasties and they traded off cups for a while there.

fair enough…I'm not necessarily saying you can't.
it's worth a discussion tho

well the actual term for dynasty is if you have won a cup in a row for decades... that's impossible in the modern era and thus why it's subjective because the objective definition of it wouldn't match in anything in the modern era.

I always felt that 3 cups in short succession (in a row, averaged of every other year etc.) was definitely worthy of a dynasty. That blackhawks have done that. Then obvs if its 4, 5, or 6 in a row/quick succession its a dynasty.

People call the Raiders a Dynasty for championships 76, 80, and 83 which coincided with the Steelers in 74, 75, 78, and 79. Now people can argue which is a better dynasty but I think they can both be called a dynasty.

Plus we're hinging this discussion on whether or not to call the Hawks a dynasty on a hypothetical of IF the Kings win next season. Lets not hinder the Hawks for something the Kings may or may not do Smile). As of now the Hawks have earned their place as a "Dynasty" the Kings have not.
