S49 Top-100 SHL Players
#16

I'm one of the voters. I look 3 seasons back and weigh the last season a little heavier. I'm not saying it's the case with ball or Lagerfield but one strong season might not propel you in rankings compared let's say izzy who's posting insane numbers season in and out.

Im sure there's a lot of things that could be improved though and I'm happy there's a discussion about it!

And those voters can defend themselves as necessary. If there are major issues with where people are getting placed I will take it into account for next season and will either be much more strict in how ballots are processed or go back to an algorithm.

Don’t go back to the algorithm Argar.. the diversity of the numbers work....I think this should be an official job on the site.. I mean you’ve only been doing this for 20+ seasons... make this is payed job so the guys that work the top 100 are serious about it and are getting Paid for there efforts.

How the hell are @ToeDragon84 and @JKortesi81 still top five?

That's not a criticism of the voting, that's just my sheer disbelief that they're still so good.

Last three seasons AFAIK. That's the instruction I got for the get go.

One thing you have to realize as well is that there's no set method for grading. Some voters emphasize hits while some don't. It's a load of people voting and then the average is this list.

Top 100 players going into the upcoming season.

I have always specified that voters should take the past three seasons (roughly) into account, allowing for players who are getting better to potentially get a bump in the ranking and players who are getting worse get knocked down for being likely to not maintain their production.

With Ball it is a weird situation because he had 28 points in S47 and the team in general didn't have nearly the same kind of offensive production as they did in S48. So how much of the bump do we attribute to Ball compared to the numerous other players who also saw a huge bump in production, and how do we determine how he fits in going into next season?

No, he should not have landed at 100. But I cannot really say what spot he truly deserved, honestly. According to the most recent algorithm I had for the top-100 he would have had a ranking of 78.7. Hard to compare that with this season because the voting in general seems very high.

Alonzo Garbanzo Final Tallies (Among Defensemen):
2nd in Goals (208), All-Time Assists Leader (765)*, All-Time Points Leader (973), 3rd in Hits (2587), All-Time Blocked Shots Leader (1882)*
*All-Time Leader Among All Skaters

Putting it this way makes sense, thanks for the clarity.

We will never die. And we’ll retire together in a combined press conference. In St. Louis. In real life. High as fuck, i don’t even care.
