... I don't like his play style, reminds me of Komisarek ALOT

Schenn moves the puck much better. He's also smarter and better offensively and defensively. Just better at everything. He just needs to slim down and work on his skating with that new skating coach of ours.

You would think its fair being an oiler fan.

Grigorenko/Galchenyuk + Gardiner >>>>>>> Yakupov

Gardiner is coming off a 30 point rookie season. He was the best rookie D this seasons and made the all rookie team. He sometimes would play 28 minutes a night. After the all star break where his offense started to get rolling he was producing at a 45 point rate. In the last 3 games he was as dangerous as Kessel offensively (ask any leaf fan or anyone who watched our last 3 games which he had 2 goals and 1 assist in that time).

His tools can make him an elite defenseman. Skating (best skater out of the 08 draft), hockey IQ, vision, and poise.

Why would Toronto even listen to an offer on Gardiner from the oilers? I wouldn't trade him for Eberle ffs.

Um lol..

Gilbert in his first year put up 33 points...The next year he put up 45...Then he fell off the face of the earth...

List of first overall picks from the last ten years...
There is one player I would not do that deal from a Leafs perspective and thats Johnson...The rest their is no doubt I would (except maybe Nash)

2002 Columbus Blue Jackets Rick Nash Canada Forward London Knights OHL
2003 Pittsburgh Penguins Marc-Andre Fleury Canada Goaltender Cape Breton Screaming Eagles QMJHL
2004 Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin ^ Russia Forward Dynamo Moscow Russia
2005 Pittsburgh Penguins Sidney Crosby Canada Forward Rimouski Océanic QMJHL
2006 St. Louis Blues Erik Johnson USA Defenceman United States NTDP NAHL
2007 Chicago Blackhawks Patrick Kane ^ USA Forward London Knights OHL
2008 Tampa Bay Lightning Steven Stamkos Canada Forward Sarnia Sting OHL
2009 New York Islanders John Tavares Canada Forward London Knights OHL
2010 Edmonton Oilers Taylor Hall Canada Forward Windsor Spitfires OHL
2011 Edmonton Oilers Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Canada Forward Red Deer Rebels WHL

Gardiner is grossly overrated like plenty of leafs over the years...I read a post on Hf "Gardiner was easily the best NHL defensemen all year long"....Hes good but not the best as you guys say he is.

I actually saw that guys post and he is a known troll and trolls all the other teams about anything leafs related and you believe it... Lol.

Gardiner isn't Gilbert lol.... Stupid to even compare other than points

How is Gardiner overrated?

And I wouldn't trade Gardiner for Eberle. I'd rather have a franchise #1 D and top 10-15 D in the league that plays 26 minutes a night over Eberle.

You haven't seen Gardiner skate. It's like an art form. I've seen Karlsson a lot and doughty a lot especially in the playoffs. It doesn't take a genius to know Gardiner is the better skater. His skating can literally dominate the opponents.

I think you are definately overrating Gardiner...

I have a GIANT man crush on Gardiner, and wouldn't really want to trade him, but if I could get NAIL YAKUPOV for him and our 5th, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Players like Yakupov do not come along everyday, you have to be lucky to get him. He is worth a ton. I don't even think Gardiner, and a 5th would be enough.

I would trade him for Eberle, but nothing more. Just Eberle straight up, they have the same potential imo

Gardiner isn't Gilbert lol.... Stupid to even compare other than points (Gilbert was a great skater his first few years than he completely changed)

How is Gardiner overrated? (the thread comparing him to Bobby Orr)

And I wouldn't trade Gardiner for Eberle. I'd rather have a franchise #1 D and top 10-15 D in the league that plays 26 minutes a night over Eberle . Um no. Id rather have a number one winger who is capable of scoring 40+ goals a season..A explosive player who can rip apart other teams defense.

I respect that. I just don't think the gap is big enough from 1-5 to justify trading a potential franchise player of Gardiner's calibre to move up.

I have seen Gardiner skate, he is damn good, but he is not better than Doughty or Karlsson lol, Gardiner is going to be good, but he isnt a better skater than either of those guys.

And yes, you did say that Gardiner is a top 10-15 franchise dman
