S49 Casino Recap - The Home Stretch
#1

The home stretch is here, every team coming onto their last dozen or less games, and the Casino odds are closing in. A few teams have already ended their battle, winning for some and losing for others, while several more have made their races extremely close and fun to watch. Let’s take one final look at the Casino update before the season comes to and end!

Buffalo Stampede
Over/Under 28.5 games
Current Record: 20-16-2
On Pace For: 26-21-3
Over Bets: 3
Under Bets: 5

Buffalo has come back down to Earth in several ways since the last Casino update. They are leading their division with a negative goals differential, which is unheard of, and only holds a four point lead over Chicago in the divisional race. This could go a lot of ways. Chicago could still win this division, and it looks like the race for 29 wins to beat the over is going to be close as well. 9 wins in 12 games will be hard to muster though…

Calgary Dragons
Over/Under 24.5 games
Current Record: 26-11-2
On Pace For: OVER BETS WIN
Over Bets: 12
Under Bets: 0

The Casino loses out here. With 11 games left in their season, Calgary has proven they are the standout performer in the West, and betters should rejoice at this. 12 people are going to be very very happy about this turn of events! Congrats to you winners here.

Chicago Syndicate
Over/Under 21.5 games
Current Record: 18-20-2
On Pace For: 22-25-3
Over Bets: 18
Under Bets: 0

This could be very close. Chicago needs a big push to make the playoffs right now, and with 10 games remaining, they will need to put up some big wins to make it happen. As for the Casino, this one is coming down to the wire. There will be either 18 very happy or very sad betters in the coming week.

Edmonton Blizzard
Over/Under 27.5 games
Current Record: 19-18-2
On Pace For: 24-23-3
Over Bets: 0
Under Bets: 2

Without a large push to close out the season, it’s hard to see the Blizzard reaching 28 wins and the over. They have struggled in a chaotic Western conference and have yet to stand out in any way offensively. Defensively they are trying to stay in games and their once dependable goaltending is faltering. They will need 9 wins in 11 games to reach their over number, so it’s safe to say that we have 2 winning betters here unless a minor miracle occurs.

Hamilton Steelhawks
Over/Under 24.5 games
Current Record: 15-20-4
On Pace For: 19-26-5
Over Bets: 0
Under Bets: 13

After a bad run of games, it’s hard to see Hamilton breaking out in any form to reach the 25 win mark. Especially considering they would need to win 10 of 11 games to hit the mark, so our 13 under betters can rejoice that they will likely be receiving a payout!

Los Angeles Panthers
Over/Under 20.5 games
Current Record: 17-13-8
On Pace For: 22-17-11
Over Bets: 18
Under Bets: 0

The Panthers had a good run from the last update and are only 4 wins away from breaking the over. I would dare say this could be a big win for the betters but we’ve seen the mess of the Western conference and this could still go multiple different ways. The odds are for them reaching it, but it will still be fun to witness if it occurs.

Manhattan Rage
Over/Under 26.5 games
Current Record: 27-10-2
On Pace For: OVER BETTERS WIN
Over Bets: 2
Under Bets: 10

This was a big win for the Casino, as many betters did not believe or expect that the Rage could improve from how abysmal their previous season was. However, the betting line was set, and the Casino makes money here. The Rage stepped up big with the addition of luke as Co-GM and Alaska as Coach for the team. As for the two people who bet the over, good on you!

Minnesota Chiefs
Over/Under 22.5 games
Current Record: 18-19-2
On Pace For: 23-24-3
Over Bets: 3
Under Bets: 5

The Chiefs have begun to play like we all expected they would, and though they could still make one final push towards a playoff position, it’s hard to predict either way. The betting line on this could really come down to the final sim of the season, so the 8 betters here, and everyone really, should keep and eye on this exciting conclusion.

New England Wolfpack
Over/Under 26.5 games
Current Record: 28-9-2
On Pace For: OVER BETTERS WIN
Over Bets: 5
Under Bets: 3

The Wolfpack have ridden a high they just haven’t come down from yet. GM Ace has shown he’s ready to compete and his players have stepped up big. 5 winners and 3 losers here is one of the first real evenly split bet lines to end. Congrats to our winners.

New Orleans Specters
Over/Under 28.5 games
Current Record: 19-14-6
On Pace For: 24-18-8
Over Bets: 1
Under Bets: 3

The Specters have been less than impressive of a team that is leading their division. The Panthers remain right on their heels, and a simple +1 goal differential is not amazing. They do have the 3rd most goal scored in the west, but that only puts them in 8th for the entire league. The offense will need to explode for them to get 10 wins in just 11 games. Under betters should feel very secure here.

San Francisco Pride
Over/Under 27.5 games
Current Record: 15-22-2
On Pace For: UNDER WINS
Over Bets: 1
Under Bets: 2

This is a surprising under win for me. All the metrics pointed to a much better season than this. With 11 games remaining in the season, even with an 11 game win streak they will fall well short of 28 wins. A disappointment but 2 under betters don’t mind. That one guy who bet over however…

Tampa Bay Barracuda
Over/Under 22.5 games
Current Record: 18-15-7
On Pace For: 22-19-9
Over Bets: 20
Under Bets: 0

This is a huge one to watch and could come down to the final game of the season for sure. Looking at their final games, they are not easy for the most part, and it’s quite possible that Tampa will ne be able to muster a 5-5 record in the last 10 games to hit the over mark. Betters bite your nails and pray to whatever it is gives you luck. You might need it here

Texas Renegades
Over/Under 25.5 games
Current Record: 16-20-3
On Pace For: 20-26-4
Over Bets: 1
Under Bets: 4

Texas slowed down in a big way and finds themselves on the outside looking in at playoff positions.  With 11 games remaining on their schedule, they would need to pull out 10 wins, which is highly unlikely. Under betters can start counting their money now, barring divine intervention.

Toronto North Stars
Over/Under 21.5 games
Current Record: 15-22-2
On Pace For: 19-28-3
Over Bets: 2
Under Bets: 9

This could still be closer than it appears. 6 wins in 11 games is doable, maybe not easily for the struggling Toronto squad, but stranger things have happened. They do have the majority of their remaining games against stronger Eastern teams, so it’s hard to imagine them really pulling this one off. Keep an eye out here though!

West Kendall Platoon
Over/Under 26.5 games
Current Record: 25-10-4
On Pace For: 32-13-5
Over Bets: 8
Under Bets: 1

Over betters rejoice. Beyond a hole opening up and swallowing the stadium, and the team, completely, I think it’s safe to say they can pull off 2 more wins in 11 games. That one guy who bet under, we’ll march you through the streets yelling Shame!

Winnipeg Jets
Over/Under 25.5 games
Current Record: 16-14-9
On Pace For: 20-18-12
Over Bets: 3
Under Bets: 0

Needing 10 wins in 11 games, hard to see the Jets being able to pull this one off. They also seem to have begun yet another phase of a rebuild, so who knows what sort of aspect that will mean for the team and their odds going forward. We can confidently say, however, the Casino wins this one. Better luck next year you 3 betters!

With the season winding down, a few bets are over, a few are all but done, and some still have a chance of going either way. Exciting bets like Minnesota, Chicago, and Tampa Bay make this fun for me as the Casino head to follow and hopefully it does for you as well, considering between those three teams there are 46 bets riding close to the line. Good luck to you all, but maybe not quite that much luck, Casino has to win every now and then!

Chicago now needs 3 wins in their finals 7 games to reach their over. Tampa needs 4 wins in 7 games. There are a combined 38 over and 0 under bets between the two teams. This is a photo finish ladies and gentlemen
