Yeah, Militia is a fucking horrible name, but if you use another name that works then it works! I don't think history or precedent for other sports teams should really play into it.

Dragons Logo is a Rename
Halifax is a recolor of a concept logo

theres only 2 or 3 logos on the site that are original.

I never said I liked it. I do however think it's improvement over a soccer team.

That said, "militia" isn't strictly an American thing, yes obviously you would immediately think of America because we made it famous through the revolutionary war, but as they noted in their OP, it is named after the Militia formed in Montreal. SO I do think it's an appropriate and fitting name for their heritage.

But you are correct, it's a very murrican thing to do, and despite the fact that there is history behind the name, it's hard to get past the American aspect.
