SHL Get Rich or Die Tryin'

I believe similar ideas have been done before so I wanted to throw my hat into the ring with a true classic album. 50 Cent “Get Rich or Die Trying” when this album dropped I ditched Spanish class to go get it with some friends. Instead of just straight out ditching I told the substitute teacher I had to make up a test or some bullshit. Long story short he called my bluff, and the next day a teacher told me “If you do that again I’ll kick your ass” I saw him again years later at a sports bar and brought up the story. Enough about that lets get into who each song reminds me of in the SHL.
I’m going to skip the skits, interludes, and a few wack songs cause I’m not a fan of that shit. “What Up Gangsta” This fucking song was dope when it came out, I remember slapping this in my 2001 Corolla that I had to upgrade from a tape deck to a cd player. I smoked a many blunts to this, it even inspired one of my AIM screen names back in the day. SHL Equivalent: 701 – Not because I think he’s gangsta but I could just picture us burnin a blunt to this one as we mob around. Not to mention I could see him saying the phrase “what up gangsta” on a daily basis. Song Rating: 7.5/10 “Patiently Waiting” All I can say is bars, bars, and bars this song was more crack right off the bat, a lot of times artists will break up their heat, not 50. Em blessed this one and I’m glad he did it was the perfect beat, and if this was the only em feature on the album it would be enough for me. SHL Equivalent: NJBadApple – He had talent no one knew about he just sat back, and let people go at it. Until he had the right moment he struck and ended Zachary’s rap career. The type of timing and delivery he showed could only be considered “Patiently Waiting”. Hats off to you homie you went in. Song Rating: 8.5/10 "Many Men" - 50’s whole gimmick was he got shot 9 times and he’s still breathing which is a remarkable feat I could imagine. This song couples his street shit with a more mainstream melodic hook. This was definitely my original favorite cut off the album, and I still get hype when I hear it today. SHL Equivalent: Shevy Shev – Alex has been hit a few times by the DC, and he’s still here breathing. My guess is he’ll get ignant again in the near future, but it’s because he doesn’t fuckin care. That’s what 50 says to in this song Many Men hate me, want me gone but I’m still standing tall. This one was a hard one for me to choose, but I had to go with someone I’d seen get hit and pop right back up. Song Rating: 9/10 “In Da Club” I’m pretty sure this was his first single and he’s got some straight heat in it. It’s a top 40 style song where the others on this list have been more street. I would probably hold this song with higher regard if it wasn’t completely played out. 50 Cent was straight G in this one busting out of his wife beater, doing more pull ups than one can humanly imagine. SHL Equivalent: Deener – I can’t see most of you nerds up in da club, but I can see my boy Deener all up in that shit. “I'm into having sex, I ain't into making love So come give me a hug if you into to getting rubbed” This line especially reminded me of the Deener with the bluntness he has shown to being all about the nookie (sorry). I could see him sliding up in da club lookin lit as fuck with some alligator wingtips. Song Rating: 7/10 (only because mainstream) “High All The Time” I’m high all the time I smoke that good shit, when I hear that lighter spark in the opening seconds of this song a feeling happiness comes over me. This is one of those songs I liked when I was slumpin it at 17, but I absolutely love at 29. You think you understand what they’re saying in these songs but you truly don’t understand the slang until you’ve gotten a little older and wiser. SHL Equivalent: Wasty – This was the hardest one for me to dish out because I have so many stoneyhomies on here. I feel like people on here smoke a lot, but I feel like Wasty is truly high all the time. He’s been on my top 5 SHL dead or alive to smoke with for some time. After the podcast with Deener where he is burning the entire time he confirmed my beliefs. Song Rating : 9/10 “Heat” Going off the track list this song was a complete sleeper, I had to google the fuckin lyrics but this is the 50 Cent street shit that I loved from this album. The hook lacks a little bit the songs message is in the name. SHL Equivalent: Ragnar – This gun totting SHL favorite isn’t someone you would want to fuck with. He stands his ground on the SHL, and in the mean streets of San Antonio (dunno if they that mean doe.) Song Rating: 7.5/10 “If I can’t” Homie it can’t be done, I don’t know if this is like a hood motivational song. I know it was made to play towards the mainstream it was a successful joint. It shows the type of arrogance you have to have to succeed at a high level. SHL Equivalent: Ballerstorm – going from UDFA to SHL ROTY, gaining all the fucking TPE. That’s the type of arrogance you need to raise to the top, and the way he swags around the site shows this. He’s not the only one with this mentality so I’ll give some honorable mentions on this one; Bojo, ArGar. These fuckers are out here doing the most. Song Rating: 7/10 “Blood Hound” Gangsta rap is what Trap Music is now, people glorifying shit that doesn’t really bring glory. This track is just more 50 letting the trigger talk chalk full of pistol play, while the song isn’t one of my favorites I don’t change it when it’s on. SHL Equivalent: Allen – He is the only one who loves his two glocks the way 50 does. He’s very modest about them, and advocate for gun safety. I believe we give him a couple chops, and some booze we can see Gngsta Aln come through. Song Rating: 6.5/10 “Back Down” this is a 100% slapper I think I blew a few speakers to the one back in the day. If 50 Cent were to be on SHL hardness scale we would all be negatives, or mostly all of us. There are a few people who don’t back down. SHL Equivalent: Kez Kincaid- Kez doesn’t fuck around from Hamilton to Texas he’s held his mack down. He stepped up into the SMJHL Commish role and kept the same firey, no backing down attitude. Kez strikes fear into these nubs who try to cross him, so back down. Song Rating: 9/10 “P.I.M.P” This song is about the chick providing for her rather than the dude coming out of pocket all the time. While it really isn’t a message I promote the songs catchy. That’s what it’s made to be, made to sell records, and made to come on in the club to get everyone lit. SHL Equivalent: Easymoneysniper – Little homie be sending me way too many kicks of the day snaps, he probably had some chick buy all his gear. I think he’s about 17 ½ but homie is dressing like he’s working for goldman sachs – aka dressing straight pimp. He ain’t on that pinky from Friday pimp hype, he’s on that new age dabber pimp shit. Song Rating: 6.5/10 “Like My Style” while this song gets skipped 99% of the time, I feel some people probably get down with it. He really swerved out of his lane on this track – he needs to get his ass back in it. SHL Equivalent: D_Moushey – I like your style – straight up class act of a dude. The shit you did for wiki hit me right in my feelers, and I believe you would do it for any member of the community. I like that shit bro – I’ve never really spoke with you but you’re good people in my book this site needs more people like you Song Rating: 4/10 “Poor Little Rich” This song is 50 straight boastin how he came up from nothing, I’m not really a fan of these style tracks. While it is pretty catchy and well done I’m still not a fan of material things talking for him. SHL Equivalent: Rezik – This abrasive little cunt likes to brag about his great life so much that he’s got more neg rep than fuck all. While I do have some respect for his sports knowledge, I ain’t fucking with some silver spoon kid who boasts n brags. Plus he lives in Cleveland Area so he’s got make himself feel better by bragging. Song Rating: 5.7/10 “21 Questions” More mainstream semi fire from 50, I was never really into this song but RIP the homie Nate Dogg (Best gangster singer ever.) This is just another boasting song by 50 because everything is about him/us. SHL Equivalent: JuniperPegasus – JP is a snooty little fucker who makes everything about himself. It is probably just his coping mechanism but I feel like you could get through 1 or 2 questions without him making it about himself. Song Rating: 7/10 “Don’t Push Me” While I think this song should have been titled “Live Wire” because he’s already talkin like he’s been pushed, not really warning you not to push him. While I do not agree with this song title the song has some serious heat, and the message still gets across. SHL Equivalent: Lil – I know you’re thinking how the fuck does Lil land here, well I’ve seen what happens when you push her, and I will not be doing that. Honorable Mention to Enigmatic she’s got some straight fire if you look for it also. Song Rating: 7.5/10 “Gotta Make It To Heaven” This song is one I relate more closely too as I got older, you realize the shit you go through brings you to a better place. While my childhood was subdivisions, and suburbs not streets like 50 Cent it shows people from all walks of life go through shit. SHL Equivalent: Merica – I’m pretty sure he is active or ex military so he’s been through some shit (Thank you for your service, and all SHL’ers who served/serving Hoov I see you.) He is very set in his ways, that seem like traditional values of a god fearing man. Merica does shit his own way so you gotta have respect for that. Song Rating: 8/10 “Wanksta” This was 50’s breakthrough song for me and a bonus on this album. SHL Equivalent: Zachary – This one is self explanatory. Song Rating: 8.5/10 “U Not Like Me” This was another hidden song and an absolute monster of a track. While it isn’t a life style I lead I could make this song easily about my life. As I was writing this I went through each song to read the lyrics as soon as I read them I wanted to hear this song. 50 Cent came 100% correct on this joint 99% of the world isn’t like him. SHL Equivalent: Nereus – Cool Hand Luke is one of the hottest rookies in the SHL, and one of the most chill dudes on the site. Anyone who talks to the dude absolutely loves him, his personality is lights out. While he isn’t gangster I could see him getting down. “U Not Like Luke” Song Rating: 8.5/10
