Does the amount of time I spend in the SMJHL affect when I'll be hitting regression?

It happens based on your SMJHL Entry Draft Season #. So, short answer, no.

As an S29 designated player, your regression will start in S38 (i.e. in the 10th season from the time of your draft year) - 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38 = 10 seasons

In a way I guess you could look at it like that but you'll also be called up already with a lot of TPE
