SMJHL S49 Game 22 - ANA @ VAN

SMJHL Game 22 Advanced Taterlytics Report:
Posessor: Jacob Riley @2000 Pontiac Grand Prix
Team: Anaheim Outlaws
Victim: Jan Zacha @StaticShocked
Team: Vancouver Whalers
Time: 1:40 of 3rd period
Total possession time:  41:40
Hot po-take-to:
You know how the saying goes. “If you cant take the heat, get rid of the Potato” or something along those lines. For third pairing defensemen Jacob Riley, this was easier said than done. Perhaps his coach needs to talk to him a bit more about pizza-ing when he should have french fried. He held on to the Potato for more than 7 periods of action dating back to last sim. No wonder he seemed to be sweating just a bit extra each night.

SMJHL Game 22 Advanced Taterlytics Report:
Posessor: Jan Zacha @StaticShocked
Team: Vancouver Whalers
Victim: N/A
Team: Anaheim Outlaws
Time: N/A
Total possession time:  18:20
Hot po-take-to:
Zacha was the first victim of Riley in over 150 total minutes of holding onto the Potato. One has to ponder if Riley even wanted to give the Potato up at all, or if Zacha felt bad for him and gave him a freebie. I don’t know either player well enough to say for sure, but what I can say is Zacha doesn’t exactly throw the body around often. I hope this Po-tentionally kind act doesn’t back fire on the poor 2nd year player.

SMJHL S49 Game 27 - VAN @ ANA

SMJHL Game 27 Advanced Taterlytics Report:
Posessor: Jan Zacha @StaticShocked
Team: Vancouver Whalers
Victim: Rath McLeod @rathmourn
Team: Anaheim Outlaws
Time: 19:30 of 1st period
Total possession time:  19:30
Hot po-take-to:
Zacha went home after the last game ended and logged straight onto his computer. www.smjhl.com/rosters/anaheimoutlaws. There he sat in the pitch black save for nothing but the light from his computer monitor. “Who’d be the easiest target for my first shift” he wondered as he scrolled through his next opposition’s lineup. “Rath McLeod, huh.” Zacha’s eyes grew wide with excitement as he knew just what he needed to do. Turns out, it wasn’t very much as McLeod can barely skate and was a sitting duck. Zacha a free elf!

SMJHL Game 27 Advanced Taterlytics Report:
Posessor: Rath McLeod @rathmourn
Team: Anaheim Outlaws
Victim: Bobby Bobcalf @nubbedindaribs
Team: Vancouver Whalers
Time: 6:32 of 2nd period
Total possession time:  7:02
Hot po-take-to:
One would think with such poor skating and almost non-existent will to throw the body, McLeod might have the Potato for a long, long while. And that my friends is where the magic of the Potato truly shines. McLeod was undeterred by the immediate hit laid onto him in the first seconds of the game. Even more surprising that McLeod being able to dump off the Potato this quickly, was his victim. Bobcalf is certainly no slouch when it comes to body control and his skating ability. The fact that McLeod was able to land a hit on him of all people just shows you the brown magic of the almighty Potato at work.

SMJHL Game 27 Advanced Taterlytics Report:
Posessor: Bobby Bobcalf @nubbedindaribs
Team: Vancouver Whalers
Victim: N/A
Team: Anaheim Outlaws
Time: N/A
Total possession time:  33:28
Hot po-take-to:
Bobby Bobcalf is a sniper who liked to play a finesse game most of the time. He’s relatively light for his height and chooses to out skate and maneuver defensemen than trying to go into the dirty areas and lay a hit trying to dig the puck out. This could pose some issues for Bobby boy going forward. Also, his first line linemate Jon Forty-One could have unknowingly made this task just a bit harder. Staying true to his name, Forty-One has a 41 checking rating compared to Bobcalf’s 40. Hopefully Forty-One doesn’t do all the checking for this Whaler line.

SMJHL S49 Game 32 - LBL @ VAN

SMJHL Game 32 Advanced Taterlytics Report:
Posessor: Bobby Bobcalf @nubbedindaribs
Team: Vancouver Whalers
Victim: N/A
Team: Lethbridge Lions
Time: N/A
Total possession time:  1:05:00
Hot po-take-to:
Well, my fears were exactly as predicted. That one point of checking that Forty-One thought was so clever to boost him to 41 skill seemingly has given him complete responsibility of checking for the Whaler’s first line. In this game, Bobcalf had 0 hits while Forty-One had 3. Although as a consolation, Bobby managed to pot a goal. I hope you’re happy Jon. If Bobcalf underperforms, this one’s on you buddy.
