In which setting, exactly, is it normal to see people armed with weapons today? That argument makes 0 sense to me whatsoever.

You cannot even get into a nightclub with a firearm, and for good measure. I'm willing to bet more deaths would occur than one mass shooting if they were to allow firearms in there "just in case".

You cannot go to an elementary school with a firearm, are you crazy?

So where, exactly, does the opportunity exist for "Americans with guns" to stop mass shootings in these settings?

Wanna add in, even if any of those scenarios presented itself, the person protecting themselves needs to know how to shoot properly, while getting fired at themselves likely and possibly into a crowd. That doesn't seem the best course of action.

And this is without assuming the worst in that the shooter ends up killing the person and now has ANOTHER weapon full of ammo to dispense.

The idea of "arm the teachers" is the worst idea I've ever heard too. You'll find an extreme drop of quality teachers too if a requirement is to be able to shoot a gun and the ability to have to take a life at the drop of a hat. Not to mention where's the gun during the regular day? Locked away from the children that could get into it? So if it's so secure then how fast can you get it in a moment of action? All things I'm sure a KINDERGARTEN teacher really wants to do.

There's goes the education system (like there's a great bit even left of it) if you're in a place like Oklahoma where its already the shittiest you can find.

There was some data collection that showed America isn't the country with the most mass shootings per capita. Which I can definitely believe - we have a lot of people. However, we have more than 1 gun per person in this country, yet despite the fact that people keep saying, "It just takes one hero with a gun." None of these are ever stopped by civilians with guns. Where the fuck are the heroes and their guns?!

In my head I shouldn't even post this because getting into political shits on message boards is almost always a terrible idea. Enjoy my willful mistake.

Virginia Tech: Gun free school zone
San Bernandino: Gun free
Orlando: Gun free club (you cant carry weapons intoxicated or at a bar period unless it specifically states you can, which is very rare.)

Now I am NOT advocating right now that we allow teachers or college, I am simply pointing that the places the most recent mass shootings have occurred are places that concealed gun carriers are NOT ALLOWED to carry. SO FUCKING SHIT THEY DIDNT STOP THEM.

Concealed carry permit holders have stopped numerous shootings and saved numerous lives. However you never hear about it because its kept off the mainstream media, because God FORBID they actually report positive news involving guns.

So long as we keep CHL permits restricted to proficient shooters, I'm happy. Everyone with a gun is stupidest, but no one with a gun is equally stupid because that utopia will not exist. It's also the right of places of business and convening to impose gun restrictions if they feel they don't want them in their place. I'm not going to force someone to accept my choice of carrying, it is the responsibility of the gun owner to be responsible and respectful of places of business and their rules/laws in place.

Concealed carry allowed in that club would have just as easily allowed the shooter to enter with a weapon. Concealed carry works both ways.

BTW, mentioning that the club was gun-free and co ringing the post in favor of CHLs could be seen as advocating for guns in clubs. I agree that the 51% rule is very smart.

So what is your solution exactly? Hope somebody is hopefully walking around the school with a concealed weapon ready to stop the mass shooting?

If it's a security guard, sure. That makes sense. But then they could acquire guns the same way a police offer should. And i'm sure security guards in schools wouldn't be holding AR-15's.
