-Ah, yes, everyone's favorite debate - whether we should pay GMs or not. Where do you stand on this, and if it's in the affirmative, how should this be carried out?

100% yes the GMs should be paid. It doesn't have to be an exorbitant amount or anything but they should be compensated for their hard work. I think that the HO could come up with a reasonable amount to be perfectly honest. I'm not really sure what the con argument even is.

Slight bias, but yes GMs deserve pay. At every level, Juniors, SHL, and IIHF, GMs sacrifice a lot of time to make the site and teams places to foster activity. I don't think anyone is asking for 10m per season, just a cool 2-4m to mitigate the time consumed. If they fail repeatedly to fulfill their responsibilities, boot them. ez

Quote:-There's been a lot of chatter about IIHF lately, though not entirely for the best reasons. Do you think players should be allowed to bench themselves without having to transfer out? Additionally, do you think the transfer rules are good as they stand? If not, what would you like to see in place of the system currently present?
Why force a player to be involved with a team they have no interest in? IRL players can retire from international play

Quote:-A lot of players have (re)created for this upcoming draft class, and it's slated to be a big one in both size and potential. Are there any players you'll be keeping an eye out for, out of the new crop? Early favorites for first overall? Give them a shoutout!
Obviously shout out to my big board (currently in the process of making it, which I have plenty of time for now that Simon properly crushed my hopes and dreams). Atm Raven would be top of my board ez

Quote:-Playoffs! Obviously, not every matchup has been solidified yet (although they will be before this PT closes). That being said, which (potential) matchup are you most excited about? Who do you think will be the key players on each end, and who do you think can pull out the wins?
Interested to see how the blood bath of the east shakes out. Plus the Jets v Dragons first round match up looks spicy

Personally if you create a player born in Canada, you should not be able to transfer to another team. If you have a player who is Russian/Canadian then you can transfer between those 2 countries. As for players benching themselves....as in real life if you are asked to represent your country and accept.. then the GM can do what he wants with your player.

The fact that this is really the only sim league in which GM’s and HO aren’t paid should say something. Although it proves that those who keep this league running truly do care about it no matter what, they still deserve to be compensated for their efforts.

babysitters get paid, and shl gm's are basically babysitters, so yeah probably.

Yes, pay everyone who contributes to the running of the league. I think that just makes good sense to give them some money. $5,000,000 will cover their training for the season and that seems like a good starting point for me.

It's gotta be Winnipeg and Calgary. Calgary has had success against Winnipeg lately, so much so that the Jets have even added their own drum emoji to try overcome the Dragons skill. This is an underrated rivalry, and I think it's just heating up.

Winnipeg vs Calgary in round 1 will be a great series. There is a serious rivalry brewing there and it will be interesting to see that continue

I'm amazed anyone will put the amount of work required to gm a team without getting paid. Pay those motherfuckers!

Calgary vs Winnipeg has the most on the line.. Winipeg has lost just 9 games all season... and the team thats won 4 of those 9 is the team their playing in round 1... Calgary is the defending champs and they dont want defend there title with a 1st round loss.. this match up is high stakes hockey!

GMs should absolutely be paid! I actually had no idea that was not the case already. It just seems obvious. In any other league I am in, GMs are paid. In the PBE, where I am a GM, GMs are paid 8 million per season. Being a GM is an intense job and a ton of work. It's often a 24/7 type job, at least when you take it seriously and do a good job. Not paying GMs is insane and a joke. Change that!
