i mean he wasn't retiring he was already retired. He retired before the offseason post so wsn't even eligible to play S37 and never would have unretired for Toronto
That was my problem with the trade when I first saw it

There's precedent that says it's ok to do this.

Zinaida Titova retires 7/19 at 1:35 PM
Trade to Portland posted 7/20 at 8:30 AM, accepted 8:37 AM (in the GM office, was posted later in the Transactions area)
Titova Unretires 7/20 at 8:39 AM
S36 Offseason Schedule posted 7/30 at 7:46 PM

Up to HO how they want to handle it now.

Yeah there are a few instances of this not happening even when the player doesn't unretire. Need to put it into the real rulebook to be official

I agree with the rule tbh, it makes sense. Otherwise a player could retire to force his teams hand (he hopes) to get like a 2nd back then unretire to be on the team he wants. But it isn't in the rulebook, so...

Well, the way I see it, once upon a time it was in the rulebook and everyone just forgot about it. I feel like it should be enforced, because I don't remember it ever being formally repealed. Just because there's precedent of mistakes, I don't think that gives us an excuse to continue making mistakes.

In my opinion the person who retired to force a GM's hand is a shitty person anyways. Just request a trade next time.

So we should go back and null all trades this rule wasn't enforced for? Or just this one cuz u don't like it?

I'm not saying to erase everything that's happened in instances where this wasn't enforced, because it's way too late for that. This is the first time I've ever noticed this happening, so it's not because I have beef with anyone in this situation, I just recognized this as a violation of a rule I literally read on the forum 3 days ago when I was looking at the retirement rules. I didn't see this all happen and go "Oh fuck the Renegades, I'm gonna go dig up an obscure rule to be an ass," I read this and said "Oh, I don't think you're allowed to do this tbh." Nothing malicious here, just my stance that it's a mistake and as such should be enforced as just that.

Yeah but that doesn't fit my narrative.

Im just wondering if it's not in the rule book is it a rule? If it's a rule it should be in the place we keep the rules. I understand why it was a rule at one point and I don't disagree, but if I check the rules before this trade and everything is kosher it feels as if I or Toronto would be unfairly punished for a 5 year old rule that we didn't know about.
