Weekend Funtime: Memories

I forget everyone from my draft class.
All Gm's are great.

But remember Jack Crasher? That was fucking awesome.

- Let's go back to your SHL draft. In hindsight, do you think you would have/should have been drafted in the position that you were, knowing what you know now? Give yourself a redraft position!

Fuck yes i deserved to be #1. The only other possible pick that would have been better in that spot was Theo Kane. Tommy Creller won 3 cups, put up consistent numbers, and gave teams a reliable 1st/2nd liner for his entire 15 season career. Holding roles of SMJHL coGM/GM and SHL Co-GM with the opportunity to take over head GM, he was a recognizable name in the league and looked up to by many younger players.

That draft was crazy lol. Creller, Garbo, Wong, Kane, Clitsome is an insane top 5, not to mention Leonidas, Ruutu, Knight?! Solid return on investment from S21

- Think back to one draft pick that you regret letting slip through your fingers. Who was it, and what do you think they would have added to your team?

I really was regretting letting Zemgus Nylander slip through my hands. I knew he’d be a great fit with that late pick. He was recently awarded the Rookie of the Year in the SMJHL and would be a great future prospect.

That’s why I traded back for him.

Considering I was the 1st defenseman taken off the board, I don't think much would change, besides maybe the likes of Either of the next 2 d men taken after taking my spot, which I wouldn't have been mad or expected any different in Metzler or Kosonen.

If we were to go BPA? I think I should have snuck into the top 5 personally, but not one needed a D man that bad at the time, so I can't blame the GM's for not picking me at all. Hindsight is always 20/20!

The part that makes me sad overall? Were picks 11,14,16,17 ultimately. RIP HAM and TOR.

I went 13th overall in my class. I'd like to think I could've gone a little higher, but there's not many people above me who I could actually displace. Also, Metzler is fucking awful.

You would have went higher if Hallsy and I had a higher pick my friend.

Uuu the best draft class that I've seen and remember must be the S31 class. Reasons are different but the main three in my opinion are the activity that we saw, the talent that we got and the example they set as the best draft class in a long time. I myself joined by the end of the season and I was added to the S32 draft class but I so wanted to be part of S31 because of all the cool people that were there and everything that they had. They can honestly look back and remember bits and pieces from their draft class. All the conversations they had, all the inside jokes that came out while I for example am not that fortunate and my class was pretty poopy and boring. Besides that we got really good players from that season. One of the greater examples being Eduard Selich aka Tomen. I believe he was and is one of the biggest addition to this league since he joined and I believe he has achieved a lot as well. I honestly might be bit bias about this topic as I think I was like a little fan boy that just wanted to hang out with all the cool kids from the school but it just so happened that they were all in a different year and class and I was younger so I did not get the chance to be part of their group and have all the fun they had chatting and communicating while making their awesome player for the future.

I guess I may has well answer a question eh?

I went 4th overall to Hamilton in S26 and the guy before me, Conall Macleod, ended up being a huge bust. What is ironic about that is that he recruited me from HFBoards to get sweet recruitment TPE. Right after me Eoin Macgregor also turned out to be a bust. I can't say I should go above Wyatt Wølker or Mainio Mäkinen but I should have went 3rd.

The whole S26 draft was pretty underwhelming as a whole with several first round busts. A few gems did come out of it though. Robert Andersson, Mattias Holmberg and Don Pellegrino in the 2nd were steals considering the flops at the top. Rick James in the 3rd was a huge steal for Texas as well.

Both S21 and S30, Seattle took me as a risky rep member with a good player. I remember Gifter of Bikes specifically saying he was amazed both Leonidas and I fell down to 7/8 in the draft S21.

Something similar happened in S30. Came back unexpectedly, Gifter didn’t need to give me another chance but he did, and I don’t think other teams wanted to risk me abruptly retiring.

S21, I think I move up to 6th in LA if we’re re-doing everything. S30, I stay the same-ish.
