Sunday Funday: Friends

I spend the most time off the ice with Tigole Bitties. We generally spend our time kicking back playing Stardew Valley. One time on the way back from practice he managed to total his truck by accidentally driving into a ditch off the side of the road. The fool was only going 30 MPH! That'll teach him to check his phone while driving.

Nico Gross goes back a long ways with one member in particular on the Buffalo Stampede - Brynjar Tusk. The two train together in the offseason, and have been able to form a closer bond after taking a full European vacation together last summer where they collectively put their livers to the test.

One good friend I have on the team is Joe Kurczewski, our captain. One time we went out drinking and ended up at Buffalo Wild Wings where Joe decided to get a few drinks. Well it only took about 3 Zima's before Joe was slurring his words and hitting on anything that passed him. He kept exclaiming he was "white girl wasted" and wanting to go to Starbucks for fraps. Who knows what that was about. Once I got him outside he puked all over the parking lot and passed out in the car.

Even though Ti-Guy went from playing in juniors to the big league this season, he was lucky enough to keep playing with Gilmore Tuttle on a d-pair as both were drafted one year a part by Colorado and Toronto. Gilmore's half brother, Tommy Tuck, is the goalie for Toronto. With a few seconds remaining in a pre-season game with a 2-0 lead, Gilmore purposely scored on his own net. Tuck's reaction and Gilmore celebrating was too much. Ti-Guy never laugh so hard witnessing something someone would only do in NHL 18

No surprise that Esa and Shooter hang out together. Esa showed Shooter how to make chicken parms, then Esa displayed how to eat 10 in one sitting...so maybe Shooter will get a chance to actually try one some day. Shooter gave Esa some golf tips, starting with driving the ball. Esa's first attempt went about 75 yards...unfortunately it was the wrong way, though still somewhat impressive. Shooter showed off his 300 yard drive and gave some key pointers to help push Esa in the right direction, quite literally!

Tell a story of at least 15 words, either off- or on-ice, about the teammate that you spend the most time with, and a time when they really made you laugh.

Me and the whole team usually attend these game film analysis sessions after the majority of home games. On one of the games in question Toronto were actually playing and somebody laid the lumber with a massive hit. Viktor Vorkämpfer turns around to the rest of us and goes " I won't beat around the fucking bush, that guy did something stupid and I'm excited this helps our playoff chances even slightly" and then everybody lost their shit.

Light and Wilson have always gotten along well. Probably one of his better friends on the Platoon. When Wilson just got to West Kendall, Light welcomed him with a friendly “rookie” haircut.

Gronk and I are normally room mates and I think it's a perfect solution because other than the variety of different genres of metal he listens to, he's the perfect room mate.

Although Grease is only a second year player and Yelkrab is a rookie, they've been teammates and friends for the past 4 seasons from their time on the Colorado Mammoths! One time on while on the ice during a practice, Grease scored a goal and Yelkrab yelled over at him "that was a... GREASEy goal! hahahahaha". That made me laugh because of the pun!

Since being traded to Buffalo, Luke Atmey has struck up a strong bond with Fredrich Koenig. They often play Fortnite together. Every time they play Koening sucks and does the dumbest shit which Atmey gets a good chuckle out of.

Walter Hobbs has been good friends with Iam Essellem since the day they were both drafted to Texas. They have been room mates at every rookie camp since. Even though they talk frequently on the phone, and their respective SMJHL teams are meeting in the finals,Hobbs still has a hard time with Iam scoring twice on him in one game this season.

Vijanupatan Singh's best friend on the ice is Maurizio Arrivabene. This friendship stems of course from the fact that they are of similar ages and played together on the successful Detroit Falcons of the mid-S30s. One of Vijanupatan's fondest memories of their friendship was Vijay's first ever goal, which he got off a rebound from a point shot by now-retired Scott Robertson, who had the puck passed to him by Arrivabene. Maurizio was the first person Singh skated to when he saw the puck go into the net, and training with him was a massive reason why Singh improved a large amount over the S41 season.

Maurizio's best friend on the team without a doubt is Vijanupatan Singh. They have won together in every level they have played in and will dominate the league in a few seasons. Also, shoutout to Romualds Loks, this fat guy is a blast
