Team Germany Sing Songer Code: 777 Words Now that we've fully broken down the entirety of the S28 SHL Entry Draft, we can look at who exactly the Top 5 prospects are in our minds. There are some hard choices on this list, but it's going to be an exciting adventure through the first round! On we go! <div align="center">1st - Jackson Cartier - Defenseman S27 Stats: 50 GP, 5-24-29, 12 Hits, 49 SB TPE: 265 Summary: Cartier is no doubt one of the strongest prospects in the draft, but its his history that sets him a part from the rest of the pack. He isn't the strongest as far as TPE goes, but his activity in the league keeps him as a top contender in that respect. He is a safer option than players such as Quinn Stevenson (re-create) and Bennett Jones (first-gen) and has been able to put up good numbers before. The fact that he also has over $100 million in bank roll shows GM's he's hard working as well, and will help his players down the road as he progresses into an SHL Star. As well, he has expressed his opinion about draft rankings and the word is that he would like to go the Wolfpack. No surprise if we see his name called first on draft day. 2nd - Gunnar Rask - Centerman S27 Stats: 50 GP, 9-21-30, 51 Hits, 3 GW TPE: 307 Summary: Rask currently has the total TPE lead, with over 300. He has narrowly wrestled Stevenson for it all season long, but has finally broken away with a one point lead. With a solid bank account of over ten million dollars, Rask doesn't look to disappoint as an active member of the community and is the second re-create on this list. Not only is he a re-create, his last player saw a high TPE count and was a strong player for the Chiefs over his time with multiple 30 point seasons. It's very likely the Rage take a strong liking to him and he goes second overall in the S28 Entry Draft. 3rd - Michael McFadden - Goaltender S27 Stats: 39 GP, 8-22-2, .860, 3.70 GAA, 0 SO TPE: 283 Summary: The biggest reason for McFadden being such a top rated prospect in this draft is the fact that the Riot hold a top pick, and their immediate need is a goaltender for the future. He isn't currently the highest TPE, but sits at 5th, which is still fairly good for a top pick. He is another player who is a re-create and has seen success before so should repeat at this. As well, his bank account has over $50 million which shows his activity is high. All of these and more are the signs of a great player and it would appear he will be the deadlock to go third overall to the Riot. 4th - Bennett Jones - Right Wing S27 Stats: 50 GP, 15-19-34, 33 Hits, 2 GW TPE: 282 Summary: Jones sees the upside of being a strong winger who had a great season in the sim with his draft rankings. Currently sitting at over 280 TPE, but one behind McFadden for 5th place, Jones is a strong player who could progress to great places in the SHL. The likelihood that he goes higher than 4th is low though, and the main reason for his ranking over Stevenson is the fact that the Wolfpack already have a strong young defender from this draft class in Jackson Cartier. It's very likely the Wolfpack go with the option in Jones in this draft. 5th - Quinn Stevenson - Defenseman S27 Stats: 50 GP, 11-25-36, 57 Hits, 61 SB TPE: 306 Summary: Currently sitting at the second highest TPE of any player in the draft class, Stevenson is a seemingly incredible prospect from an outside look. He has the activity, skill, and great points to put up big numbers in the SHL, and from how much time he puts into his articles we can see that the effort is there. The big question is how he falls to fifth, and the answer is unfortunate draft rankings. With Seattle plagued by the lack of a future goaltender, and the Rage an ideal location for Rask, there's no place in the top four for Stevenson. But there is an upside to the misfortune that beseeches Stevenson in that he ranked the Panthers at the top of his draft rankings. And of course the Panthers will be more than happy to open their doors to Stevenson come draft day.</div> |
