S41 PT #3 - Expansion
#91

If i were to create an expansion team, it'd be in Houston. The team would be the Houston Republic. After doing some research I found that the city is named after the first president of the Houston Republic: Sam Houston. Go back with the nostalgia and it has an easy name to pronounce. They would play at the Toyota Center in downtown Houston, Texas. Houston is a very good sports city and there would be plenty of hockey fans. It would create many new fans to hockey and get the sport out to the public. Along with that, it'd create a geographical rivalry immediately with the Texas Renegades. Games between the two would fill even split. There would be fan fights, good fights, intense hockey games, and many memorable moments for the city of Houston. The mascot would be a cooperate yes man in a suit with a golf ball as a head. It'd be great for the hockey world and all involved.

Well this is a pretty easy one for me because I would bring a team to Beaverton, Oregon and name them the Beavers. The Beaverton Beavers would be a fearsome and ferocious team that would cause all opponents to despair upon seeing that name on their schedule. We would wear very sweet brown uniforms in order to look maximum stylish as we crush teams. The only downside to adding the Beaverton Beavers to the league is that Beaverton, as mentioned, is in Oregon which would mean that Minnesota would continue being in the Eastern conference which makes no sense at all so I would consider putting the team in Beaver, Pennsylvania instead. That way we could have 2 eastern expansion teams and boot Minnesota to the western conference. The reason for this branding is because beavers are industrious, hard working animals that are extremely noble and are criminally underrepresented in sporting teams. They are certainly way better than birds which are disgusting, disease-ridden, flying rats.

If I were creating an expansion team for the SHL, I would make the Houston Honey Badgers. Honey Badger Don't Care. They are absolute juggernauts. With the Houston Honey Badgers being added to the SHL, the playoff landscape could look very different. The Honey Badgers might not do good at first, but they have potential. Either way, The Honey Badgers would establish a reputation of being a tough team to play. The Honey Badgers would strive to first be the best expansion team, and then the best SHL team. The obvious mascot for The Honey Badgers is a Honey Badger named Badgy. This team would be fun for the players and the fans. Not sure if Houston already has a team, but it is a big city that could fit two teams if needed. The Honey Badgers would often fight the Renegades to see who were the kings of Texas. A rivalry would start from the first day, it would be great.

The Quebec Nordiques are back! They are to commence play at the Centre Videotron next season. Retaining much of the original branding, the old logo is to be used on the alternates as a throwback jersey to be worn when facing the SHL's original clubs. A new, modernized logo will take the key concepts from the original Nordiques logo and adapt it to the 21st century, cleaning it up and adding a bit more detail. Quebec City is perfect for an SHL team and has some of the best hockey fans in the world. They have it all; they're passionate, fanatical, and extremely loyal to their team. Badaboum will return as everybody's favourite blue fuzzy mascot to lead the crowd in their chants. The team will launch with all new Adizero jerseys and a new promotion will allow for one lucky fan who buys the new jersey to attend the home opener next season.

My team would be the Boston Shitters. I really dislike Boston as a city and every sports team always has at least one or more shitters on it so I just named the team that way so they know that they will forever be shit. Obviously I would probably make the logo the shit emoji with a fire on it so everyone knows this team is a flaming turd. I would also hire Sour as my co gm because I need someone to boston it up a little. My captain would ideally be logan because I feel that he is a true leader and this would be his perfect chance to showcase his leadership to the world. I do not know what I am going to do for team colors but Im thinking Brown and yellow so it looks just god awful. I would steal TD Garden and that should be good enough for a stadium.

<center>I think the SHL is missing a trick by not having a team in the province of Québec, and if the league were to expand I think this should be a place that it considers seriously with rewarding a team! The SMJHL is home to the Montréal Militia, which makes Québec City the most sensible choice for a team in the SHL! In leagues like the NHL, players struggled to adapt to the language and culture change that Québec City brought difficult to adjust to, but I think with a league that is more international like the SHL it would be a great choice! If the SHL set up a team in Québec City I would like to see them take up the famous Nordiques brand that the old NHL team had. This isn't an original idea but the SHL named a team after the Winnipeg Jets when their franchise was in a similar situation, and as I have always been a big fan of the Nordiques name I would be very excited to see it make a return to the world of hockey in a new league!

With the SHL expanding this is the perfect time to bring a team to YUKON. The YUKON HUSKIES - The branding would be based around the yukons nations emblem which is a side facing husky. Now, with the launch of this team there may be some resistance as there is a UCONN Huskies in Connecticut. However, any attempt at shutting the new SHL team down would be seen in a harsh view as the Yukon is the home of the Husky, and not Connecticut.
Currently in the North West territories there is no hockey team, this would allow their people to root for a more local team, a team that represents their identity more then any other canadian team. Working off of the team logo the mascot would follow closely to the Calgary flames mascot Harvey the Hound. However the Yukon Mascot would be Finn the Siberian Husky. The mascot it self would be a little fiercer then most mascots, and represent a more serious side of the Yukon lifestyle.
