<a href='index.php?showuser=2143' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-17'>akamai</a>, that's a beautiful head shot to choose lol. But small roster? How can Colorado still have a small roster with the infinity number of players they signed as UDFAs? It all good, great PGS

Oh, whoops, I meant to say returning roster. Sometimes I forget words..... Smile)

And thanks. I stole your format. I figured that was the safest way to go. Wink

But yeah, I like looking at that history, especially since I left for a while. Kind of fun to see the silver medalists for West and East duke it out early in the season lol.

<center>Colorado Mammoths Mammoths vs Knights Kelowna Knights
Game 61

It was too little, too late for the Kelowna Knights as Mikael Talo scored their only goal in the third frame,
allowing the Colorado Mammoths to best them by a score of 3-1.

Scoring Breakdown</center>
It certainly didn’t help the Knights to have back-up goalie Max Smith-Frey in the net tonight, but the break down of their offense against goaltender Jacob Andrews, as well as a couple ill-placed penalties and a penalty kill that was falling apart put the nails in the coffin for them. Let’s take a look at just how each of the goals tonight was scored.

Though the Knights outshot the Mammoths 12-6 in the first, neither team found the back of the net until 3:22 in the second. After a line change, Mia Landvik attempted to make a pass across the neutral zone to Dieter Dominique. Unfortunately, her pass was intercepted by Sludge and moved back the other way. Though the Knights made their way back into their own zone, some clever cycling of the puck by the Mammoths resulted in a pass from Sludge to William Goddard to Antoine Vietto, who shot the puck just past the glove of Smith-Frey for his first goal of the season.

Sludge and Goddard were back on the ice for the power play after Dominique took a minor for tripping at 6:14. The Knights’ penalty kill unit looked good initially, clearing the puck after a lost face-off, but the Mammoths took possession and dumped it into the Knights’ zone. Janis Mazmiesis got a stick on the puck in the corner, but Joey DeNino came up with a big hit, allowing for the puck to be retrieved by Goddard and passed to Sludge for the shot. Rookie Ty Justice blocked the shot, but Goddard and Sludge passed back and forth looking for a path past the Knights defence, with Sludge finally taking the shot and finding the back of the net.

The second period ended with a score of 2-0 Mammoths, and it remained that way until 12:36 in the third, when the Knights came blazing up the ice into the offensive zone. Mikael Talo sent the puck to Mikko Linna at the top of the circle, who passed it cross-ice to Anatoly Yanovich and was able to open himself up for the return pass and send it straight to Talo’s stick on the doorstep for the one-timer. The goal brought the game within one, giving the few Knights fans in the building hope for the comeback.

Alas, Landvik took a penalty for interference at 13:38, opening the door for the Mammoths power play to once again go to work. After a successful first half of the penalty kill, the Knights were unable to move the puck out of their zone, and the Mammoths battered Smith-Frey with shots on net until eventually a shot by Dave Mang was deflected into the net by DeNino.

<center>MVP</center>
While Mammoths defenceman Sludge was rightfully awarded first star of the night due to his goal, assist, and six total hits, the true MVP of the game was goalie Jacob Andrews. He held strong through the first period, stopping all 12 of the shots he saw and thus delivering a crushing blow to the Knights’ confidence in the beginning of the game. He went on to stop 25 of the Knights’ 26 shots on goal, good enough for a 0.962 save percentage. His record gained a much needed improvement to 3-7-3, and he was awarded second star of the game.

<center>Post-Game Interview with Mikael Talo</center>
Interview Where do you feel it all started to go wrong tonight?

I don't think there was one particular moment. We could've made a recovery at any point. But we did take a lot of penalties early, and obviously when you do that you're not setting yourself up for a good game.

Interview What were you thinking when you scored that third period goal?

"Get the puck to the back of the net." You always have a game clock ticking in your head, but you try to put it aside and just score. Trust your team, trust your training.

Interview Do you think discipline is a problem for the Knights?

Not all the time, I don't think so. I would say that generally we're actually pretty clean. But you come in with some young guys, you know, tempers get high. Things happen. I think in this case what we didn't do is that we didn't really shake off the frustration of the first period before coming into the second, and compounded that when we didn't make the adjustments to our game plan that we needed to. So I think in general the discipline is okay, but growing the ability to quickly turn around a game that isn't going our way is something all of us need to develop.

<center>Montreal Militia Militia vs Knights Kelowna Knights
Game 65

What looked to be an evenly-matched game between the Montreal Militia and Kelowna Knights ended in slaughter as the Militia scored three goals in the first five minutes of the third period to win the game by a score of 6-3.

Turning Point of the Game</center>
A mere 47 seconds into the third period, the game tied 3-3, Montreal’s Johnny Watson scored his fifth of the season with assists from Richard Douglas and Viatcheslav Orlov. Less than a minute later, Juan Carlos Kinkaid combined with Feta Fingers and Ilmari Maatta to put Montreal up by two.

The Knights then chose to replace starting goaltender Mikke Laukkanen with backup Max Smith-Frey--a choice that was proven to be a bad one when Kristians Rozentals scored at 4:22. Though that shot was the first of only two shots Max Smith-Frey would face thanks to the offensive push the Knights made throughout the rest of the game, it was enough to seal the fate of the Knights.

<center>Post-Game Interview with GM lil</center>
Interview What’s up with those lines?

We're trying to cut down on penalties while maintaining our top notch play in other areas… sometimes it works better than others.

Interview How are you feeling about Landvik’s play lately?

Well, she has been struggling a bit as of late, there's no denying it--but she is a cornerstone of this franchise, and in this game she showed a return to her usual form. Proud as ever to have her in the green and gold.

Interview Do you think discipline is a problem for the Knights?

It certainly seems to be this season, doesn't it? We're working on it--adjusting lines the way you might separate troublemakers in school, and also hiring sports therapists.

Welcome back to Sports Net live, where we have just watched an entertaining contest and our final regular season match-up, the 74th game of the SMJHL season, between the St. Louis Scarecrows and the Halifax Raiders, where the Raiders took advantage of St. Louis rookie goalie Kasper Haapanen, and handily beat the SMJHL Leading St. Louis Scarecrows, 4-0.

For those that are just tuning in now, lets give you some highlights…

Synopsis/Highlights

The St. Louis Scarecrows have had struggles containing the Halifax Raiders this season and rookie goalie Kasper Haapanen who started out brilliantly with a 43 save performance against the Montreal Militia, just a few days ago, has struggled as of late in his mandatory 6 games, in relief of starter Casey Holmes.

Could this potentially be a SMJHL Eastern Division playoff match-up? Only time will tell, but if it is, the St. Louis Scarecrows might want to start watching some film, otherwise this could be an upset in the making.

Let’s get to the action…

1st Period:

St. Louis comes out strong and Halifax is on their heels with a strong offensive push by the Scarecrows. However, it’s not the Scarecrows top line doing the damage, it is the second and third lines getting through. We taking you back to later in the firs period with the Scarecrows on a rush:

“Erichsen to Diablo as he streaks down the left side into the Raiders zone. Erichsen passes it to Charlyb'y who just gets lit up by Gorlab! Gorlab has been throwing the body around tonight, that’s his second hit of the game and a massive one! Porter (MVP) picks up the loose puck and Felix Herztog, the LA Panther prospect, over to Leif De Bruin another Panthers prospect, as they head into the Scarecrows zone. De Bruin pauses waiting for a streaking Rosston to come into the play, the pass, it goes off Haapanen, the rebound to Rosston…. the shot! Goal GOAL Goal !! On only their 4th shot of the period, the Halifax Raiders have jumped out to the 1-0 lead!”

<div align="center">[Image: bruinsgoal2.gif]</div>

What a terrible rebound on what looked like an easy shot to handle by Kaapanen. You see the Scarecrows coaches talking on the bench, we’ll see if this has any impact later in the game, as the Scarecrows should be up, outshooting the Raiders 9-4 in the period.

2nd Period:

The Falcons come out with a little more life in the second period and match the Scarecrows effort, as the period has a lot of back and forth action. The issue for the Scarecrows is by mid-way through the 2nd period Halifax had added 2 more goals on 4 shots in the period, and lead by a 3-0 score. Let’s go back to the play with just over half the period over:

“Feist with another face-off win over to Strange, but Herzog is all over him, Strange, the Captain of the Scarecrows pushes Herzog and the two exchange some words in the corner, as De Bruin comes in and gives Strange a jab. Emotions are definitely running high, as Feist and Hans now join in the scrum…. nothing comes of it, as cooler heads prevail. The third line for the Scarecrows comes on. Reflieux gets kicked out of the circle to the right of Kaapanen, Aumeisters wins the draw back to Porter…the shot! Goal GOAL Goal !!! 3 goals on 5 shots in the period, 4 goals on 9 shots for the Raiders! They now lead 4-0.”

<div align="center">[Image: 831433045.gif?w=640&h=360]</div>

That’s the end of Haapanen’s night, as he gets pulled and doesn’t look to happy about it, but you honestly can’t blame the coaches, as it was a terrible night for the Scarecrows netminder. Casey Holmes the veteran comes in.

<div align="center">[Image: 1Ukv8.gif]</div>

3rd Period:

Halifax smells blood in the water and comes out strong and it would definitely be more then 4-0 if Casey Holmes was not putting in a strong performance in the period and in fact has faces more shots then starting netminder Kaapanen, so far in the game. However, lets take you to one of the few scoring opportunities the Scarecrows had in the period.

“Charlyb'y wins the faceoff in the Raiders end and gets it back to Landry, to Rivet, back to Landry. Landry straddles the blue line and then passes it to Diablo, over to Erichsen, back to Diablo streaking to the net, he shoots!! OH WHAT A SAVE BY Richard C. Hocolate, he simply robbed him! Lets look at that again. Diablo had the wide open net and somehow the Raiders netminder was able to get the paddle down and make an incredible save….Simply amazing save, highlight of the night material right there!”

<div align="center">[Image: 852681561.gif?w=550&h=310]</div>

With Richard C. Hocolate stopping everything that came his way and the damage already been done with Haapanen in net, the Halifax Raiders cruised to what looked like a relatively lopsided 4-0 victory.

Individual Player Stat Breakdown

Once again the Scarecrows were outshot, but this time they did not get good goaltending, or any offensive production, which normally they get at least one of these two. Let’s break down the goaltenders to show the comparision:

Scarecrows:

Kasper Haapanen - 5 saves from 9 shots - (0.556 Sv %)
Casey Homes – 12 saves from 13 shots – (1.00 Sv%)

Raiders:

Richard C. Hocolate - 21 saves from 21 shots – (1.00 Sv %)

It is clear by looking at the numbers that Halifax, who outshot the Scarecrows 22-21, were lucky enough to catch Haapanen on an off night, but the Scarecrows were unlucky and caught Richard C. Hocolate on one of his better nights this season.

To me this is the key to the game.

Most Valuable Player

The Star of the game is an easy one, kicking aside all 21 shots and guaranteeing a victory for his team by not allowing a goal, against the highest scoring team in the entire SMJHL, our MVP is …… Richard C. Hocolate!!

Surprisingly enough, Richard C. Hocolate has not had the best season (below .900 Sv%), though he has been able to register a few shutouts and is becoming known as more of a “hot/cold” goalie, which is not something you want when the team in front of you is looking for consistency. Though we know he is working hard with his goalie coaches and this is likely through training and preparation they will try and fix.

However, tonight he was definitely hot and stole the show for the Halifax Raiders!

Tonight we have a Eastern Conference showdown between the Detroit Falcons and the Halifax Raiders. Both teams have split their first two games. The Detroit Falcons are entering this game following an impressive victory over the Montreal Impact. The Falcons shook off the rust it seems, following the teams disappointing loss to the Colorado Mammoths in their opener.
The Halifax Raiders split a home & home series with the St. Louis Scarecrows. The Raiders fought back from a large deficit with a four goal third period, to win their home opener and split the series with the Scarecrows.

The two teams have had some great matchups over the past few seasons and have made a habit of running into each other in the post-season. This season could end up producing another great playoff series between the two teams, with a lot of SMJHL experts predicting they will meet in the conference finals.

It seemed as both teams used the first period as a feeling out process. Neither team was able to find the net but both Dick Chocolate of the Raiders and Sivy McSieve of the Detroit Falcons looked strong. The Raiders controlled the pace of the play, outshooting the Falcons 9-4. Halifax was able to kill off a hooking penalty taken by Sergei Fedorin and the Falcons were able to kill a Clive Stonehands tripping minor. Blake Battle took a penalty with just 13 seconds remaining in the period, after the rookie defenseman smashed Rising Hippo face-first into the boards.

Battle's penalty would end up being a costly one. Alex Berkis scored his first goal of the season just moments after Battle's penalty expired. Berkis took a pass from Maverick Mitchell and fired it over Hocolate's shoulder to score his first goal of the season. The Raiders continued to find themselves in penalty trouble. Halifax managed to kill off an ill-advised elbowing penalty taken by Reinis Aumeisters, but they weren't as fortunate after William Marner took a penalty just 9 seconds later. Halifax native Justin Novastar scored in the waning seconds of the powerplay to put the Falcons up 2-0 near the midway point of the second period. Marner will be skating laps in practice following another stick penalty just 25 seconds later. The Falcons dominated the second period out-shooting the Raiders 17-5.

Alex Berkis fights for a loose puck

The third period was action packed and saw the floodgates open as far as scoring went. Montel Vontavious Porter intercepted a pass just seconds into the final frame and found Leif De Bruin behind the Falcons defense, De Bruin made an excellent move and slid the puck past McSieve to cut the Detroit lead in half. Less then a minute later, Porter intercepted another pass and found Reinis Aumeisters all alone in front of McSieve, Aumeisters made no mistakes and beat the Falcons goaltender to tie the game at 2. Detroit would answer back quickly. Maximus Sarone put the Falcons back on top just 3 minutes later, Sarone would add a second goal just a minute after that and Detroit had taken the air out of the Scotiabank Centre. Hans Moleman assisted on both of Sarone's goals. Prince Daniel James took a penalty and William Marner took advantage on the powerplay to bring the Raiders back within a goal. Alexander Odegaard continued the scoring explosion to once again give the Falcons a two goal lead. Things settled down for a while until Felix Herzog scored his first goal of the season, on the powerplay, with just under 3 minutes to play. Halifax was unable to continue the offensive pressure, partly because of a late penalty taken by forward Mike Ross. The Falcons would hold on to take a 5-4 victory, despite a 4 goal third period from the Raiders.

Game 108 was a brutal 5-1 loss for the Detroit Falcons against the Kelowna Knights. The Knights had an incredible second period, scoring four of their five goals and leaving the Falcons scrambling to prevent a shutout. The lone Falcons goal came on the power play at 6:51 of the third period. Too little, too late.

Read on for a period by period scoring breakdown:

Period 1

Knights Justs Sirmais puts Kelowna on the board 3 minutes and 22 seconds into the first period with clean execution of a set play off of a faceoff win. Sirmais wins the draw, knocks the puck back to Bernard Frederic, waits for Frederic to pass to Aronne Zamloch, and is ready to slap in a one-timer when Zamloch sends it back his way. And just like that, the knights take an early lead, which they hold on to for the remainder of the period.

Period 2

Knights The second period is littered with Knights goals, the first one coming 43 seconds in, when Cara Hohenberg makes quick work of a bad turnover by Tobias Thorvaldsen in the Knights zone. She quickly skates the puck into the neutral zone and passes to second line center Dieter Dominique, who moves it into the Falcons zone and takes a shot that’s tipped in off of the stick of Beau Bent. Knights up by 2.

Knights At 11:10 of the period, Dieter Dominique scores the Knights 3rd goal, his second point of the game, assisted by Nicholas Leier and Mia Landvik. A shot of Leier’s was blocked and Dominique was there to pick it up and go five hole on a frazzled Falcons’ goalie.

Knights Janis Mazmiesis scores the Knights 4th goal of the game at 13:10 and chases Detroit’s goalie Jari Ohvo. He’s replaced by Sivy McSieve.

Knights Five minutes and 46 seconds later, Knights captain Mikko Linna goes top shelf on McSieve to give the Knights a 5 goal lead. Linna’s goal was assisted by Mikiael Talo and Ty Justice, after one of Talo’s shots was blocked and Linna caught the bounce.

Period 3

Falcons At 6:21 into the 3rd period, Dolph Ziggler took a tripping penalty that led to a Falcons’ goal 30 seconds later. Alex Berkis took a shot that hit the post, chased down his own rebound, and then stuffed one in under the right pad of Laukkanen to rob the Knights of a shutout.

Now we’ll take a look at Knights’ second line center Dieter Dominique vs Falcons’ second line center Wiljian Zjang in the player spotlight.

Knights Dominique had two points in the game, one goal and one assist. He took 5 shots on goal in his
21:13 of playing time. He had 6:34 of special teams minutes, had a +2 +/- rating, and won 50% of his faceoffs. He was credited with 2 hits and 1 blocked shot.

Falcons Zjang played 20:46 with 4:10 of special teams time. He won 54% of his faceoffs, but did not record any points, shots, hits, or shots blocked. He had an even 0 +/- rating, and took one penalty, a minor for holding the stick in the second period.

The difference between these two players’ stats accurately represented how unevenly matched this game was. The Falcons were too tired to put up much of a fight, and the Knights, led by 1st Star of the game Dominique, took full advantage.

Following a brutal 5-1 loss in game 108, the Detroit Falcons were out for Knights’ blood in Game 112 of the season. They outscored the Knights 3 goals to 1 in the first two periods, and despite an attempted comeback in the 3rd, the Falcons got exactly what they were looking for. The final score was 6-4 in favor of Detroit.

The story of the game was the first period ejection of Falcons starting goaltender Sivy McSieve, who was handed a game misconduct at 17:57 for unsportsmanlike conduct. After cleanly stopping a shot from Knights’ Anatoly Yanovich, McSieve left his net, put Yanovich in a headlock, and attempted to shove the puck in his mouth. It’s unclear what action from Yanovich may have provoked this attack, but McSieve was heard screaming, “how do you like me now, bitch” while being escorted from the ice. Unsubstantiated claims suggest that Yanovich may have engaged in a sexual relationship with McSieve’s mother. McSieve was replaced by Jari Ohvo, and less than a minute later, Mikko Linna scored the first goal for the Knights.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Neither McSieve, nor Yanovich was made available for questioning after the game. Instead, we sat down with Yanovich’s linemate Mikael Talo to see if he could shed some light on the situation.

Interview You were involved in the play immediately prior to the altercation between Yanovich and McSieve. Were you close enough to hear what was said to incite the incident?

I wasn't, no. But Anny isn't generally a guy who's in the middle of scrums. Landvik...eh. But Anny isn't like that, typically.

Interview Can you confirm that there's any truth to the rumors that this may have been a personal conflict, rather than anything having to do with the game?

I don't know anything about it.

Interview Landvik attempted to join the fray, but you and Justice held her back, while allowing Linna to attempt to break the fight up. Any reason you didn't just let her go for it?

No penalties. We've been over this. We need to keep our game clean, and part of that is by not immediately jumping into things.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Despite the loss, two of the game’s 3 stars were Knights players.

In tonight’s matchup, Colorado takes it on the road to Prince George’s home opener, the second game of the regular for both teams. Mammoths @ Firebirds. After coming off a 4-0 shutout in their home opener, the stage was set for Colorado to get their revenge against their Western conference rivals—but the Prince George Firebirds dug in their skates, ready to defend their position as Western conference champions.

<div align="center"> A LOOK BACK
</div>

Season 27 ended with the Colorado Mammoths as the Four-Star Cup Champions. The Prince George Firebirds were their first round opponent who forced a 7th game, Colorado going on to win the series against Kelowna and the finals against Montreal in only 6 games. Prince George fans surely remember the heartache of getting knocked out first, and Colorado the narrow escape to the Western Conference final.

Season 28 was a chance for the Firebirds to turn the tides. After an ignominious regular season, the Firebirds barely squeaked into the playoffs, Colorado gliding into second just behind the Vancouver Whalers, who had an equal number of wins but also held the tiebreaker. This meant that the two teams would not face each other until the Western Conference final. With Prince George sending top performer Bennett Jones away to the Montreal Militia, the Mammoths weren’t worried—but in a stunning upset, Prince George not only trounced Vancouver in a 5-game series, but pulled out the win over the Mammoths in the mirror image of last year’s series matchup, Prince George taking home the win in game 7 to move onto the Cup Finals.

Unfortunately for the Firebirds, there was no stopping the Militia onslaught, but there’s no doubt that both teams remember the agonizing losses on each side of the two years prior.

However, as we’ll see tonight, Prince George was ready to prove that they simply have the Mammoths’ number…

<div align="center">Highlight Reel</div>

<div align="center">1. Hunky Monkey’s celly after PP goal gets Firebirds on the board

[Image: Jpy61Tu.gif]</div>

Smug he is, and smug he should be. The first goal of the game came on Prince George’s first power play of the first period—within the first five minutes of gameplay, no less. Mammoths Maverick O’Dooley drew a hooking penalty, and Hunky Monkey was able to slide a quick wrister in. But the real highlight here is Monkey’s postgame celebration, which went viral on social media within minutes. Stay cool, Monkey. Stay cool.

<div align="center">2. Karl Hertzberg really ‘Hertz’ Jacob Andrews

[Image: Sean-Monahan-goal.gif]</div>

The consistently heads-up play of Karl Hertzberg has been a huge asset over the seasons he’s spent with the Firebirds. After a whopping six penalties that cost them two power play goals, Colorado’s rookie Steven Stamkos Jr. had netted a catch-up goal shortly before the end of the first. Going into the locker room down one must’ve seemed like a very salvageable situation until the Hertzberg goal—stop the penalties, clean up the game, and catch up. But despite Colorado finding their discipline, their players were worn down, resulting in Hertzberg’s beauty of a goal here mid-second period.

<div align="center">3. Casper Jakobssen nets the game-winner

[Image: GrimyNearBarnswallow.gif]</div>

After a battle back and forth, the Mammoths had the Firebirds fans holding their breath with a mid-period goal in the third, bringing the score within one. But sophomore center Casper Jakobssen had some other ideas, and was the one to close the door on the game with a little set-up help from teammates John Beckner and Matjev Oslov.

Now, let’s turn our attention to the rinkside booth for our…

<div align="center">INTERVIEW INSIGHTS
</div>

Tonight we’re down here with Firebirds GM Private Snowball.

Interview What would you say was the key factor in tonight's win?

Perseverance. Resilience. The Mammoths came to play with a fire on all cylinders mentality, to increase the amount of shots the team would take on McFadden, a top prospect starter. Thankfully, our power play was successful on two early penalties and with that, we never looked back, applying the pressure from the first goals of the season for Monkey and Yakimov before adding on a backbreaking 3-1 lead a few minutes into the second when Hertz buried a beautiful lead from Jakobsson, there was some life when DiNino pulled the score within one before a few minutes later Jakobsson buried one himself.

All in all, we had seven Firebirds on the scoresheet. Not only perseverance and resilience but effort too.

Interview What is something you would like to see your team improve upon?

Our shots on goal and keeping leads, several times last season and this season, we were kept to single digit shots per game. That's not acceptable and something needed to be done, so I phoned up T.D Walrus and inquired about a pair of defensemen he had on the block, he was very reasonable and that helped shore up our defense but we still needed some firepower, so I looked into acquiring Aumeisters from Halifax. The last few games have been a great indicator of what this team can do when it has the offensive talent to back up a stellar defensive and goaltending cast.

Interview How do you like the Firebirds' playoff chances this season?

I think we'll make it in. Tongue

Last season, we managed to get past the Whalers and Colorado, this season will be no different however it is more likely we end up facing the Whalers and the Knights, with Colorado having a poorer season than usual. I believe we have a good shot at making the finals, the Finals themselves would likely pit us against Montreal or Halifax, neither preferable match-ups, but no one said winning the Four Star Cup would be easy.

With one last segment before we wrap, we bring you the…

<div align="center">Cascade Scrub of the Game – Maverick O’Dooley, Mammoths</div>

O’No, O’Dooley! The Mammoths forward made it difficult for his team today. His undisciplined hooking penalty in the first period was one of two Mammoths PP goals, and a second hooking penalty later in the same period wore his team’s legs down. While he created some turnovers, his poor passing numbers made him create almost as many, with a whopping 17 of his passes intercepted by Firebirds players.

When combined with his -1 plus/minus, he is the Cascade Scrub of the Game! If O’Dooley wants to clean the slate, he’ll need to work more on his passing instead of his hooking, and use Cascade to get those dishes squeaky clean, every time.

That will do it for tonight! Thanks to all of our viewers for tuning in, and we’ll see you next week!

Game 29 Colorado Mammoths vs Detroit Falcons

Game 29

In the last meeting between these two teams this season. The Mammoths walked away with a 4 to 0 victory over the falcons. Jacob Andrews Made 23 saves for the shutout and Sludge lead the offence with a 3 point game. This is a new game and well the Mammoths have been ice cold heading into this game and are hoping to break the losing streak.

1st Period

2 minutes into the hockey game and well, the Mammoths manage to score on their second shot of the hockey game. Subban finished the play awhile Stamkos Jr. and Richie Pecker Assist on the goal. Looks like a good start for the Mammoths.

Alex Berkis (DET) for Roughing (Minor) at 4:19
Ben Dover (COL) for Hooking (Minor) at 4:19

4 on 4 action for a little bit.

Minor Penalty to Evgeny Yakikov for Hooking.

Falcons get the 1st power-play of the hockey game.

Prince Daniel James skates up the ice, he dumps the puck in, Tobias Thorvaldsen picks it up in the corner, he passes it to Nucky Toohoots and he shoots and he scores!!!!

The game is all tied up at one a piece.

Shots 13-4 Falcons, Score 1-1.

Interview with Ben Dover

Interview So hows the 1st period for ya?

Dover: Alright disappointed in it getting all tied up at the end of the period there we need to wake up and step up our game to beat this team. You can not win hockey games getting outshot like this every period of every game.

Interview What are you going to do to fix this problem?

Dover: Work harder in Practice and play better as a team.

Interview What place do you think this team is going to finish this season?

Dover: I want 1st place but I doubt that happens, I like to win and well we are not winning right now and it sucks.

Second Period

nothing happened in the 2nd period as there was only 7 shots in total for both teams. However The Falcons managed to get the go ahead goal as Nucky Toohoots Dangles thru the Mammoths defence to set-up a beauty of a goal for Kalid Dermot to make it a 2-1 game 4 minutes into the 2nd period.

Third Period

William Pendii (DET) for Slashing (Minor) at 1:44

The Mammoths start the 3rd period with a powerplay. And well they take advantage of it and McGraw scores and ties the game up at 2. Assisted by Sludge and Goddard.

Falcons scores on their 2nd power-play of the period to get the go ahead goal.

5. Detroit Falcons , Hans Moleman 4 (Alex Berkis, Maximus Sarone) at 15:03 (PP)

and they add an empty net Goal

6. Detroit Falcons , Maximus Sarone 6 (Prince Daniel James) at 19:50 (Empty Net)

As they win 4-2 against the Mammoths.

<center>Kelowna Knights Knights vs Militia Montreal Militia
Game 104

The Kelowna Knights were the comeback kids as they overcame a 3-0 deficit in the third period and pulled out a 4-3 win over the Montreal Militia in the shootout.

Unsung Hero</center>
It may have been Kyle LeBlanc who scored the final game-tying goal for the Knights, earning himself the third star of the game and sending the game to overtime and a shootout, and it might have been Mia Landvik who notched a tenacious two assists and displayed cool confidence in the defensive zone, but it was Anatoly Yanovich whose excellent work on the power play got the ball rolling in the third period. After Mikael Talo fired off a shot that went just wide of the net, Yanovich was able to pick up the puck and score on the wraparound. Being in the right place at the right time meant that the Knights got a much-needed boost of confidence that changed the tide of the game.

<center>Story of the Game</center>
The story of the game comes in the form of Montreal Militia rookie Jason Forbrook, who was awarded first star of the game after an outstanding offensive performance. He had a part in two of the Militia’s initial goals, both of which came on the power play in the first period. The first was a goal by Richard Douglas at 4:51 (thanks to a high stick from Sven Bartok), assisted by Forbrook and Ilmari Maatta, and the second was a goal from Forbrook himself at 17:26 (thanks to Dolph Ziggler boarding a Militia smol), once again in combination with Douglas and Maatta.

A natural right winger who shores up the Militia’s second line, Forbrook is often called upon to play the left side on the man advantage. He plays a solid 200-foot game and isn’t afraid to get into the dirty areas, making him the perfect match on a unit that includes the offensive defenseman powerhouses that are Maatta and Douglas.

On a team full of young rookie talent, Forbrook’s performance against the Knights proved that he’s capable of playing with the big boys. If he continues to steadily improve through the rest of the season, there’s no reason this young upstart won’t find himself off the board reasonably early at the S30 SHL draft.

<center>Post-Game Interview with Jason Forbrook</center>
Interview Why do you think your powerplay was so on fire tonight?

Everything was just clicking. We were able to get a handle on their PK early on, passes were connecting, stuff like that. Guys did a good job keeping control of the puck, keeping it in the zone, and we were able to capitalize.

Interview Would you say you and Maatta have a lot of chemistry?

[laughs] Yeah, me and Cap work pretty well together, feed off each other really well. It's a lot of talking on the ice, y’know, having each other’s back and all that. Helps that we get along in the locker room too. [grins] He’s a really good cook, too, so maybe that's part of why I like him so much.

Interview Where would you say things started to go wrong in this game?

After that second penalty in the third, we kinda lost what we'd had going on all game. Defense wasn't as tight, possession wasn't good, and I think we let some of that frustration get the best of us and fell apart in front of Molmsten. It's not something we’re proud of, definitely something we have to work on if we want to keep putting up points. We had a good game overall, but those mistakes in the 3rd cost us.

Game 114

Firebirds 0 VS 1 Knights

The Kelowna Knights managed a 1-0 shootout victory against the Prince George Firebirds in what some are calling The Most Boring Game in SMJHL History. Game 114 saw a combined total of 42 shots and zero points in three periods of regulation plus one period of overtime.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take a look at the highlight reel from the game, sponsored by Red Bull. In fact, if you have any Red Bull on hand, now might be a good time to chug a couple unless you’re ready for a nap.

The Red Bull Moment of the Game happened at 9:14 of the first period, when Knights defenseman Mia Landvik took a hit from Donald Trump, lost the puck, and promptly lost her shit. The scuffle that followed resulted in a fresh blood stain on the jersey for Trump and a double minor for roughing for Landvik.

The only highlight from the second period was...well, this dude having a snooze.

The third period took it a step farther, when one of the officials decided to have a nap in the middle of play. On the ice. No one disturbed him and play continued around him. Sort of.

Overtime was a real doozie. Three whole shots on goal, plus this:

Finally, in the shootout, Dieter Dominique and Cara Hohenberg were able to net two to win the game. Firebirds Casper Jakobsson had the lone shootout goal for Prince George.

To be honest, that wasn’t even very exciting. Have a shot of the firebirds disgruntled faces after the loss. That’s more fun.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the game we interviewed Knights’ captain Mikko Linna. Here’s what he had to say:

Interview Congratulations on the win. What was the mood like on the bench when you realized you were heading into overtime, still scoreless.

Probably about the same as it was in the stands. Frustrated.

Interview I don’t know if “frustrated” is the word we’d use. Is it true that there were players taking naps on the bench?

Ziggs wasn’t napping, his face always looks like that.

Interview Where did Landvik get the sunglasses she wore in the penalty box following her double minor?

Oh, she keeps a pair in there. Along with a bag of skittles, headphones, and an mp3 player with only prison themed songs on it. You know, like I Fought the Law, Folsom Prison Blues, stuff like that.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Red Bull Fan Photo of the Game is this blurry cellphone shot of Landvik in the penalty box.

Lol soooooo many zeros in the stat sheet....

"How well did you play out there today?" "Eh, we just wanted to skate really, just kind of agreed upon beforehand that no one would try to score."
